  • PHASE PLANT ON LINUX
PLEASE NOTE: I CANNOT GUARANTEE THIS WILL WORK ON YOUR COMPUTER.
I have it working on two computers with KUBUNTU 20.04
64-bit VSTs. It may not work on other Linux distros.
I have tested on Ubuntu Studio 20.04 with PlayOnLinux unsuccessfully.
Future updates to KUBUNTU / PlayOnLinux / Carla may prevent it from working.
You may want to use a partition with KUBUNTU 20.04 installed and keep it just for Phase Plant working correctly without updates.
    STEP 1
    With Muon Package Manager
    Install Carla
    Install carla-bridge-win64
*Check that carla-bridge-wine64 (wine DLL) and others
    are also installed.
    STEP 2
    With Muon Package Manager
    Install PlayOnLinux
    STEP 3
Install the Kilohearts Installer.exe with PlayOnLinux
It will say PlayOnLinux has crashed. You can close this window as the Kilohearts Installer.exe will run anyway.
When tested on Ubuntu Studio 20.04 this crash was the end of the line.
KUBUNTU 20.04 is used in this video and the Kilohearts Installer works in spite of the crash warning.

Thanks for sharing your steps, I am considering Phaseplant in Renoise as the software basis of a Raspberry pi based handheld instrument. The last hurdle is getting a windows plugin to work in PI Renoise. This will help a lot ^^

thanks. you might find kilohearts snapheap better for CPU.
snap heap and using a sampler or synth before it is basically phaseplant but without the sampler / synth part.
if you are using the pi - Renoise will run fine on it and you can do a lot with it.

@@noiseaud I appreciate the suggestion CPU load is my big worry with this project.
Renoise definitely offers plenty of MIDI-friendly generator options on its own. I’ll probably opt for snap heap then thanks!

i saw bitwig in your directory, are you able to launch phaseplant in bitwig with your setup?

Hi, Phaseplant is run through Carla and Carla should open in Bitwig or other DAWs without a problem. I don't have this all set up anymore to test in Bitwig but if the steps in the description are successful - any DAW should be able to launch Phaseplant via Carla.
