- A Very Devil Christmas is the Christmas special of The Cuphead Show that features primarily Santa and The Devil. Although Cuphead season 3 has it's highs, this is definitely an episode I am mixed about.

Alpha Jay talking about Cuphead is a pretty good cup of tea may I say.
Appreciate it!

Season 3 is my favorite Cuphead Show season, and The Devil is one of the main reasons. He’s such a delight, whether it be with his one liners, overdramatic moments, crazy facial expressions, etc. Luke Millington-Drake does an amazing job as Devil (Fun fact: Voicing Devil is the first VA role Millington had. It’s incredible how well he does it and he deserves more roles in the future) I had a lot of fun with A Very Devil Christmas, and IMO it’s an instant Christmas classic that everyone should watch during the holiday season
Who is Luke Drake
@@murderman8578 Devil’s voice actor
@@TooningIn2008 No like what other things has he done
Same here I just love The Devil is much more prominent in this season. Hell, he even finally has episodes to himself! In the previous two seasons, he wasn't around as much and mainly appeared in the later episodes of the seasons
What does IMO mean?
I just love Santa's design here. Sure, it's the big, rosy cheeked Santa we all know, but the fact he looks like the old cartoon version of Ol' Saint Nicholas is such a nice detail.
Henchman : You met Santa?!
The Devil : Yeah....he's a PSYCHO!!!!!!
lol XD
I’m convinced that Santa is running a Cult at first…
It was a twist!
I truthfully loved both Christmas episodes of Cuphead. They both aren't perfect but they are fun to watch and will for sure be added to my 'rewatch' list every December.
there’s just one thing I want to say about this series, and it’s how they finished off the devil and henchman’s relationship.
all throughout the series, satan has given him very stern and annoyed “THANK YOU, HENCHMAN.”
but at the very, very end
the devils last line
is a sad, geniune
*”thank you, henchman.”*
The Devil's song in the beginning alone was enough to pull me in. I love how they took a different spin on those tropes including how they made Santa somewhat chaotic neutral, he literally ended up using the devil to do his job. Imo this Christmas special was really just fantastic!
7:47 that kills me every time. It kills the old lady too.
You don't have to hate Christmas to be a sadistic bastard on Christmas.
This episode of The Cuphead Show was quite an unexpected surprise, making The Devil, the supposed harbinger of all things evil and chaos, a sympathetic character in the world of Cuphead. Not only that, but focus on him with Cuphead barely in it. As far as character-focused episodes go, it actually kinda works. How does this show do it?
I think this episode is pretty great. I feel like Santa’s personality is how he is portrayed in every cartoon. Santa is usually portrayed as a jerk until someone learns their lesson. Even thought Santa wasn’t intentionally rude in this episode, he still made Devil do his job. On Devil’s side, he could’ve easily threatened Santa to give him a train if he wanted him to give it to him that badly. He also could’ve annihilated Santa, but that would ruin Christmas and Devil does like Christmas (I guess, even if it’s a Christian holiday 😅). I find it wholesome that Henchman built him a train in the end, it makes me so happy that he isn’t a stupid little assistant and actually cares. About Cuphead, I find it wholesome that he relates to the Devil about how it’s not easy being nice all the time. If I had to rate this episode, I’d give it a 7.5/10. Although it’s hard to put all the pieces together and make sense at the same time, it’s pretty entertaining. And Devil’s song at the beginning was just beautiful.
fair enough 👍🏻
One of the things in the Cuphead Show is that every season focused on different characters like
Season 1 focused on Cuphead
Season 2 focused on Mugman and now
Season 3 focused on The Devil
I think this why the devil appeared so many times in this season but I still enjoyed and it was fun
My favorite episode was The Devil and MsChalice
I feel like season 3 was also a focused on Chalice a little bit
Getting "Santa Clause"'d is definitely an interesting take on the "subbing for Santa" trope.
Also, if anyone went through the -hell- curse that the Devil went through, they'd be justified in getting anything from Santa. Getting nothing would make anyone hate the holiday more
Henchman deserves more love. Seriously, he’s basically Devil’s number one behind King Dice.
Also, part of me wonders what would’ve happened if The Devil and Santa actually fought at the end- full-on fire blasts and snowball cannons! Given that it’s supposed to be about Devil being nice, it’d probably come off strange and out of left field.
Absolutely!
hearing Alpha Jay talk about the Cuphead Show is a great Christmas gift
A very Devil Christmas was actually fairly entertaining for what it was.
Henchman was the MVP
@@TheAlphaJayShow he was the best in this season.
@Blak3_Nikos same
It may not be perfect, but I think we can agree that it’s better than all the other Christmas special made by Netflix.
👍🏻
I'd find it funny how The Devil had to take on the job as Santa Claus all just to get a toy train
That's Every Character In The Cuphead Show. Almost Every Cuphead Character Is Either Insane Or Just Relatable.
Cuphead definitely has its fair share of mentally questionable people lol
Or both.
But this may not be a good sign, though
I love this special. It gave me Grinch vibes.
the feel and style there Santa harkens me back to the Old school style Disney Cartoons
🎶 He's making a list, he's checking it twice 🎶
🎶Gonna make you suffer, no matter if you're naughty or nice 🎶
🎶Satan Claus is coming to town🎶
I just find it hilarious that the Devil was legit unsettled by the ritual Santa and the elves were doing as part of his "deal."
"be good" is essentially behave yourself so it doesn't cause trouble for your parents at the end of the year. Lol
I personally found the interactions Santa Claus and the devil to be hilarious. Especially when Santa finds out that the devil hasn't been nice since the beginning of time, when Santa realized that the devil can't be nice for 10 seconds, and how Santa just reacts to being threatened by the devil just by putting it on the naughty list. This was a funny and enjoyable episode.
9:38-9:46 Ay que lindo! X3 ❤❤❤
Henchman is just so adorable in this special, you have no idea how much I love this special. It’s just funny to me, I love Mr. D’s song and I just love how he wanted a “Choo Choo” especially towards the end. X3
Thank you so much Alpha jay for talking about this special and I really hope you have a good merry Christmas. 😊
Pancham has always been on the naughty list. That's why his mother and father Pangoros have to buy presents for him.
The sleigh bells during the “did _____ die?” sections were a perfect touch! Great job as always Alpha Jay!
The telephone had actually lost his soul again in the episode where Devil pretended to be a cat. He got it back at the beginning of the season. Poor guy.
How does he keep getting it back, does he have any noteworthy contacts there?
@@joshcoy6748 they just literally keep having him get it back randomly
@@Fan-imator it was a joke, "phone" "contacts"!
ah, well I take everything seriously so even if somethings a joke I give a legitimate answer anyway@@joshcoy6748
Yeah for me it was all a journey to get to the end part of the episode and I'm glad henchmen didn't say anything about it but it does make me wish that he got something in the end as well.
I was pretty much creeped out by that whole scene, mainly due to its cultish overtones
it was surprising we got 2 Christmas episodes of The CupHead Show even though I'd liked Holiday Tree-dishion But I'd LOVED A Very Devil Christmas for how wacky and INSANE it was and also I'd still wish this show continued for a couple more seasons Where I want more lore with The Cuphead Show
The Cuphead Show is an absolute banger 🤩
Agreed!
To be fair...
It's possible Santa is so far on the extreme Good side, the opposite spectrum of The Devil's Evil, that he couldn't conceive the possiblity that someone could stay evil or that The Devil was so far on the opposite end, that the lessons he wanted to impart weren't gonna work.
And it also seems coal (from my recollection) for Naughty people is not a thing. Nor is even so much as visiting or otherwise interacting with them.
And it's possible Cuphead's Santa is just ignorant to the details of how people become or do Naughty. Just knows they did do Naughty.
Maybe the system is so automated that he never had to deal with anything other then holly jolly elves and overly nice or nice acting kids?
This was truly a Holsome but scary episode I did like the devil giving the train to cuphead and how that didn't reform him
The devil has some serious anger issues
Had I a coin for every occasion on which a character has undergone a horrific metamorphosis into the patron of Christmas himself, I would posses two of them;
not a fortune, but a bizarre number nonetheless.
Who's the other character?
It is weird to think that Santa Possessed the devil.
“It almost makes you wanna live there. *almost* .” He says as the devil rolls on screen
I feel like Santa is supposed to be extremely nice unlike the Devil, he clearly felt bad even for the one at the top of the naughty list and couldn’t fathom the fact that someone wouldn’t feel good doing what he does, being nice
glad the devil had the henchman that cares for him. even made the train the size for the devil to ride in. so sweet!
I guess you can call the Devil “Satan Claus”?🎅😈😂
...are we sure Henchman's a demon...?
Sometimes when I saw the devil turn into Santa………. It’s beautiful
This is my favorite episode of The Cuphead Show
Santa's such a devil sometimes.
Love the Devil’s accent 😂
Me too
Agreed!
Ah yes "Devil May Cry" In this one!
The Devil did cry lol
@@TheAlphaJayShow I Know!😆

Happy holidays alpha jay
I feel like the Santa Devil Thumbnail will be Haunting me in my Sleep Tonight 😳😳😳
The devil: AAAAAAHH Christmas the best time of year.....
For seasonal depression 😈
If I could re-write this episode, I'd go as follows:
- Have the devil still want an arbitrary item, but specify that he wants it specifically as a Christmas gift from Santa.
- Still have him learn about the Naughty/Nice list from overhearing the conversation between the mother and child, but instead of asking the kid on further details, he goes to his minions to fill him in.
- During his conversation with the minions, have the devil explain that he thought Santa gave everyone gifts regardless of how they acted, and reveal that his minions were the ones who actually were giving him gifts (a role reversal on how parents leave the gifts instead of Santa).
- Have the devil argue his case to Santa more effectively. He was created to be the ultimate evil, so by following his set path to the highest standards, in his opinion he should be rewarded for doing a 'good job'.
- Have Santa's second deal be a bit less dramatic (instead of ruining Christmas forever, just ruining this one for everybody), and have the transformation play a bigger role on the devil. Perhaps by merging, Santa can make sure the devil holds up his part of the bargain and changes the devils powers to be less harmful.
- Still have the devil do the work shoddily with Santa complaining all the while, building up the tension between him and the devil.
- At the end, have Santa be dissatisfied with the devils poor work ethic, and the devil disillusioned with Santa and his 'high standards'. While the devil mopes about Christmas being ruined for him, have henchmen and his minions cheer him up with a gift they made him. The devil learns that a gift isn't special because it came from Santa, but because it came from people who care about him.
Honestly, season 3 has made The Devil Wholesome, but it brought new personality. Cuphead on the other hand, well, he’s kinda always been a jerk! Lol
For me, the devil is definitely one of my favorite characters!
Maybe you could do a Mixels review for this year since the show is forgotten about
Merry Christmas Alpha Jay!
Ehh, still better than Fairly Odd Parents' Wishmas.
Finally someone also thinks this, when I told my friends they thought I was insane
Merry Christmas, Y'all!
And I thought Mugman would be crazy
Devil is just another cookie
I mean what about Cuphead possibly (if he's already getting cool crazy screentime)
Merry Christmas
Thomas the train gonna beat you in WWE if you offended his brother chu-chu
But yeah, I like this episode, and I thought it was done perfectly. The Devil was always childish, even from season one. Remember he was upset at being interrupted during a dance number in the very first episode? Honestly, the only episode I actually deign bad for him was this one. Santa was a freaking jerk! He just wanted a train! You're Not My Santa. XP
I enjoyed a very Devil Christmas more than the previous episode, because i am so tired of episodes where are only cuphead, mugman and elder kettle, and where is no other character. When I watched that, I have a feeling that I want to skip, but then I watching the Christmas special with the devil , I was enjoying every second. Well the devil is my favorite character. In season 2 we didn't have more of two episodes of him.
You know that the kid that told the Devil about the Naughty List is named “Sammy Sandwich” right?
Santa should be that wizard boss from the cuphead DLC, this would be nice
He Conured up a Demon Santa Transformation!
Actually the Telephone got his soul back before this episode, in season 2 he somehow got his soul back then taken back again in s3e1 then the Devil took it back again from the episode where he becomes a cat.
Cuphead was mischievous. It’s a different word from “naughty” and has a different number of syllables…
That's a very fair opinion on the episode overall and I definitely agree with some points. One of the things that I really liked about A Very Devil Christmas (or just season 1C in general) is Dave Wasson (the showrunner for TCS) admitted that they had much more fun writing stories for the Devil. In fact, the whole premise for A Very Devil Christmas came from the little joke that says "if you arrange the letters of Santa's name, you get Satan" which is where the entire premise of the episode came from!
The only thing I wish they didn't do with the Devil this season was never give him a single W. Not one, like I can't think of any time he's won. And that isn't necessarily a bad thing, but to take the concept of such a flexible character like the Devil and turn him into just "fandom glorified overgrown cat man who constantly loses" is just a waste of potential. I really hope the show gets picked up for more episodes, because for all we know, maybe this season was for showing the more "casual" side of the Devil and seeing where it lands and all that.
02:46 😂🤣😅😂
This was one devil of a review!
(I'm going to hell for that pun)
hohohow amazing there is a Christmas special this year
Yay
Apparently my first?
This is the craziest Christmas special I've seen in anything. My mom joked about how the show blasphemed Santa. XD
Wait, no, Telephone already got his soul back in the premiere of season 3. His soul was taken again during Roadkill. After that, The Devil gave his soul back.
They have a big crazy in Cuphead and Mugman and how to do things
8:53 What would happen if Santa and the Devil took hold of a Cubit and Mixed.
(I'm referencing Mixels, by the way)
This episode made a subtle nod to Bimbo's Initiation.
My question is how does the Devil not know about the Naughty and Nice list if he's been alive since the beginning of time?
episode/cartoon logic?..
I believe the devil was deliberately kept in the dark by his minions
One question: what kinda car you drive?
agreed @AhlphaJayShow Santa in cup head is crazy. Also I've been busy at the hospital all day helping a family member sorry I couldn't comment sooner
I mean if we're being technical the devil was put down in hell to be the janitor of all things evil and to watch over the souls of the damned. And you might say well that's because he transgressed and stepped on the toes of God yeah but God sort of knew he was going to do that because of omniscience. So the fact that he's eternally on The naughty list just due to his nature is like stacked against him
so smart
Appreciate the support!
Love the devil 😈 ❤
Have you ever heared of Hogfather by Terry Pratchett?
In that book/movie the grim reaper takes over the place of Santa.
Do you still do thoose rise and fall videos for other shows. You should do . Camp lazo or edd ed eddy, or Jimmy neurtron rise and fall if you still do them just wondering question??
Great content love the vids
Santa rearranged is satan lol
I feel the devil would hate Christmas because it's to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ
Hm, fair and valid points and opinions, i can see what you say.
Imo this is the best episode of the show, but I can completely understand why you're mixed about it.
So Santa is Satan xD
