Actually it's a game combination that I am not surprised to see. Both are pretty popular amongst casual gamers and speedrunners. And both have many similarities (item collecting is important for both). If it was HK x Half-Life, this would be unexpected to me. Or x Souls game. And I mean full combo, not a skin, like fire already used in Elden Ring or whatever game it was.
with archipelago you can do crazier combinations, there are already several genres Action RPG (zelda 1, ALTTP, OOT) Metroidvanias (super metroid, HK) survival (minecraft, raft) factory simulator (factorio) turn based RPG (hylics, lufia) sRPG (wargroove) RTS (starcraft) and those are just some of the games available
Yeahh had to give the benefit of the doubt considering how little it seems he's played lol. Couldnt quite tell if it was latest version and if he played since the dragon was released, but considering how much has changed since the dragon it makes sense how hars it is to keep up.
A 2-person version of this might be cool, where one person plays Hollow Knight and the other does Minecraft Then they could see the fastest collab time they could get

Archipelago is really cool btw! It supports and randomizes a lot more games than I ever expected, such as Noita, Hylics 2, Slay the Spire, A Link to the Past, Kingdom Hearts 2, and even Sonic Adventure 2 lmao. If you enjoyed the video you should try it out!

Hey, thanks for checking this out! Randomizing a single game is already fun, but randomizing multiple games at once? It can only be even more funner! For anyone else who's interested, Fireborn used the Archipelago Multiworld randomizer to make this speedrun possible. It's a project in which a whole lot of talented and incredibly dedicated people are trying to make the most biggest multiworlds possible, and make as many different games as possible able to be put in those multiworlds. You already know Hollow Knight and Minecraft, but there are dozens of other games to choose from, ranging from Factorio, Starcraft II, a Link to the Past, Subnautica, the Witness, Overcooked! 2... and more are always being added! Multiworlds can be played singleplayer or multiplayer, and any one multiworld can have as many worlds as you want, with as many players participating as you want, and each player can have as many different games as they want. As a rather dramatic example, the Archipelago Discord regularly hosts massive Asyncs to really push the limits of what they can do, with the last game having 1,200 individual worlds and hundreds of players playing them! Can I ask if it's compatible with other Minecraft mods? Like, for example, if a Minecraft mod has its own advancements, does that count towards the total advancement bar at the top? Could stuff from Minecraft mods be locked behind things in the other game?

You *could* download additional mods, but in the best case, they won't interact with AP at all, and worst case, if they change vanilla advancements or recipes, there may be unintended consequences. You could probably make a version of AP compatible with more mods if you were determined. I know there were plans to make a custom skyblock modpack in the AP Discord, but I couldn't tell you more beyond that.

The server's going to be vanilla, except for the AP datapackage, so trying to connect to it with anything other than the right version of a vanilla client might not work? And maybe there's a way to have mods be in the server when it's created? But that's beyond my knowledge.
I love the Knight skin in Minecraft, and it's poetic as hell that you beat Hollow Knight at the very end of the Minecraft credits This would be super cool to speedrun or do some kind of two player thing with, sending things to one another as you both progress. There's definitely a number of nuances to the game that might have sped things up, like you had two iron, but couldn't craft a furnace- however, villages usually have one at the blacksmith building, so you could have smelted iron that you encountered earlier in a cave but didn't mine with the gold pickaxe you had. This has so much potential for advanced runs with a bunch of speedrunners
I am so deeply concerned yet excited to see what this could possibly be, all things considered. EDIT: I've only watched the explanation and already this sounds more chaotic than anything I've seen before.

it does actually! Archipelago is intended to be done with multiple people playing different games. You have someone set up a room (the guides they have are great), and have whoever you want to play with connect to the room. Each game supported has it's own setup, (some of them can be annoying a little,) but following the guides on the site will get you there.

Nice run Fire! For the future though, the trick with the beds is that you place them on the pillar and make them explode when the dragon is about to make touchdown. That way the bedrock protects you from the explosion. For the most part, damage with explosions is calculated via how visible your feet are to it.

@@ChomperRex20 Both games are supported (as well as SMZ3), but they also all have their own multiworld platforms for their individual games. These games are kind of the founders of the multiworld concept itself, really.
fireborn heres a timesave for minecraft: you can avoid respawning and the walk back to the dragon by not dying. this is easier to do when you explode the bed away from your *feet.* basically use the bedrock frame to save your legs from exploding.
I really want to see a collab randomizer where everyone gets a different game. Maybe you all have your one main game, but if you get stuck you can help in a different one idk. Just so one person doesn’t have to just sit there waiting for something to be picked up.

14:30 Very true... I was playing minecraft -- dark souls III with a friend and I thought I was set up already to find and beat the dragon.... The only tricky part to get there was working around the bucket crafting by buying tropical fish in a bucket from a wandering trader. Then I realised to craft down the rods into powder, we needed to find Alchemy crafting, which was behind the achievement of having an allay bring you cake to a noteblock... To top things off I HAD to get the allays from a woodland mansions because the outposts were randomised into... the end, so...
I’ve been there for like 2 years, but couldn’t even get past NKG But then I finally got a pc good enough to run hollow knight and I beat it after 2 days (i was using a switch previously)
Be interesting to try Archipelago with another metroidvania like one of the Metroids or Ori. Or you could do something ridiculous where collectibles are everywhere like Breath of the Wild or Dark Souls
41:18 as a person who recalls my first experience beating both bosses, I can confidently say Radiance is much harder. It took me countless tries to beat radiance, whereas I think I was able to beat the Ender Dragon in very few tries
25:45 do need to clarify as someone who has played archipelago a lot, they just kinda give you wither skeleton skulls on almost every kill to make it less grindy, it isn’t dream luck I swear

@@ChomperRex20 Both games are supported (as well as SMZ3), but they also all have their own multiworld platforms for their individual games. These games are kind of the founders of the multiworld concept itself, really.

fireborn heres a timesave for minecraft: you can avoid respawning and the walk back to the dragon by not dying. this is easier to do when you explode the bed away from your *feet.* basically use the bedrock frame to save your legs from exploding.

As a guy who plays a lot of Minecraft, can confirm, once you know what you're doing, normal Radiance is definitely easier than the Ender Dragon.
14:30 Very true... I was playing minecraft -- dark souls III with a friend and I thought I was set up already to find and beat the dragon....
The only tricky part to get there was working around the bucket crafting by buying tropical fish in a bucket from a wandering trader.
Then I realised to craft down the rods into powder, we needed to find Alchemy crafting, which was behind the achievement of having an allay bring you cake to a noteblock...
To top things off I HAD to get the allays from a woodland mansions because the outposts were randomised into... the end, so...

But then I finally got a pc good enough to run hollow knight and I beat it after 2 days (i was using a switch previously)

41:18 as a person who recalls my first experience beating both bosses, I can confidently say Radiance is much harder. It took me countless tries to beat radiance, whereas I think I was able to beat the Ender Dragon in very few tries
tip: when in a village always take haybales as it is one of thebest food sources in the game to make bread and it can also reduce fall damage

25:45 do need to clarify as someone who has played archipelago a lot, they just kinda give you wither skeleton skulls on almost every kill to make it less grindy, it isn’t dream luck I swear
If you do another one of these, an important note is checks that aren’t in the pool of random items still count to the percentage for unlocking hints.
