  • Lumberjack is a 1981 Poma triple chairlift with 174 chairs and 15 towers. At its length of 4300 ft, it should complete an uphill ride in 8.6 minutes at 500 fpm. Well, on December 20, they ran it at an atrocious speed of 166 fpm, increasing the ride time to about a half hour. It initially ran at its normal speed, about 375 fpm, after we loaded, but after tower 1, it slowed way down, and we took 4 recordings in total. At this point, it has earned itself the nicknames "SLUMBERjack" and "LumberSLACK." This may actually be the worst chairlift I’ve ever ridden. I sped up the insanely slow parts to cut the time down to 15 minutes. We may sound like chipmunks, but the speedup was worth it. :-) At least a high-speed quad's replacing this at some point. The only way I would reride this lift is if it actually runs at a proper speed most of the time.
    Recorded Dec. 20, 2021.
I have a reupload of this video that is now 13 minutes: • Copper Mountain, CO: L...

Oh what about LumberTrash and I suggest you should do a top 10 worst chairlift rides ever!

That reminds me of when I recorded Wenatchee Express at Mission Ridge when it was having wind problems. It also took about half an hour to get to the top, and I ended up increasing the final version 4 times the original speed. In the spirit of nicknames, it's hard to find one, Wind-enatchee Express is the best I've got.

That’s a good one. I did not see any loading or unloading issues throughout, which made me think there was a mechanical issue with the lift. I did not get back on this lift for the rest of my Copper trip.

Wow, I can't imagine how long you guys were on that chairlift in normal speed. Also, that's a cool looking lift shack at the top.

Yeah, for real! Took us 25 minutes from loading to unloading! Ridiculous!

I think Copper Mountain is planning on replacing this with a high speed quad next year.

I hope it does. That lift was going for a slumber party 😂

@@TwinSkiingLiftsRides I don’t think it needs a high speed lift, it seems pretty useless. Maybe a fixed quad that is shortened with a loading carpet to run at 500 fpm?

@@TheLewistownTrainspotter8102 Well the thing I don’t understand is the need for a hsq when the area is already not crowded and underused. Kokomo and Woodward usually can service the West side just fine.

Based on that speed, a really good hiker or the average walker can beat this lift to the top! I bet it was your number 1 worst Slumberparty!
