I personally used to love all the sweet and fresh generic fragrances, but discovering This is Him! by Zadig & Voltaire has been a humbling experience. Over time, I realized I didn't want to smell like everyone else .Trying This is Him! was like a gateway to a new world, teaching me to appreciate distinct scents. People who dislike this fragrance might come to appreciate it eventually as their tastes evolve.

Completely disagree with your call on Azzaro Wanted by Night. Thought it was kind of mind blowing, but I really like the fact you called it out as being unfinished because it goes to show you are probably not a hype artist who jumps on fragrance trains. So good job and enjoyed this review!
A very good review! I felt the same as you about this fragrance, it is masculine and modern and somehow dark clean. I think in the drydown it becomes a little bit flat as composition, but I love it. There is also a new fragrance by Zadig & Voltaire, just Rock, a more woodier version in a way, same character.

I agree I always thought azzaro wanted by night wasn't good. I think the original azzaro wanted is much better.

I've had this for a couple of years now. I don't wear it much but it's one of my most loved fragrances! Really creative! Not too common either. Your review is spot on!

I completely agree with you about azzaro wanted by night, unfinished. An added note of amber would’ve smoothed it out, greatly, in my opinion.

Hi AC! To be honest last year, when I bumped into this fragrance, I was stunned by its smell. It was in a small fragrance boutique, where the shop clerk said she had something interesting, and slightly oriental (I don't know why she described it like that), but it was a marvelous little gem. Jumping 1 month later, a friend of mine loved the way it smelled, guess what, he hasn't still returned me the bottle. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. I also am very fond of it, but it smells better on him, in my opinion. When you mentioned grapefruit and creamy I always think of Byredo's Bal D'Afrique... What a stunner, just got a sample the other day, I'm considering a bottle!

Wearing it today, as you say it’s a winner!. Really like sculpted edge of the bottle. Just have to go easy as I do over apply as a rule.

Another great one, AC. Shout out for Icon, which I find myself reserving for more special occasions though it is one of the lowest priced frags in my collection (and I have a backup bottle). And shout out for Prada Amber PH (my fav soap) and Amouage Journey. Will put Voltaire on my list along with Visit - at least because its fun to watch a review, then compare a sample to my description-informed expectations. Great, informative work, based on my experience! Shout for commenter J Dee and the Guerlain focus mentioned below. I gave my old, old gold cap Heritage a wear over last weekend and am excited to try the reformulation to go with my Habit Rouge, soon-to-arrive Vetiver, Vetiver Extreme. Cheers!

I smelled it, quite ok, different, decided to get the shower gel and putting the edt on my list of stuff to consider buying.
I buy it a bottle last week, and is very nice scent. But unfortunately is not long lasting on my skin, is around 5,6 hours.

The newer version is more Vanilla based and got me a massive compliment the other day. The lady went gaga over it :O
Another great review. I have this and love it. However, i don't wear it too often as it is a very powerful scent . Definitely a colder weather fragrance, ideal if you're out and about on an autumn day. Its not a mass appeal scent and I don't wear it to the office. However, its still one that i love, top 5.

I never heard of this fragrances, but I enjoyed the review - and I certainly love a great smelling cheapie...especially if it performs well. Right now I'm wanting to put my mitts on Carolina Herrera CH Insignia Men and CH Kings...but too expensive right now. Cheers!

@@ACSmellsGood They're definitely on the sweet side. The original CH Men (2009-2013) was really a great compliment getter and just blended well with equal parts sugar cane, green notes, and leather (especially the 2009-2011 real leather bottles) but they are hard to come by. The 2014-15 really sucked, but the 2016 formulation ain't too shabby, but still light on the leather and performance isn't the best. Older formulations (bow-tie bottles) have been getting pricey.
CH Men Prive gets rave reviews,but I'm not a huge fan - it's just okay. CH Men Sport is just "Meh!" (but it's inexpensive) and gets trashed in the reviews. Africa is nice (doesn't get rave reviews) and, to me, it's CH Men's version of Le Male for better or worse. Cheap looking bottle. CH Men Central Park is basically CH Men, but substitute Leather for a Wicker Basket accord. It smells just like the bottle looks IMO, and some people will love to hate that wicker basket accord. Not worth the current prices.
CH Men Grand Tour was the gem of the flankers IMO. Too bad his limited edition wasn't widely available and is impossible to find for a reasonable price.

Ahhhh..."This is Him". I considered purchasing this one, but ultimately declined due to it's rumored lack of performance and longevity.
Instead, I purchased "Riiffs - Incense Gold" instead for it's *Rose-Incense-Vanilla-Bomb* status...for half the price of "This is him".
it should arrive in the mail next week and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival...
EDIT: I will have to continue the search for a more budget-friendly sale of "This is him". Your review has re-ignited my interest in this fragrance, and having more than one "Incense-Vanilla" fragrance can't possibly be a sin...hehe.

I have indeed reviewed Wood Essence my friend. I think both are great options but this would suit the cooler weather better.

I would say Terralba by Masque Milano but its quite pricey mate. Another one is Azzaro visit but smells quite different but similar in nature.

Nice review. I have it but, wait for it, I also have the New release which has not yet been officially released (may be in 2020) A.K.A "Zadig & Voltaire This is love!". It is, in my opinion, a fresher and blue version of "this is him! ". I actually like "Zadig & Voltaire This is love!" more than to "this is him!".

Great review Ac. I do agree that this is a gem. I also like This is her. Beautiful. Ac ever smelled Zino by Davidoff.? There is a stage that this fragrance reminds me of it.

@@ACSmellsGood This is her is generally a feminine scent. My gf wears it and it is beautiful. It won a Fifi award if im correct. As for Zino..it has one of the best drydowns ever in perfumery. If it was a Tom Ford it would easily cost £200. If the Rat Pack had a smell this would be it:)

Great review AC! This is one of my favorite cheapies for sure! On my skin, the vanilla and insence are the two most pronounced notes. It's a very beautiful scent, and it lasts all day on me as well! I would highly recommend this one! What is your Instagram I'd? I'd like to follow you on there!

Magnificent review and completely agree with the rant. Y is not worth the bottle it's packaged in. An abomination of a fragrance

This is Him! EdT is, in my opinion, not a good fragrance. And why is that... All I smell is something that I associate with the smell of denaturated rubbing alcohol. And you know if there that one bad "note" in the mix then that is all you can smell and sometimes (many times actually) it just ruins the whole fragrance. I don't even know which note (or some notes together maybe?) it is. My opinion over this is very personal, obviously, so to my fellow viewers of this video: watch this video, enjoy, test it, make your own decision. Good luck! And thanks AC for this video!
Very important, test if a fragrance works on your skin.. there are many that don't work for me, and mostly I dont bother reviewing them.
