    ---June 2022 Giveaway Rules-----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Due to the support the community has given me I'd like to give something back, so we're doing a monthly ship giveaway. This month (June 2022) will be an Anvil Legionnaire with LTI.
    - The ship is a standalone item for the game Star Citizen. It does not include a game package and you will need one to play the game. The recipient will require a Star Citizen account to claim the gift which will be sent to the winner via email.
    - To enter you simply need to comment on any video from May 2022 on the channel before the competition closes at Midnight (UTC) on 31st May. You can enter multiple times by commenting on multiple videos but only one entry will be counted per video.
    - A random number generator will be used to select which video the winner is drawn from, then used again to select a winner from the list of unique commenters.
    - The prize is an Anvil Legionnaire - there is no guarantee that if you seek to exchange it with CIG (the games developer) for store credit that this will be equal to the list price of the ship.
    - There is no alternative to the prize.
    - Please note that the Anvil Legionnaire is a concept ship and as such is not currently available to use in game. Its expected release date is as yet unknown.

    Would love to see an RP'ing nomadic org. A sort of known faction out there acting as a mobile LZ for other single players or smaller squadrons. Maybe an R&R stop is far away, but you know the nomads in the area, request landing and refueling, do a little trading, pay them their dues and off you go. What a great little emergent system that would be.

    • @LoudGuns
      @LoudGuns  Před 2 lety +6

      Yeah that would be awesome to see - I particularly like the idea of operating as part of a floatilla - passing bits and pieces and crew back and forth between ships on the move.

      It wouldn't be hard for such a situation to emerge if it offered protection as its core service. Every other kind of amenity would eventually arise naturally, whether from visiting ships or new additions to the org. Such convoys would also become targets, of course, and I expect some of the most dramatic events will revolve around fleets of this kind. Which, in turn, opens opportunities for content creators to RP as news orgs...

      let us place quantum beacons for UEC, so orgs can host a merchant fleet event and do systems tours, like the Invictus fleet did.

    I'd also put forward the Liberator as an all-rounder support craft, certainly for the smaller two fleets.
    It's a carrier, saving on fuel.
    It's a forward logistics platform and range extender, both for ops away from the main fleet, and for the fleet itself while underway.
    It's a garage, allowing for enclosed refueling, rearming, and repair by hand.
    It's a warehouse, offering more storage for ships, vehicles and goods.
    It's an impromptu dropship for large materiel, should a land claim require it.
    It's a way to shuttle goods back and forth between the fleet and civilization, all while carrying along its own protection.
    And ultimately, it's a barge. Multiple ships damaged or destroyed, and the Crucible is busy? You don't want those wrecks on the float, or to tax the SRV's tractors by constant use. So shuffle them around by putting them on the decks of the Liberator.
    Fun topic, Loud!

  • @Pistolita221
    @Pistolita221 Před rokem

    I feel like a Retaliator would be a great edition to the 100 person org, as 1 retaliator can take out 3 Idris with it's 6 onboard S9 missiles, and a few Gladius (on the Kraken) or a few Vanguard would be able to repel light fighters, and force them, A) outside of firing range of your core ships, or B) force the light fighters to stay on trajectories that are more easily hit by the cannons of the larger ships. Hammerhead's are cool, but they're sitting duck's for a fleet of fighters, and the Polaris is at risk of attack by other capital ships if it gets too close. The stealth Retaliator is the weapon of choice for easily taking capital ships and extra large heavy ships in general.

  • @mattp1337
    @mattp1337 Před 2 lety

    I can imagine that loose associations of small orgs will convoy for mutual aid and complementary capabilities, as well as allowing small action groups to break to pursue opportunities while slower and more vulnerable craft stay with the safety of the group.
    It's easy to imagine such a fleet cycling between resource-rich-but-dangerous deep space regions and the relative safety and commerce of lightly settled frontier, or groups of vulnerable cargo ships escorted by shared protection back to core worlds for maximum returns, while the working fleet remains busy near a rendezvous point in the deep black.
    The important points being that 1) all small fleets will have strengths and weaknesses, so there will always be incentive to cooperate and 2) even small fleets will need to split up to pursue multiple goals sometimes, and allies will again make better options possible.

    halo was my first big introduction to sci fi and ever since i started playing, and learning about it ive been obsessed with the pelican and being a dropship pilot. when i first started playing sc ive been looking for something to quench my pelican flying thirst. ive been trying everything from the pisces to the vanguard (those 2 actually being my favorite ships ingame). but with how few seats the pisces have and the clunky doors of the vanguard its safe to say that ive felt pretty dissapointed, but once i saw the legionnaire i almost jumped out of my seat my brother can vouch for me since ive been pestering him about how cool i think the ship is. i dont really have the money for buying ships and im not a part of any org so i cant really band together with anyone and splurge, i know that it kinda sounds like im begging (because i definetivly am), but i would be ever so greatful if youd help me on the path of becoming a PP (Pelican Pilot). oh yeah also love your vids keep it up man(u swear im nit just kissing your ass for the giveaway... unless its working). also just want to add that you have a very comforting and soothing voice, ok thats all

    • @LoudGuns
      @LoudGuns  Před 2 lety +1

      One thing we were chatting about on discord was how you could use a fleet like this to effectively build your own space stations - if you use the docking ports to connect a variety of ships centred around the Kraken that could be your home base in space while others go off to do various stuff.

    I think it's possible that something great may be born out of this. Normally I'd avoid an org with more members than I could possibly get to know because that defeats the point of joining an org for me. However, I think I would for a nomadic survival fleet. Joining a fleet would mean that you depend on the fleet for survival, and the fleet depends on you for theirs. Making you a part of a REAL crew. Real because it wouldn't matter if you knew anyone on the Merchantman that holds all your supplies. If it came under attack, you'd have a real emotional connection with the rest of the crew simply because it effects all of you.

  • @therealStempec

    I watched your getting organized seriers and i think you should really take a look at the Liberator with SRV combo. When you use a Orion-Hull Combi you need a ship with tractor beams to transfer the cargo --> SRV. Liberator needs just 1-2 Person that can switch to the loaded SRV, basically one person can do the job and the transfer is much easier. There is also place for 2 small ships like Aurora LN for exploration and mining orgs and ground vehicles.

    Love these getting ORGanised videos, in this case the small crew interests me most due to being convenient to organise.
    I guess the question is how long you're out for. An Odyssey or Carrack has 6 crew, and one pallet/SCU of bottled water has ~1728 bottles. That would be enough for 72 days drinking water at 4 bottles per day each. Should be able to carry a lot of food and water in 10scu. I'd therefore rather something more versatile than the Prospector as a snub, maybe two arrows and a pisces.

    • @LoudGuns
      @LoudGuns  Před 2 lety

      That would definitely increase your protection - another comment mentioned the vulture (although I’m not sure it’ll fit) because that could help you cover off repairs.

    I think you overlooked the Liberator for the 5 person or even 30 person fleets. With 400scu and the ability to move prospectors or cutties and fighters as well as ground vehicles, and it is a lot cheaper than the Kraken.
    I've personally been a fan of a liberator with a 315p (tractor beam and exploration scanners) and a prospector (and whatever ground vehicles you can get. Any utility you can get from a ground vehicle basically gets wrapped into utility that a Liberator can bring. Maybe we will get an ambulance some day? On top of that, you can load merlins or other small ships like the pisces into the interior garage) with an expanse flying alongside. This would allow you to mine in the prospector, move the saddlebags with the 315p to the expanse, and move the mined goods into the hold of the Lib. This is really scalable, because you can just add ships to the mix as you add org mates. Maybe the Cat's modularity will bring something useful, or an apollo for medical, a perseus or redeemer to augment your liberator fighters, aquila for exploration, tali if you can swap gun turrets for utility turrrets like scanners or tractor beams plus modular interior means you can mix and match torps with what you need.
    Lots of versatility and scalability all wrapped around the Liberator at its core. And you can make mining, medical, exploration, combat, or a mix of them all with the liberator.
    I expect some repair functionality to be doable by hand, but fuel refining is still a problem. The Lib has the largest fuel tanks of any capital so far apparently, so maybe that would be enough. If not, a starfarer becomes mandatory if the Expanse cannot refine fuel.

      I do not think I am going to keep the BMM as I have NO idea what to do with it without a sizeable org with it. Lib seems like a more small-group friendly ship, especially since it enables gameplay for my friends' ships, whether they backed for an Aurora or an Orion, rather than expecting them to come man turrets or fix power cables on mine.
      I think that is a big plus for the Lib: that it kinda works by itself and is not a selfish big ship to buy that would require a bunch of your friends giving up their autonomy to man your crazy ship

      @@LoudGuns Exactly my thoughts. It is a secondary warship in lore, but it lacks the point defense to deal with more than a handful of torps, and the firepower to slug it out with other capitals, so I really feel like it is super vulnerable to about anything. A single Banu Defender is not exactly an overwhelming force for fighter screening.
      Three fixes. Either:
      A) just give it a TON of point defense and a couple more manned turrets and get rid of the big gun (basically a freighter that escorts itself)
      B) Up its capital weaponry to make it at least a viable capital brawler (on par with perseus, it is so much bigger than one). It doesn't need to beat a Polaris, but at least be a threat for one. I personally like the idea of adding broadside cannons to it to make it more like an old sailing pirate/merchant ship
      or C) Fix the Defender
      I love the Defender, but seeing the BMM, think the defender could use a bit of an overhaul to fill in the BMM's weaknesses.
      In my dream, make it three crew, give it a medium count of s5 torps, and two remote 2xs3 turrets and get rid of the pilot guns. Replace the role the Defender has in universe with some anvil patrol craft (IE large small ship with big quantum range and interior).
      I feel like this makes the BMM a bit more interesting as the Defender and BMM should be seen as a complete package with the Defender taking out small to medium ships and the BMM being a defense against large or capital ships.
      I wrote a lot. I just have feelings about the BMM as it is. It is just a really big, really expensive cargo ship right now and doesn't REALLY seem to be multirole or even self-sufficient at all, which does not keep with the lore for a wandering trade vessel

    The problem with all of this is that, at least given how travel currently works, and the number of planned systems, you'll never be far away from civilization. it takes only minutes to get from planet to planet, and presumably it won't take days to traverse jump points, so you can't really wander into the wilderness, it's more like being at a KOA campground just outside a major city.
    The only way for the deep-dark exploratory orgs to really be possible is if they dramatically slow down travel speeds, or make the verse way way larger with an Elite: Dangerous-style procedural galaxy.
    One possible way to do this would be to make it so the jump points take you vast distances, but you can quantum travel using "slow" FTL to procedural star systems nearby the jump point hubs.

    I come here to escape that and be a passive non-aggressive. But understand that all here aren't that

      I remain hopeful that through game systems and a large enough verse that we can get a game for everyone. A big part of it though is how you view your interactions with other players - if you’re in one of these fleets and a bunch of PvP’ers come across you and blow you up you can always throw your toys out of the pram and scream “griefers” at them, but you could also view it as a learning experience. Maybe the challenge for your org is how long you can survive or how far you can travel? So that one was a failure at x distance but how can you dust yourselves off and try again but better?!

    The Odyssey can only refine its own Fuel, not for others, it also cannot refine external Material. I do hope that they will change that, because it is unefficient.
    You would need the Expanse to do it for now.
    I also hope that we will have in the Endgame, Module like Containers which we can put in Ships to deal with certain problems and I am ok if they are not as good as the bespoken Ship.

    • @LoudGuns
      @LoudGuns  Před 2 lety +1

      So I believe that you should be able to hand refuel the ship in your hangar (ie fill up a Jerry Can from the Odyssey’s tanks and fuel your prospector with it). Anything the prospector mines would have to just be dropped as saddle bags into the odyssey’s hold until you hit up a refinery or have the opp to sell it raw though.
      Yep it’ll be really interesting to see modularity come in - one ship I didn’t include because it’s unknown is the Caterpillar. But I have a sneaking suspicion that once we start to see modules for that it could be very viable for a fleet like this.
