  • Curry leaves rice, also known as "karuveppilai sadam" or "karibevu chitranna," is a flavorful South Indian rice dish made with cooked rice, curry leaves, and various spices. It's a nutritious and aromatic one-pot meal that's perfect for lunch or dinner. The dish typically includes ingredients like mustard seeds, lentils (such as chana dal or urad dal), coconut, tamarind, and cashew nuts for added texture and flavor. The dish is often served with yogurt, pickle, or papadum on the side.
    Ingredients:
    1 cup(200gm) - Raw rice (I used sonamasoori rice) or basmati rice
    2 cups water
    2 tablespoons oil
    1 teaspoon mustard seeds
    2 tbsp Raw peanuts
    5-6 Cashew nuts
    1/2 small Onion chopped
    Curry leaves paste
    1 dried red chilies
    1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
    Salt to taste
    For curry leaves paste:
    1 Fistful curryl eaves
    1 teaspoon urad dal (split black gram)
    1 teaspoon chana dal (split chickpeas)
    1-2 Green chilli
    1 inch Ginger
    3-4 Garlic cloves
    2tbsp coriander leaves
    1 large grape size tamarind
    2-3 tbsp grated coconut
    1/4 cup water
