  • This is the one hundred and thirty second of the remastered Lorcan Film Unit Videos. There is a total of 10 hours worth of film that we hope to publish over time. Unfortunately Leslie Crowe who was the Director and creator of much of this content is no longer with us. So we are hoping to get your help to figure out the places and the names of the people he captured.
If you turn on the Closed Captions "CC" on the video to see what we know about the footage so far.
If you can help us with any additional information please contact us at lorcanfilmunit@gmail.com

@3:19 - The 27 steps in Summerhill. Demolished in the late 70s/ early 80s. Liberty House flats in the background.

The coalmen ringing a bell used be known as bellmen, didn't think this practice continued into the diesel era.
The French tourist with luggage on the roof of his Renault 4 at O'Connell Street, would not do so now, the luggage would be robbed, or damaged out of badness.
    Tasteful shot around 2.10.

People change - for the worst in Dublins case. Only problem is we who remember those better times still have to live in it .
