Always been my favorite Country Singer. I’m 77 years old. I was listening to the radio the night they advertised his passing. Never forget everyone’s sadness.
Loved that guy running Chris's Hot Dogs. That friendly talkative attitude is a rare find in this day and age.
its only rare if your not from the south darlin.
@@paulbishop3922 I'm not from the South Sugar.😉
Gus?
@@wsd469 hard to believe so much history happened in Montgomery
Great to learn about Hank Sr. and Chris' hot dogs was a fun place! Glad the owner pulls out all the stops and gives you some awesome history. Wonder how many funerals Coke has catered? Amazing!
So nice of him to spend some time with you Jacob to give us some unknown history.
I always found the story surrounding Hank William's final night and death fascinating. Never heard of the hot dog restaurant, very cool, thanks.
Kawliga ≠ Caligula
LOL. Great video, as usual, Carpetbagger!
Andy Roid I spit out my coffee! Sooo glad that was fixed! 😂

His first albums he put out was under the name of Luke the Drifter. Died sitting in his car of a heart attack was a nice clean way to put it.. a heart attack brought on by Alcohol poisoning.
I have been a fan of Hanks my whole life. My daddy used to sing me to sleep with Hank songs.
Thanks for this video.. I will make it down to Montgomery one day and pay my respects to Hank and Miss Audrey .
I have alot of those 45's and a cool box set , it's all first pressings.edit: meant to say a box set of 45s and abunch of 78s of Luke the drifter
The morphine had nothing to do with it
Hank Sr. died from a heart attack caused by the combination of alcohol, morphine, and chloral hydrate
I Am Barbara Ann this is not true, he attained the name “luke the drifter” after he hit stardom. He wanted to dabble in gospel and it did not do as well.

Hank Williams is my cousin and he was a great country music artist and that made him a bigger legend
Hunter Kelley is he really
Yes
I believe you bub I don't see why you would lie about that its not like you're trying to get attention from the younger folks... Hank Willams SR was a legend and be proud of your heritage
No your not
Hank Williams was my Grandpa. Just saying..🤷🏻♂️
Awesome to see you here in my hometown. Have always enjoyed your videos. Hope you enjoyed it.
Another interesting story about Hank Williams Sr is the story about his daughter that he never got to meet who he did acknowledge as his child. She was born a few days after his death. Her name is Jett Williams. She has produced a box set of Hanks music some never before heard of.
Hank's telling of Kawliga is about a wooden cigar store Indian who has feelings for another wooden Indian across the street, a female, who is for sale at an antique store. Kawliga never expresses his feelings for her, and one day a "wealthy customer" buys her from the store and takes her far away, never to be seen again. It's basically a cautionary tale about how you should tell somebody you are interested in how you feel; because you never know when they will exit your life forever and take any chance of a relationship, if it existed at all, with them. It's something a lot of people have experienced at least once in their lives, myself included, and that is what made Hank's music so special. His songs were an anthology of the human experience, in a way. It is difficult to find a hardship, heartache, emotion, etc. that does not have a Hank Williams song to go with it, and the most raw part about that is the man likely felt every single word he put to song.
Montgomery, Alabama is definitely on my bucket list now!
One correction, The figures inside the guitar were not the 3 Hanks.. L-R was Hank jr, Hank Sr, and "Uncle" Lum York who played stand up bass for Hank Sr.
I knew the 3rd did country but I didn't know he did metal. That old diner has had a ton of famous people.
Ass Jack is the name of his metal band, he also played bass for the metal band Superjoint Ritual.
I ❤️ Hank Williams
Me too
My husband is a HUGE Hank Williams fan. And ironically, Hank literally died on the day I was born but several decades later. Sept. 17, 1953 he died and I was born Sept. 17, 1987. Creepy, lol. And my husband has a copy of Hank's actual death certificate. I can't wait for him to see this video. I shared it to his fb, lol.
My great uncle Elmer Gilbert Baldwin Jr. was the tow operator who unloaded the $3 million car from an 18- wheeler and 24’ rollback tow truck into he building. February 8, 1999, the car is 24’ 9” and the rollback was 24’, biggest in the fleet, under Waldrip Wrecker Service.
King of Country Music Never will there ever be another
Hank is to Country what Elvis is to Rock n Roll. he died so young he had so much more to give. great vid thanks.
I really loved this video! THANK YOU!!!! R.I.P. Hank Williams Sr.
This was an unexpected delightful video . I learned a lot about Hank Williams.
I like the T-shirt you had on , nice color on you.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
My all time favorite performer !! Love it I’ve been suggesting this on livestreams for months lol
Awesome episode man, I love all Hanks and Chris’s restaurant!!! The owner was great! What a cool dude!!
Excellent work. I'm really enjoying your videos. Thanks for sharing! :)
Another great vlog! I’m a Hank Williams fan and hope to go there one day. Thanks for sharing, Jacob.
Fun video Jacob! But Hank Williams Sr. Only released *2* studio albums not 210 albums in his 6 year caraeer hun. He had posthumous albums later etc and compilation albums after his death. Those are not albums on his grave but hit songs.
Thank you for this special time in history ❤️ loved every minute of it.
Great video! I really appreciate the historical aspects of the the videos.
i truly enjoyed your tour of the hank museum and chris's kitchin and the grave site. sincerly smokey binion, jr.
I love this video one of our country legends, Hank Williams Sr. Actually, I love all of your videos. You have covered a lot of interesting sites. Keep it up!
Chris’s hotdogs are amazing. Definitely my childhood.
I'm so glad your content is thoughtful and new. You my friend think out of the box!
You gotta love it- the guy starts off his video by saying he was too lazy to do any research about the topic of the video!
just visited today, great layout and super nice staff. Rest in peace hank williams
Excellent video. I've been wanting to check out that museum.
Love your videos, keep them coming.
Hank Williams is awesome I love his stuff and have his complete box set of his music
Hi Jacob another great video very interesting and love the information from the owner of Chris hot dogs and the footage of the final resting place of Hank Williams was very beautiful to see thanks again for all you do great work :)
What a wonderful host is the man at Chris'. nice stories.
Also had not realized he was that young when he died. Very interesting esp the history lesson you got from Charlies. That is the most well kept grave sight I think I have ever seen. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
This was an INCREDIBLE video!
Hope you enjoyed our Capital! Glad to see you in town!
love everything about this video! ❤️
VERY GOOD - - THANK YOU - - for your showing us all a lot of HANK WILLIAMS and HIS life in this video - -,Joe Nania a.k.a. Hollywood Joe
Very cool vlog. Can't believe how many records he put out.
stop by there a week ago, great museum
Awesome videos really like them
I know Chris is a historic site, but the owner should seriously cleaned stove and grill cause that is nasty. Food all over, grease buildup. That just screams food and health hazard, and a health inspector would agree.
It's perfectly legal.
Send in Gordon Ramsay!
It’s passed health inspectors for over 100 years so I think it’s doing just fine!
I have a few comments. Thanks for sharing the video.Hiram was his first name.Hank learned music from a old blues player nicknamed Tee tot.He has never been reinstated to the "Grand Old Opry?"He is a member of the Country H.O.F,Rock and Roll H.O.F and the Songwriters H.O.F.And seeing the car he passed away in broke my heart. He didn't pass away peacefully. But,his music will live on.
Great video from Hank's Museum and grave site to Chris's, That's my kind of joint! I gotta get some grub there my next time through. 🎻🌭🤠
Great video ...
Thanks for sharing .. 🤗
Wow died at 29 but released that many records becoming a Country legend. Thanks for this video showing us some history of Hank.
Awesome vlog Jacob!!!! That hot dog looked good!! That owner is so nice☺ I enjoyed this vlog so much. Have a great Thursday everyone💞
My late wife and I were through Montgomery in Sept of 2011. I never knew about Chris's but sure will make it a point to visit there on my next trip when things get safer.
Great video , found it very interesting ..
Wow cool place never been there.
Hank Williams was a good country singer.
Nice museum about him.
You made me laugh how you pronounced Kaw-liga, lol
I took my mom to see hank 3 before she passed away.both got hammered lol
Wait like drunk or murdered with a hammer??
"The Backseat of Heart Failure" just happens to be my favourite Hank Williams song.
Thank you so much for posting this sir. Hank Williams gave us so much and is not given the credit he deserves here in euro land. May the Lord bless and keep him.
Thanks 4 the video! When I went there years ago they told me No Pictures in the Museum! CJ
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I love Hank music.
i went to Chris"s a few times many years ago.... it looks the same .... love it
Great video as always Jacob, I've been craving a chili dog lately!
What fun!! I really enjoyed the Hank Williams movie that came out not too long ago, what a life for only 29 years!!!! I would love to see the museum some time. Going over to Chris's was such a fun added bonus! What a kind owner to give you so much time and information!! I wish I lived closer...I would be there! I wonder how far this is from Gatlinburg, I do try to get there 2 to 3 times a year...this might be worth an extra jaunt. Speaking of which...I am going down to Gburg in May, July & November this year and on our trip in July we are planning a stop in IN to the world's largest ball of paint thanks to you!!! I LOVE when you try some of the different foods at places!
Im loving your work i find you very interesting
Great vlog would love to see more
I live 2 hours north but visit here often, the museum is like extended family. Looks like you had a great time! "Tee Tot" the black man that taught Hank a lot of his musical knowledge is buried in an unmarked grave on the other side of Montgomery. When I visited years ago, I left Hank's grave at midnight and headed up High Street for the other cemetery. An elder black man was by the road at a stop sign so I rolled down my window and inquired about the cemetery, his response stuck with me "Oh yeah, it's straight ahead back behind the new walmart... but really, any street in this neighborhood will get ya to the cemetery this time of night little white boss" He then shook my hand and wished me luck lol. Got to the cemetery and did find a sign mentioning that Rufus "Tee Tot" Payne is buried in an unmarked grave, the rest of the cemetery was just eerie with probably 75% of the graves busted open with skulls and coffins etc totally exposed.
Wtf
@@bandccoresohio that was generally my reaction too.. but it was a pretty fun night all things considered
Someone needs to get Tee Tot a marker, I mean come on, Really!!
so sad people vandalize cemetaries, no respect for the dead
Im going to love this vlog.
Excellent video thanks!
Finally a place I’ve been too!
OH MY GOD I WOULD HAVE DIED TO BE IN THAT MUSEUM
Nice video man
Hank Williams Sr is undoubtedly the most talented artist Country Music has ever had. 6 or 8 encores on his grand ole opry debut, unheard of.
hank 111 looks excactly like his grandfather
Dwayne Woods he does, doesn’t he!
@john creech Hank Williams jr son.
@john creech yes there is you moron. Learn your history
I wish I could meet hank Williams jr. He's my favorite singer
Surprised not to see anything about the movie Tom Hiddleston was recently in portraying him at the museum...excellent choice for the role. This hotdog place reminds me of Coney Island in Ft Wayne, IN. I’m sure it was excellent! The owner seems like a sweet guy!
Always happy to see you in Alabama!!!
My dads favorite singer! My dad Bert Smith could yodel & sing just like Hank! He knew and sang all his songs when he was driving. God bless Hank and my Dad! Dad had a great country voice but was too shy to sing in public!
Dr. Ivan Malinin performed the autopsy at the Tyree Funeral House. Malinin found hemorrhages in the heart and neck and pronounced the cause of death as "insufficiency of the right ventricle of the heart".[80] That evening, when the announcer at Canton announced Williams' death to the gathered crowd, they started laughing, thinking that it was just another excuse. After Hawkshaw Hawkins and other performers started singing "I Saw the Light" as a tribute to Williams, the crowd, now realizing that he was indeed dead, sang along.[70] Malinin also wrote that Williams had been severely beaten and kicked in the groin recently. Also, local magistrate Virgil F. Lyons ordered an inquest into Williams' death concerning the welt that was visible on his head.[81]
Wow what an interesting video!
Best country singer, cannot be beat. I grew up listening to this man
I didn’t know he was that young when he died. Wow. I grew up on hank JR.
Welcome to Alabama!
If you had traveled about sixty miles south to Georgiana, Alabama, you could have toured his childhood home :) It’s a tiny town but has that as its claim to fame!
Hank Sr. Hank jr. And hank 3 are some of the best country musicians
I love this video
Very interesting!
Cool places
Long Gone Possum Blues
Nice video
Awesome thank you
Jr. didn't die in the Caddy. He may have been conceived there, but he's still alive.
Good one, Jake 👍🏼
Silly YT. No views, no thumbs up or down, but 7 comments? :) It was another great video! I've wondered about him since Tom Hiddleston (Loki) did a movie portraying him.
I just left his boyhood home in Georgian Alabama sorry if I misspelled it but it was a neat stop i loved it
"Kawigula??!" 😂
I think they had land around Jack, AL. Growing up I would hear that Jr. Would hang out in the Walmarts along 231 and mess with people on the cb. I lived across the road from his grave for a few years and worked across from the museum. Lot of fun in that town
Right away I was like BRO It’s pronounced “caw-lye-jah” lmao love your videos man. Also I have that same old Vizio tv in my guest room lol
