I met him through a dj friend from around the way back in 1998 and went over to his house once to spin. He did this whole routine for us. Cool dude and very humble.
anyone know where he is today?!?!?! It's wild that this is on the internet. I always thought this was the most slept on routine of that era. I remember hearing this dude and thinking Maaaaan he's got those orbits down and so much flavor in the juggles. Everything was so precise. I grew up obsessed with a few DJs and was always bummed that I could never find any more routines and such from this guy. Blew my mind. So glad I decided to search for this today. I used to have this on VHS
This dude was dope as hell! I only found one other video of Rukas at Rock & Soul i believe. Anyone know his whereabouts? Not only him, other DJs that I haven't seen or heard from since this era,,,Do-Boy, Infamous, Develope, DJ Noize? I hope they are alive and well and of course DJing
Infamous has produced for the likes of Lil' Wayne and Fat Joe (he did the song 'Hey Joe'). Do Boy got into web design at the end of the '90s. Noize DJs for a big band in Denmark, and still does solo DJ appearances. He actually did one of those TED talks not too long ago. Develope, yeah, he produced 'Rap God for Eminiem!!
This is an absolutely legendary routine. On par with Ca$h Money, Roc-Raida, Craze, P-Trix, Klever and all the other DMC U.S. Champions.
Hall of fame set, mad year, everyone on it? the best year in turntablsim imo.
