It's underrated and I wish it could've been included on the MK Arcade Kollection. No one ever talks about MK4 for some reason. To me this was the last enjoyable MK game.
@duffie. MK4 is one of the most underappreciated games in the series and is actually my personal favorite contrary to the fact that MK fans generally disregard it. I honestly never saw why fans rip on it that hard especially cause it has an amazing soundtrack, amazing character designs, a really dark but beautiful presentation and the announcer is so badass. It has shortcomings like every other game but I played MK4 probably more than any other entry in the series and its actually extremely fluid as far as gameplay goes. I hope that if we ever get a HD collection in future for modern platforms that they include MK4 cause it deserves more love.

I love MK4. I had it on PlayStation and only remember seeing and playing the arcade at two places I knew of. Was the last MK my brother and I played a lot. It was the one MK game I didn't know about because the arcades were pretty much dead at the time in my country.

El hardware zeus ,creo que así se llama la placa dónde corre es complejo de emularse correctamente, aunque parece que se avanzó bastante ,recuerdo que en una época era injugable .Sólo jugué una vez a la versión arcade de mk4 hace más de 13 años y me dejó sorprendido por los gráficos y modelos de personajes . Es un juego muy divertido pero no fue muy valorado en su tiempo

Hi there! I'm from Argentina. I love this game and I wish it were possible to emulate it properly. There's a light issue that still has to be tackled. That issue has been a serious problem since ever. I just can't believe there's still no significant progress on this matter. Why can't this game be fully emulated yet? What's stopping this from being possible? I want to believe that someday I will be able to play this great game on my PC.
For what i heard there is one or two mame developers who understand the zeus chip that this game uses. They were contacted for some players to finish it but seems they are very busy
I agree 100% with this statement, I myself have been longing for a perfect port of this game to be released in the U.S and all over the world.
I think it's being emulated pretty well. Years ago, you could barely make it to the rooms check screen.

Wow, I heard that the arcade ports didn't have Goro. I guess that was true after all.
Can't call the arcade version a port, it's the original version. The PS1, N64, and Dreamcast versions were ports. The Game Boy Color also received a port, a poor one at that.

@@MgoUmk I got it for Playstation, PC and Dreamcast just barely. I want to know what the OFFICIAL sign is that you have the right version. The dreamcast version has 4 extra characters and runs at 60 fps I think.

The jogability of MK4 is incredible, very dynamic. The sound effects are the best of all. The only aspect that I don't like is the graphics and play against Jax
these are not the real arcade graphics, unfortunately this game havent been emulated properly.

@@STK_AKUMA209x yea it did that to me a few times when I got my laptop and set up mk4 and the rest of the mame games on the emulator i almost gave up on it but I tried it again but used the default settings and it hasn't crashed on me since then.

The game runs great. I don't care about the graphic issues. This game it's pure nostalgic. But in retrospective, I think it's the laziest fighting game ever made. Every characters, have the same damn movements and combos. Extrmely basic and unspired background. Any real boss, just a "Shang Tsung wannabe", that doesn't even uses his mimic powers! Boring stage fatalities. Inexistent intro and storytelling. The real highlight of the game, was Quan Chi's fatality, still my favorite of the franchise.
I agree. So much hype was put into this game, but it was basic as hell. MK4 Gold tried to fix it, but the damage was done.
#4 looks like garbage compared to #3.
I agree. I can't remember if I thought that back in the day though. I thought KI looked amazing when it came out, but I can barely look at it now without cringing.
