Great to see the two most prominent film critics of their time give the criminally underrated “Kalifornia” its due praise. Just a brilliant film, with Pitt & Lewis giving two tremendous performances. Even after all the great roles in his career… in my opinion, “Kalifornia” still goes down as Pitt’s best work.

Kalifornia deserves the praise these two heaved upon it. Many of the critics got it wrong, the audience got it wrong, Kalifornia is one of the greatest films exploring the nature of violence.

By the way "Dude" meant a city slicker

That was odd. I know Siskel had heard the term "dude ranch" before and must've had an idea what that meant. And after all, he had seen and reviewed the movie City Slickers in the recent past.

It’s Interesting how movies age given the legacy of the creators. Evidenced in Siskels review- At this point in his career, Quentin Tarantino had an image as a green, disruptive, inexperienced fan boy. Once Pulp Fiction broke onto the scene the game began to change in terms of his Hollywood perception.

Tarantino is overrated; his filmogrophy is mostly crap.

I didn't see _The Ballad of Little Jo,_ but found it hard to believe that it would be better for her to live as a man in the West. I learned that women got the vote in Western states before they did in Eastern ones, suggesting women out West had more freedoms around 1900 to live as they wanted to.
I liked the _Joy Luck Club_ which does talk about how some women are put down in a male-dominated culture, like when the aunt as a teen had an arranged marriage to a younger child, who tells her to sleep on the floor, since she must do what he says.
