It may not be super powerful or super fuel sippy, but that 4.6L SOHC V-8 is definitely one of the best sounding engines ever created by Ford. On a quiet night, you could tell if cops were responding to a call without their sirens because you could never mistake that engine sound for anything but the Crown Vic. I got to go on police ride alongs in those cars, and my backside always tingled with excitement whenever the cop I rode with floored it.
PD in my city still has quite a few Crown Vics, though they’re slowly being phased out. That V8 gets my attention better than the siren, I get out of the way the second I hear it.
Takes me back to being a little kid hearing the cops wind these old vics up through the intersection at 2 am the whole neighborhood can hear that howl the hemis growl and are fast but nothing makes your ass clench and your hair stand up like a 4.6 winding up but. The hemis worst nightmare but not in speed but durability
Me and my friends used to hang out a lot on the corners. And every time we would hear these some of them would scatter. This will always be the greatest cop car of all time, it's sad seeing them disappear. But I love when there's some still lingering around

I like how they only came with the V8. V6s are great too but not for vehicles like this. I wish they would’ve offered in addition to the 4.6L the 5.4L 2V (that’s the good 5.4L, arguably more long lasting than even the 4.6L 2V). I’d still probably pick the 4.6L just because it’s a little more high pitch, but it’d be cool to have both.
@@BrownBomber92181that would be sick those engines a little complex for my taste though. I hear they’re still tough tho if you maintain them, but I have no experience to tell you if that’s true or not. I know for a fact the 5.4L 3V sucked though, unless you really maintained it perfectly.

Mine have started to do that and I'm pretty sure it's just low quality brake pads, can't find any other reason.
