    I do not understand you people, but I wanted to thank Mr. Redman. I needed to hear what he said, about how we should never run out of things (praise) to say to God.

    there are a lot of answers to that...God is so holy, and so good, and so righteous, that just nobody with any darkness in them can come near him and not die... which is why Jesus came around to cover our darkness with his light.

    I am an ex christian. I have read the bible. I did pray for gods salvation. And the "peace that passeth all understanding" did not come to me. I prayed many many times for that. So many things left me feeling like a fool for having believed in them to start with.

    Loving parents however inform their children about the road and the dangers therein. The Loving and Living God has done so through His commandments. He has also given us the freedom to choose to go on the dangerous road - or not.

    The idea of hell could also be benign if you just believe that hell isn't real. I have seen a lot of people in church who seem caught up on a treadmill of worry about hell, i was one of them. Ministers appear to say, " oh you need to do more to avoid going there " and it seems never certain just what needs done or how firmly it is necessary to believe or what to believe to avoid hell. A caring God would not let hell happen to folk but then we don't like the idea of people getting off with crimes

    I'll carry the analogy further in order to clarify my point. If it was a street or road that was among the busiest in the world, for instance the autobahn, where cars can legally go over 150 mph, do you think that any loving parent would allow their child to run onto that? How much worse is it then to not only not provide the fence but to also make it very easy for the child to do so. So many things simply to not make sense. It reminds me of the 'doublethink' described in 1984.

    If so, you it is impossible for you to be an ex christian. Anyone who accepts Yeshua as their Lord and Saviour remains in Him (and He in them) and bears Christ like fruit - there are no exceptions. This is because followers of Jesus put their faith in Him into action in their lives and the lives of those around them, no matter their situation or circumstance. The righteous shall live by faith, not by sight (senses)....

  • @misterkevinoh
    @misterkevinoh Před 11 lety

    As a Christian, you should take the Bible as literally as possible. The messages aren't muddled to those God reveals it too. This is why we need "GOOD" pastors who love God and God reveals these messages to them, unless you love God so much already and you seek his messages avidly, then he will reveal it too you. It's not about being a kind person, but a person who would lay it all down for the Lord. I KNOW it may seem silly to believe everything in the Bible, but you have to accept it as truth.

  • @historian186
    @historian186 Před 12 lety

    You forget one thing.. children are usually the offspring of their parents. We are the offspring of God - we were made in His image, we have His spiritual DNA, tainted though it has become by sin. Thus we have the capability to make the right choices 100 per cent of the time, just like Jesus, who has never sinned, and never will. But even when we do, God has provided an escape route through Yeshua - who was slain before the foundation of the world for our sake. Jesus IS the cut off point

  • @86kdanc
    @86kdanc Před 12 lety

    There is a cut off point for where a loving parent should allow something to be the decision of the child. Where the risk for critical harm is involved. And that is where that will not be left up to the child at all. And as I said before, it doesnt make sense at all to not only not have that cut off point but to make it incredibly easy to make the wrong decision. Can you not see that?

  • @zytigon
    @zytigon Před 12 lety

    Hi Benlucas6, How about " Forgive them for they know not what they do "? There are some great themes in the Bible like love for your enemy. Grace, Care for those who don't deserve it, love for others because that is the only way to win. Love is the way to stay positive & human otherwise if you sink in hate then you become bent like the cynics and haters. The God that is love which loves because of who it is not who we are, such a God will take me to heaven if he & it exists & if I have a soul

  • @86kdanc
    @86kdanc Před 12 lety

    By cut off point I mean that it is impossible to do otherwise, not to just have to chance to make the right choice. Like a wall that is too high to climb. Yet that is not the case according to biblical passages. It is incredibly easy to make the wrong choice. Picture a cliff edge. Instead of there being an impossibly high wall there is a slippery slope with nearly no handholds and a lot of very pleasant things close to the edge. Now do you see what I mean?

  • @misterkevinoh
    @misterkevinoh Před 12 lety

    @zytigon A loving God would let US choose what we want. We don't deserve to go to Heaven. But instead of letting us die, God sent Jesus to die instead. Because he loves us. He doesn't force love. Let go of that pride brother.

  • @historian186
    @historian186 Před 12 lety

    Sorry, I did not see this post. You might have prayed for God's salvation, but did you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour in ALL areas of your life? Were you aound people who TRULY love and follow Him, to guide and support you?

  • @ChristopherC1115
    @ChristopherC1115 Před 11 lety

    it matters very much..it isnt a book to help u perform better.no performance is great enough to "earn" heaven.death must be paid for sin.even if u only sinned once in ur entire life.the bible is a love story about a God who loves u so much He paid ur price.the only way were saved is thru grace.if we only view it as a morals booster we miss the point:salvation thru Jesus Christ(belief in Him)is a gift from God &the only way to heaven.the life changes are response to great love of/from God.=)

  • @zytigon
    @zytigon Před 12 lety

    Hi snizzaluff, I agree that there are some good ideas in the Bible. I like the ideas of love your neighbour and love your enemy, don't wear yourself out to get rich ( if you damage your health you might end up poor anyway ), ideas that encourage faithfulness to marriage partner. Modern christian culture is more about being caring and law abiding and successful in career and relationships than stuff written in the Bible. There are also nonsense and poisonous ideas in the Bible though.

  • @zytigon
    @zytigon Před 12 lety

    Hi snizzaluff, Well the main idea which could be poisonous is that anyone is going to suffer after death, but see Rob Bell, ' Love wins '. The idea of hell could be benign if the person who is afraid says to their parents, " I'm afraid of going to hell " and they get the reply, " Don't worry son, everything is going to be ok, jesus will take us all to heaven " and you accept that, " Oh ok, that's nice, we'll all go to happily ever after ".

  • @zytigon
    @zytigon Před 12 lety

    Well I think it is possible to be loving and caring even though you think there is no God. It is important to acknowledge all the verses in the bible that do support or encourage loving caring behaviour. After all Jesus said that true disciples were the ones who followed his teachings and acted like good samaritans rather than pious pharisees. I recommend 1 Cor 13v4-7, Romans 12v9-19, Gal 5v22, 1 John v 9-11.
    Be caring, don't hurt anyone. Romans 13v10

  • @zytigon
    @zytigon Před 11 lety

    Here are the concepts I worship: it is good to be caring: Matt 7v12 & not hurt anyone: Romans 13v10 , prioritise & focus on love: 1 Cor 13v1&13, aim to live at peace with others: Hebrews 12v14, but there is also a time for war & a time for peace: Eccles 3v8. Show love to 'enemies' : Matt 7v44. Don't distort truth by calling people nasty names which exaggerate : Matt 5v22. bear good fruit: Gal 5v22. Seek all truth : John 16v13. Not everything is beneficial or constructive : 1 Cor 10v23

  • @zytigon
    @zytigon Před 12 lety

    There are various aspects to the Bible. There are several good rules of thumb and pointers to good moral behaviour and decency. But the messages are very muddled. Maybe we could make a version of the Bible where all the verses which focus on being loving are grouped together. 1 Cor 13v1 has Paul recommend a focus on love & care. If the ideas in the Bible have helped you to be a warm, kind, compassionate person then does it matters if the overall story is or isn't real.

  • @rollock
    @rollock Před 11 lety

    We don't 'deserve' to go to heaven. Hell is eternal life without God. Heaven is eternal life in Gods presence. The media has taken Hell and the devil, and made it out to be that you go to hell because you do bad things. Don't succumb to medial perception, you go to heaven because you want to spend eternity with God.
    God does let us choose what we want, we choose to follow God, therefore we will be in heaven for eternity in God's presence.

  • @historian186
    @historian186 Před 12 lety

    But there is a cut off point.... Jesus dying on the cross for us, then rising from the dead, taking the consequences for us "crossing the dangerous road", as you put it. So it would be foolish for us to go and cross the dangerous road again, again, again and again.....

  • @look2jesus777
    @look2jesus777 Před 12 lety

    @zytigon 'freethought' authors who are in bondage to sin. Try some real freethinking. Start with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

  • @historian186
    @historian186 Před 12 lety

    To carry your analogy further, you are implying that ALL parents whose children run out into the street are bad. I leave you to make a call on that. The reason so many things do not make sense to you is that you are looking at them using human "wisdom". When they are looked at using God's Wisdom, they make perfect sense. God's Wisdom is available in His Living Word, the Bible and through intepretation by the Holy Spirit. You have to accept Yeshua as your Christ first though.

  • @snizzaluff
    @snizzaluff Před 12 lety

    btw, Rob Bell... you should not get your learning from him. That book, Love Wins, is not the truth of the gospel and will lead you astray from God's Truth.

  • @86kdanc
    @86kdanc Před 12 lety

    No. He would not. Any (good) parent out there who cares about what is best for their child is not going to let them make the most horrible choices. For example running out into the street. They are not going to let them even have the chance of doing it. And what could be more horrible than being punished for all eternity. That is one of the reasons I turned atheist. Too many things that don,t make sense.

  • @zytigon
    @zytigon Před 12 lety

    Why not treat yourself to some wonderful thoughts by freethought authors Robert M. Price, John W. Loftus, Dan Barker, Valerie Tarico, Victor J. Stenger, Christopher Hitchens, Tentmaker777, wisdomcommons. A loving good God would take everyone to heaven. If Jesus could save, he would take everyone to heaven. How could Jesus forgive himself unless he forgave & saved everyone ? Do you think Jesus would damn people for thinking the bible stories sound like fiction- when they do sound like fiction.

    nicki minaj really?

  • @snizzaluff
    @snizzaluff Před 12 lety

    I'm sorry, but this is a false way to believe. You cannot just believe hell isn't real and then it isn't. It is real. There is nothing we can do to gain entrance to heaven. Our works will never get us there. It is the belief in Jesus as the Son of God that grants us entry. A caring God gives us the chance to not go to hell. It is up to us to choose to accept the gift and then use it. Just like we don't let criminals go neither can God. He is Holy and sovereign.
