    "It's not the push it's the pull". Thank you very much Blair. After 1 hour of trying to fix my clogged toilet, I finally got my toilet to flush. The mistake I made was that I was pushing the plumber harder than I was pulling it. Thank you for uploading this video. Super helpful!

    25 years old and never had a clogged toilet in my life. Flushed down a toilet paper roll and your “it’s the pull” tip really helped me! Tried again after watching your video and toilet is unclogged. I don’t have to call my landlord or plummer now. Thank you!

    This was so helpful I went out, bought the tools and was able to fix my toilet by myself. Every few months my toilet slows down and eventually comes to a hault, usually I call my landlord but this was much easier. Thank you Mr. Hardware!

    Thank you! I had been working a bad plunger for an hour until I saw your video, then I bought a better plunger and did the "pull" instead of "push" emphasis and it was fixed in like 10 minutes. Didn't have to call the landlord or a plumber. Thanks for saving my weekend.

    Omg, sir! You just helped me unclog my toilet. I watched a dozen videos, tried bleach, dish washing soap, hot water, plunging for 15 seconds but nothing worked. But your method of the pull instead of the push helped. Thank you!!!

    You just saved us a plumbing call and lots of frustration and time. Our child put some unknown object in the toilet and it was clogged. Plunging didn't help. We tried that for hours until we found your video. A quick trip to Home Depot, and $9.95 for the cheapo router snake, bingo, it did the trick. Thank yoU!!!

    Hi Blair. Love your videos.
    A while back I had issues with my economy auger because the line was being circled back. I found this out from the plumber that came out to clear the toilet. I went out and bought a 6' "industrial" closet auger for about $45. I wish I had started with that one years ago. It pounds through just about anything. You'll still have to remove the toilet for big toys and things in there but for normal TP clogs and items that aren't quite as big, this will take care of it all.

    "It's not the push; it's the pull" Mr. Hardware, these words have just save my family so much money, if we would have needed to call an emergency plumber service on a Sunday!!! I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to make this instructional video, 1st on how to properly use my plunger (I have the same one you used in the video), lastly using those infamous words it's the pull and not the push. Again, I thank you.

Immediately after watching this video I headed down to my garage to retrieve the auger and after five minutes I was able to pull the razor blade from my bathroom toilet. Saved me time and money.

    Mr. Blair: Thank you for your advise. My toilet is often plugged by hard stools," you medicine folks know what i'm talking about," and the water drains very slowly. I use a 6ft auger and still no change, so i saw your trick. I first used a 1/2cup liquid soap and a 6gal pot of boiling water, then took the plunger and let the air out it "don't get a face full of ?" and pushed and pulled one time and BAM! IT WORKED!!!
    Thanks for saving me a huge plumbers bill.

  • @MrHardware1
    @MrHardware1  Před 10 lety +20

    When using a closet auger, insert the bent tubing w/the cable retracted. once the bend of the tubing is in the bottom of the toilet push the crank handle down so the cable goes up into the toilet until it stops. usually about 10 inches. Then continue pushing while cranking and the cable will work its way past the trap and hopefully dislodge the obstruction.

    I learned something new... just got my own place recently, which means dad is not here to unclog toilets. I want to thank you- I finally unplugged my toilet after 4hrs of trying. Thank you for emphasizing that when using a plunger the "pull" is the trick. I got a plunger same as yours, so got rid of the air, pushed and vigorously pulled... voila! Thank you!!!!!! cuz I have to, and I have a sink and soap nearby.
    A spoon is going to be a toughie, possibly the closet auger will hook it and you'll get lucky. I would anticipate pulling the toilet and turning it upside down and hoping to push the spoon out with an auger.

      Blair Gilbert I and my Father in Law had to pull a toilet. Anyone for kids toys? We replaced the seal and all was well. I was surprised at how many toys we found! Well, love our kids! Next was a fetish. using tons of toilet paper! My wife said.show him how to clean himself! She was always unplugging the toilet! When we think back we do have to laugh and it is all in family!

    • @bungal251
      @bungal251 Před 9 lety +1

      Blair Gilbert... this is paramount and NOW! I had a bad contractor for a new home. The septic was already here and was a two stage! However, the contractor took the basement soil and dumped it on the seepage bed and over the tank. The septic worked fine for 7 years and finally, after a big freeze of up to a minus 20, it no longer worked. Since it was winter and no access to the outside pluming, I could do nothing. The toilet is full. I finally am using a bucket for solids. What is the first step in figuring this out. I was told the septic tank has a lever which was probably changed during the work for the new home! Would it be the tank is full or is it bad plumbing. I had a plumber look at the system for other reasons and he left and would not return my calls! Well, it is a manufactured home and he used other than licensed! Any ideas with the first most probable first? Thanks!

    Mr. Gilbert. I've spent the last 5 hours looking at different websites and youtube videos (even your low flush one) and trying all sorts of things, rotating with plunging, to bring flush pressure back up.
    Our 10-year old clogged it (which makes me laugh as hard as can be, when you mention "your 10-year old" at the front of this video... Anyway, I was trying hot water and dish soap, CLR to clear the jets, vinegar or bleach down the overflow tube, coat hanger, etc...
    After watching this video on "it's the PULL, not the push." I fixed it in 45 seconds.
    I'm a fan for life, and if I lived in or near Michigan, would be a customer for life. Nowhere else, in my research, did I see anyone mention something as simple as "push, then PULL."
    Thanks for putting your videos up.

    A Very Merry Unbirthday To You, Mr. Blair Gilbert.
    I soooo much thank you for this video. My sister dropped a computer tablet stylus and then flushed it. It stopped up the tissue but not water only. We did not have a closet auger but we had a bendable long dryer brush. It seems to have done the trick. If not we will go buy a closet auger or toliet snake and try that.
    My mother wants us to try and put in a new toilet kit (she's been wanting to do this for over a year now). I would rather not as I'm not good with DIY projects. If those two fixes above don't work I guess I will be putting in a new toilet.
    Anyway, thank you for your time, you knowledge and you video.

    Hi Blair I'm having an issue with my toilet and not exactly sure what it could be. The water in the bowl keeps going down gradually. I can flush the toilet and it bubble up and I might have to push the handle down again to get it to flush correctly. It will work, but after water fill the bowl back up normal place, if you come back in about 20 minutes or so the water level in the bowl will be almost gone. The back of tank on the back of the toilet is not running trying to fill the tank up. The water is at the right level in the tank. I don't know what to do. How can i get the water level in the toilet bowl to stay at normal level??? Any help is much appreciated!!
