OUT OF SEASON - Torn Between Two Styles

- Allotments fascinate me. The bigger and more chaotic they are the better - old sheds full of gardening tools, greenhouses with makeshift shelves, plants and things to squirt the plants with - there's something very primeval about it all.
Our local allotments inspired me to put pencil and paint to paper - in fact, I ended up with no fewer than three different interpretations of it - a sketch, a watercolour and a line and wash - all because I was struck by the temptation to finish my painting off halfway through, by taking an ink pen to it - what's a man to do?...

You give beauty to everything. Wonderful tones of colors and your loose style adds so much character to the painting. Double thumbs up!!
Beautiful process. Line and wash terrifies me. I vote for the all water color. All have their own benefits.
Thanks '_Fork_' - line and wash can be a little scary, but once you let go and just enjoy it, the results can be very satisfying. Pure watercolour gets another vote... that's evened things out a little... suddenly not such a clear leader...
Thanks. These are all stunning. Love your Watercour work the best.
Absolutely love your colour palette in these paintings.
Thanks Judith - I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
Unfortunately I cannot decide out off the 3 as I appreciate all 3!
The only way I would be able to choose is to flip a coin and even then I wouldn't be happy to say that, that one was my favourite.....just lovely!
I too am terrible with decisions - thanks for the great comments Khris - I'm pleased you enjoyed it!
Gardening and watercolor- two of my favorite things. You are quite an artist. The video was a work of art in itself! Thanks for sharing your skills.
I'm not so much the gardener - that's more my wife's domain - it's good to hear that you are able to combine the two passions, though. Thank you for the great comment, Reba - I'm pleased you enjoyed it!
They were all very well executed thank you
You're very welcome - I'm pleased you enjoyed it - Thank you very much for the comment.
Great video. Thank you
You're very welcome Meera - thank you for the comment!
I enjoyed this so much thank you … 👌🏻
You're very welcome Maria - I'm really pleased you enjoyed it - love the emoji...
All three are gorgeous. If I could pick one for my wall, it would be the line and wash. I love the colours and brightness.
At this point, I think the two versions are running neck-and-neck. I'm pleased you enjoyed it, Brajasundari - thanks for the comment!
All the three paintings are beautiful in their own way, still if I have to choose only one , I will choose the watercolor one😊.... It's fresh and expressive and have explotion of beautiful colours,I just loved it♥️♥️♥️
Thanks for the vote Srabanti - I think the pure watercolour is pushing ahead in popularity. I'm pleased you enjoyed it!
Hi Peter!!
¡hazlo!
@@peterwoolleyartist y e s....!! 🤗
Thank you Peter, I like all three but I do love pen and wash so that’s probably my favourite. I love your painting style and your amazing colours.
I think your vote pushes the line and wash version into the lead. Thank you for the comment, Susan - I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
Lovely paintings and colors
Thanks Oleksandr - I'm pleased you like them.
@@peterwoolleyartist hey if you ever decide to visit Santa Fe New Mexico I’ll show you around. Some cool hidden places.
@@oleksandrkozyr2434 Thanks Oleksandr, I'll bear that in mind - thank you for the offer - I've never been to New Mexico.
@@peterwoolleyartist Santa Fe and Taos are pretty unique towns. Look them up. Definitely worth a visit.
Encore de très belles aquarelles tirées d un sujet ho combien difficile. Très beau très inspirant avec une technique quasi magique pour moi.
Merci beaucoup.
Merci pour ce gentil commentaire Pierre - je suis ravie que cela vous ait plu !
Great video. Thank you so much for sharing your process.
You're very welcome Bobbie - I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
It is great to see your gardens pushing along into spring! Here in the US, we don't start our growing season until last frost in Mid May. A long way away from here now. I love the line and wash. I am just a fan of the contemporary look and balance of bright colors and depth of contrast, though they are all beautiful. Great video!
Thanks for that Terry - it's very quiet at the allotments right now - I don't think we're that different to you in that respect. Thanks also for the vote - first strike for the line and wash...
All 3 are nice pieces. So those are community gardens? 😀
Not 'community' as such - they are rented out to private users by the local council.
What a patience just to draw the scene. But you made two beautful paintings as well.. Like both styles but still prefer the first one just because it's more "pure" (only watercolour). Great job anyway!
Thanks WeILL - First strike for the pure watercolour...
Oh I do that. Lol
Ha ha ha!.... I knew it... In fact I see it happen quite often when I'm working with students... Thanks for the great comment Doreen!
I love your work!! This was a great video and I have always liked line and wash so I'll go for that one. Can I ask what brushes you used in this painting? I love how they hold the wash and work so effortlessly...although much of that is the person YIELDING the brush! :). Thanks for another great video! Looking forward to more.
The brushes I'm using are made by Rosemary & Co - further details here: www.peterwoolley.co.uk/shop_BRUSHES.html if you're interested. Thanks for the comment, David, and the vote for line and wash (which I think just pushes it ahead by a nose...) - I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
Watercolour.
The painting is spectacular but the commentary is a close second.
Thanks Wendy - I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
first one to like
You win!
