- This video shows how to add a simple cnc spoilboard to a Onefinity CNC router. I do not teach how to create a file, just how to use a file to create a spoilboard. If you are a beginner than this is the video you are looking for to help you start carving right away. I do have plans available for purchase on ETSY at a very inexpensive price.
****The plans require VCarve Pro or Apsire v11.016 or higher. You can use them with the desktop version but you will need to tile the project because of the software's limited cut area.

Great channel and information! Just got your plans, surfacing my board today on my Journeyman!! This was super helpful to get started, thank you!
Thanks for watching 👍 Let me know how it goes! What do you plan on making with your Journeyman?
Best tutorial I've seen so far. Waiting for my Onefinity to come in.
Thanks! 👍
Very helpful! I am sure I will be viewing this video several time when my Onefinity Journeyman Pro when it arrives.
Thank you for watching 👍
You really explain everything very well. Im excited. I am getting close to purchasing my Onefinity elite woodworker. UPDATE: i have purchased my unit. I'm in the hold pattern now. 10 weeks from July 4th.
Nice! Thanks for watching 👍
Wow! You are very clear. Thank you! Keep up great work!
Thank you! I appreciate that 👍
Thanks a ton for this video and the file, which I just bought since it's so inexpensive. While I'm still saving up for my onefinity, I'll definitely be using your spoilboard design.
Awesome! Thanks for watching 👍
What do you want to make with you Onefinity when you get it?
@@twoelmbuilds I'll be doing a ton with it aside from projects to sell. Boxes, arcade style control panels, some jigs for the workshop, things like drawer pulls, shelf brackets, trays, coasters, signs, resin inlays, acrylic etching with a drag bit, etc. Man, there's so many things we can do with a CNC! At first it'll be mostly a mix of practice and some small runs of projects to recoup some of the costs.
Got my 1F Woodworker a few weeks ago and just bought these plans. Looking forward to it.
Awesome! What do you plan on making?
@@twoelmbuilds New to cnc so the spoilboard is on the top of the list. After that maybe cutting boards and some signs.
I like the instruction video...very good. I would have liked a sample of how these are used. I'm new to CNCing and have 1f woodworker.
Absolutely enjoyed this video.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching 👍
My woodworker is on the way. Decided to give this another watch. Many different ways to do a spoilboard and I haven't decided on which way.
@@tratzum I went through a few designs before finding one that worked for me
Really helpful video, perfect teaching. Not too fast for a beginner and not so dumbed down as to be boring. Easy to follow. A couple of things, just starting and have ordered a new Onefinity machine. No one covers the process of computer to CNC. I am familiar with CNC software for embroidery machines, so I expect to pick up woodworking CNC pretty quick, but it has been my experience that the simple steps are the ones that cause me the most problems. The other thing, how do I determine the location for interior hold down screws? So they don't interfere with the holes for the insert holes. And, are they necessary to keep the spoil board flat?
Thanks for watching! For the hold down screws in the middle, I just measured them out and put them where I knew there was no brass insert. I would add them before flattening your spoilboard. I think it is important to have them because you may accidently put a screw too deep into the brass inserts one time and it may want to try and lift the spoilboard. Those holddown screws help keep it secured down. If you are worried about hitting them, you could always take them out before you drill the insert holes and put them back in afterward. As far as connecting your computer, I connect through my wireless network. If you don't have a wireless network in your shop, you can connect a computer to the controller box using an ethernet cable, but I havent done that before so I am not the expert to ask for details. I am sure a quick search on the Onefinity Forums will have more details on the process. Hope that helps 👍
Nice video. Suggestion, put the inserts in from the back side less likely to pull out. I know it’s an extra step but a little more secure.
That is a good suggestion and I did that with my first ever spoilboard. I ended up switching to the brass inserts because I am a simple man. 😂 But really, when I made my second spoilboard I had a hard time reusing some of the T-nuts and getting them out was a pain. These are easy to reuse. The other reason I use them is that they will pull out if you accidentally overtighten a bolt, instead of raise up your nice flat spoilboard. Two different takes and both will work. Good suggestion! I think Ben Meyers at Meyers Woodshop has plans with that setup if anyone is interested in this kind of insert. Thanks for the suggestion!
Great job on this video! Very nice of you to make these plans so affordable too ! I just finally built my table and set up my onefinity. I do plan on using 4 t-tracks for hold downs. My question is can I buy these plans and just use the flattening and grid portion of these plans and just not do the holes?
Thanks! yes, you sure can use just the flattening and grid tool paths. They are all separate tool paths so you can use whatever ones work best for what you want to make!
Awesome video. Can you make a video of the cam clamps and how you design them. Also might be a stupid question but what attachment are you using at the end of the ryobi drill to screw in all of the holes
Thanks! I will definitely make a clamp video, I have two other videos I am working on right now and then I will make it. As for the attachment on the end of my drill, it is a magnetic bit extension. They make them in all different lengths: amzn.to/3gDWHQ4
Great channel. I have a woodworker x-50 sitting in boxes on my garage floor. 1. table 2. set it up 3. spoilboard . I am definitely ordering you plans ! Thank you !
Awesome! I appreciate you watching 👍. What do you plan on making?
Enjoy watching all your videos. Newbie here! Just got my journeyman X50 setup with QCW frame. with your spoil board download from etsy. Do i start from the first big board at the bottom left where the homing position is? Thanks, appreciate the help and keep putting out these wonderful videos
Thanks! Yes, everything starts from the home position.
Nice video. Thanks for taking the time and effort to help us “out” here.
Question.
You mentioned that your friend suggested that you increase the thread hole size. That would take less effort to drive in the brass threaded inserts.
That’s a good idea. If the hole is too tight you’ll have “bulge” pushing somewhere in that specific area of board structure. Does that change your flattened surface?
Also… is there any issue when driving the inserts in having your previous “flattened” spoil board heave up when you bottom out the insert screw against the surface structure below??
Those small impact screw guns have some impressive torque values.
Just thoughts about reaction of wood vs metal pressures.
Again, thanks for the education.
Best.
Wiredodger60
I suppose you could have it bulge up if you tighten the insert down too far in the mdf. You can even mess thing up if you drive your hold down screws too far.
I wouldn't be to worried about having issues if you just know it can happen and use some caution. At least MDF is easy to sand flush if you mess something up 😂 🤣
I just received my Universal arms for my Onfinity and had no problem assembling them. I did notice that they did not come with the thumb screws for mounting them on my Onefinity. Do I need to purchase then separately, or find them at the hardware store?
I would contact Onefinity and let them know that you didn't receive them. I don't have any affiliation with them (yet) so I am not much help. It may be faster to go buy your own, but I would still contact Onefinity. 👍
I've been trying to
Fi the last hour to draw a grid for my spoilboard..and keep getting open Victor issues...
To draw the grid it needs to be one continuous line all the way through without ending.
Did you mention what the revised inner hole diameter was for the threaded inserts?
The inner circle was sized down to a diameter of 0.33 inches. Thanks for watching! 👍
Is your Gcodes set up for a Onefinity with a QWC frame?
I don't have a QWC frame so I can't say for certain it there is anything that would prevent it from working. Can you place your own dimension of spoilboard on a QWC frame or does it have a specific setup for a spoilboard?
Isn't it better to install your brass inserts (t-nuts) on the underside of your spoilboard?
You can build a spoilboard like that and it works well. I prefer to use inserts because they are easier to re-use (in my opinion) and they pull out if you accidentally tighten too hard, I stead of raise up your spoilboard from underneath, thus making your project not flat. Just two differing styles with their own pluses and minuses. Thanks for the insight and watching 👍
Does this work for Carveco maker + ?
No, it is only for Vectric Software.
I've actually got a question about how you're controlling your cursor on the touchscreen ... is that through the joypad? I have the same joypad, and think I've tried all of the buttons, but don't seem to have any control of the cursor, just the movement of the machine. How are you controlling your cursor if not with your finger? Thanks!
I was using my laptop to control it. I was doing a screen record as I did the work. It was my mouse controlling the cursor with my laptop.
@@twoelmbuilds: Bummer! I was hoping there was a way to do it from the joypad, but maybe not. Thanks for replying!
Hi,
Is there any way to convert the Vcarve files to Carvco files which came with my Journeyman CNC? It seems that the carve files cannot be imported into my Masso controller.
Thanks,
Sam
Unfortunately, there isn't a way to convert them to Carveco. They are vectric .crv files. If there is any conversion software out there I don't know about it. If you run across one let me know! 👍
So, sounds like I need to purchase Vcarve to make these files work with my machine.
Oh wait, jus had a thought… how about importing them into Easel and then exporting them to a fils format that the Masso controller can read?
Thanks again!
The Masso controller needs gcode to control. Vcarve, easel, carvco are all cad/cam software that produces gcode to send to your Masso. Each software runs it's own forms of cad/cam that do not communicate with each other. The only way to open a carvco file is with carvco. Same with Vectric files, they need vectric software. You will need to create your own carvco file to generate gcode for your Masso. I would stear you towards someone who teaches carvco, but I really don't know anyone.
Thank you sir!
Perhaps I stated the question improperly . Can I load your files into my Masso controller?
sam
@@twoelmbuilds
My files are vectric vcarve pro files. The can only be opened and used by vcarve pro or Aspire software, so no you can't load my files directly into your controller.
Does this work with the elite journeyman? Just got the machine.
It should work with the elite journeyman since the cutting area is the same size. Congrats on getting the Elite! Is it your first cnc?
@@twoelmbuilds yes, this is my first cnc. Learning with baby steps. I found your videos very informative and easy to learn. Thanks
@@jamesc4362Careful, it gets addictive pretty fast! Just give me a shout if you come to any roadblocks.
@@twoelmbuilds thank you in advance.
Hi I bought the file Can you please show how you chose and load files on the machine
Are you trying to load it into vectric?
Loading to Vectric no problem I want to know how to choose step by step ever moment when changing bits
@@Tulunayo I tried to put that in the video, is there a specific step you need explained?
On the video you are sayin grid layer loaded with 60 degree V bitI just wish to see how you choose those layers . When you start job. Sorry I am a beginner may be askin dummy questions
This will be the my first CNC work
You must have newest version of vcarve to run this. IT DOES NOT work with all ventric software!!
What version of vcarve do you have? Are you using vcarve pro or Desktop?
If you have any of the Desktop versions instead of the Pro, they have a cutting area limit of 24" x 24". You will need to use the tiling feature to get the project done.
