I’m so glad the drift cart series introduced me into the channel, this is awesome. These old ZXs are one of the few cars which look sick regardless of the ride height. Personally I really like the brown and blue thing you’ve got going on now with the seats, wheels, cage and paint, but if you want to black out the interior that would be pretty sick too.

Such a tastefully done S130, never paid much mind to that chassis, but yours sets a good standard. Now I must continue to collect parts for my Z32 project.

Back in 1996 I used a set of Bushwhacker brand off road flares, made for an S-10, on my friends 78(I believe) 280Z. Of course a full ground effects kit was used too. I still have pics of it, and we're still friends. 😊✌️

Can you tell us how the car handles and rides once you've got some runs in with the air ride? Looks like quite the undertaking, but ive been contemplating doing the same to my S30 for a few years.

Mike, although running the lines through metal is fine, a rubber grommet seal would prevent the line rubbing on the metal and wearing a hole into the line, also alittle worried about welding that support to the steering knuckle like that, normally cast migd wont hold forever and the weld could crack apart, double check the penetration from the knuckle to the coil over support tube, and if needed grab a pipe cut it to a length where the lower section of the shock slides into it and then cut the pipe in half weld both sections around the lower tube of the coil over tube on the knuckle, so weld around the bottom, both cut sides and the top this will give you a reinforced lower section before putting the coil over in
Good call on both! I have installed grommets on all 4 points where the lines go through the body 😁. Also, in the vid I didn’t show it but the body of the coilover fits over a stub on the knuckle. Then it’s welded. I also got waz to do a second pass over my weld and he was happy with it all. I think it’ll hold up fine!

I love these 280 zx's my old boy was a 'datto freak' as he would call them growing up, i think at one stage he had 8x 280s , 7 were parts cars for the 1 and he had an r30 as a daily with 3 of those for spares lol... im not far off but have a range of different cars mostly toyotas and one r32 gtst with a 1jz 😂😂 ..... good to see others playing with these though, makes me want one 😅😅

@@itsmikelake unfortunately he scrapped most of them in the late 2000s and the one main one he was fixing up sold for $800 back in 2010, it was a red targa with twin su's , 240k 5 speed, complete red interior from another shell and the origional black interior spare 😭 i was like 14 when he sold it... spewing

Honestly I found a 280zx for 6k usually it’s worth higher but it’s tempting and it’s a 5 speed and it’s black painted respray maybe that’s why but it doesn’t seem rested it’s tempting tho make it a 500 L28 Twinturbo monster and give it drag slicks is what I want to do
Keep the brown seats they match your rims.
I may have already sprayed them black with the fabric paint 😅
