I received a couple of requests wondering what Journey's End would look like if David Tennant had actually regenerated into Matt Smith after the cliffhanger; I've created an alternate version of the title sequence and end credits to match. Enjoy!

I did my best to merge the two shots at the end with Matt Smith in the coral TARDIS; it didn't turn out the best but I felt it was important to keep the longer shot for timing reasons (and of course there's not a lot of available material!). Hope you enjoy!

THAT ENDING THO... Using The Doctors Wife to fully visualise what it woulda been like if 11 stayed in 10s TARDIS makes for a fitting ending. Especially when 9 had different lighting in his having a darker green and 10 having a lighter yellow, to then have 11 have a mix between the two with his iconic outfit is incredible!

It actually would have been kind of cool to have Matt Smith as the new regeneration but then still have David Tennant as the meta crisis. A multi doctor story for the 11th Doctor’s first. It probably wouldn’t have worked though as Matt would have felt overshadowed by David returning so soon after we thought he was gone forever.

I think the cliffhanger would be resolved before the titles because if it wasn't revealed already then the titles would ruin the surprise of the regeneration actually happening

This is so cool! Even though there's no dialogue between 11 and the companions, you can still get a vague sense of how they would react to him. I've always loved to fantasize about these "what ifs" that contain unexpected doctor and companion pairings that we never got to see in the show. Well done!
That literally gave me chills seeing Smith alone in the old TARDIS console room. Well done.
I've often wondered if they could pull something like this off. They kinda did it with the Sixth Doctor, with the final story of the season being his introduction. But I mean sudden unexpected regeneration mid story, totally out of left field. Would be a major gamble.
Imagine the Doctor's last story being the next one's first one, where they end up having to work together to beat the villain.
If written well, it could be a fantastic send-off for the one and immediately sell everyone on the other

You're telling me the shots at the end were done by you? That's impressive. It honestly feels like a clip straight from the show.
Well technically they *are* straight from the show - The Doctor's Wife to be specific. But I cropped out Amy/Rory/Idris from the first shot, and then did my best to combine the 2 shots where you can see the Doctor's face into a single shot (rather than having to cut away to something else and cut back to it again)

@@Yunone It's a bit of a weird situation, when you have the new Doctor introduced at the beginning of the episode rather than the end, and the previous Doctor's only involvement is in the "previously" segment. I feel like it would be weird to not credit Matt Smith in the usual Doctor spot, since he'd have been the incumbent Doctor throughout the entire episode, but it also would've felt strange to credit him twice.
@@Merganman4 fair point. There's also a snippet of Tennant in The Next Doctor that wasn't edited out, but it doesn't really matter.
Here's how it would work
1. The 10th Doctor fully regenerates into the 11th Doctor because the Regeneration energy instead creating the Meta-Crisis 10th Doctor who will help the 11th Doctor during this episode
2. The Daleks are defeated with the 10th and 11th Doctors and companions moving the earth back to its original place.
3. Mickey, Martha, Jack and Sarah return to their homes and say goodbye to the two doctors. Rose, Jackie and the 10th Doctor return to the parallel world and live happily ever after while Donna decides she wants to leave leaving the newly regenerated 11th Doctor heartbroken.
4. Just after she leaves The 11th Doctor goes into Space and floats around for a while before The TARDIS malfunctions and crashes into young Amelia Ponds Garden in the 10th Doctors old raggedy clothes setting up the events for the Eleventh Hour
Real life changes
1. There will be no 2008-2010 Specials
2. Series 5 will probably be a two parter season with one part in late 2009 presumably starting on Christmas Day and one part in mid to late 2010 with the Christmas Special returning in December 2010.

I really wish they'd have introduced Matt in Journey's End instead of breaking the rules of regeneration. It would've shocked everyone and done something the show's never done before.

RTD would have probably changed the storyline of 'The end of time'
Eleven could take Lady Christina as a companion or introduce Clara early
Have Eleven go through name and Day of the doctor , reunite with Wilf in the end of time and then regenerate
12 and Amy sounds like a dream team ,
Angels take manhattan could be a trap set by the silence or the Time Lords to separate 12 from Amy. And the next episode could be Heaven Sent where 12 spends 4.5 billion years to get Amy back (where earlier in the series Amy waits 36 years and Rory 2000)

This would've been the perfect and almost unseen version if the 10th did infact regenerate into the 11th. And the scene from "The Doctor's Wife" would have been ideal for a "Journeys Beginning" end scene. Im sure somewhere the Doctor has that desktop saved somewhere

Interesting, Cool video. I remembered Moffat had stated that he wanted David to stay for Series 5,but David said it wouldn't be a same without RTD.
Honestly I think it would've worked incredibly to introduce him in that episode because while we might not get some great moments from Tennant (like the time lord victorious thing for waters of Mars) and also wouldn't get to see Wilf... Ok I would like to retract my statement it would've been very bad

Not really, I think Donna would still consider the Doctor her friend and still wants to travel with him, regardless if he's changed (the only thing stopping that is the whole DoctorDonna routine)

If Smith was the Doctor in Journey's End, I feel like Donna (or Catherine Tate) would stay longer for another series or two with 11, it be fun to see Donna's reaction to seeing a true regeneration face to face and having to deal with this new change and newly (both apperance and personality) Doctor

One thing I hope they do eventually is have a modern era doctor use the previous doctor's tardis for the first episode until getting their own at the end. I understand filming and set construction schedules would make it hard but actually seeing a new doctor in the tattered remains of their previous body's clothes running around their previous body's tardis would make for such a good juxtaposition when they fully form their own identity and get their own console room by the end

So part of the reason they didn’t keep the 9/10th doctor TARDIS for the first adventure is because the time rotor broke during the regeneration scene

Could you make an edit where there is the twelfth doctor (Peter Capaldi) who regenerates in the thirteenth doctor in the episode of the monks of the tenth season? When Bill shoots the obvious doctor.
Hmmm...not sure if I could, actually, unless I kept it very simple (as in *just* including the transition shot of the eyes from Twice Upon a Time). I got lucky with the available footage of Matt Smith on the coral TARDIS, from both The End of Time and The Doctor's Wife - in this case, there's obviously not any footage of Jodie Whittaker in the room the Doctor is shot in!
So I guess my answer is, I can if you're okay with it being kept really simple. But I won't be able to make it like this video.
@@Merganman4 Think about it. Because in my opinion, with a bit of advanced special effects and with some agreement in the videos, a nice video could come out. You have all the potential to try. Nice video anyway.

As great as Vale Decem is, I wasnt a fan of the specials and womdered what it would have been like if Matt had been found earlier and cast here.
However, it would pose one question: If this was how he regenerated, how would he end up crashing (Literally) into young Amelia's life? Guess they'd have to write something in...

This would of been amazing. Imagine the suspence of a whole year and the only teaser for 11 was 35 mins or so of the new doctor and he was acting out of character.
so we won't know what he'd truly be like .. what a gamble that would be on the showrunners behalf. I reckon it may of worked though.

@@Bobbyandmog Without spoiling anything, it is about the TARDIS, but not in the way you might expect (the old interior plays a fairly small role in the episode).

A maybe moment a alternative timeline or a freak regeneration it would be possible that the med would be temporary if the regeneration process is critically to fail or even there's no more regeneration's as pointed out it was thought by the 11th Doctor himself later? Of course there's one other thing we have forgotten the other Doctor the hand of the 10th Doctor as we see later this Doctor half human in this timeline but who can say the hand could not have regenerate fully into the 11th or perhaps someone totally different it is possible that this would be one alternative Doctor from a different regeneration and this idea would work with a tooth the Doctor lost years ago in a famous city where a gun fight took place and also in the Doctor Who movie 1999 he ended up in a hospital AE where his blood was tested? This has been seen a couple of times in Doctor Who but no seems to recall these events?
This makes me wish RTD wrote for Smith. Even for an episode or two.

Simple answer .. all time and space comes to an end as there is no energy to create the Doctor Donna. Daleks win, creation loses. The end.
Those rules didn't exist yet, so the residual regeneration energy could've still caused a metacrisis of sorts. You need to remember that those rules were hastily cooked up to justify the 10 to 10 regeneration, they never existed before Journey's End aired.

The costume change mid shot, for it to just end there; is really jarring and out of sync with the natural order of things in a show like this. Where we need a whole scene dedicated to the wardrobe change that The Doctor undergoes each and every regeneration.

@@MR._KAT I created the name itself in After Effects using the original title sequence as a guide, and then composited it into the clean title sequence using Premiere Pro.

Firstly, I never said anything about your opinion of Matt.
Secondly, why put Matt in? Because it's a fun look into an alternative universe. There's a reason the video is called "What If?" and not "How it should have been." I would think (and hope) most fan edits are done for the sake of fun rather than any sense of necessity.
Thirdly, why not Peter or Jodie? Because Matt's the one that directly followed David and there's actually footage of him in David's console room. It's not that hard to figure out, bud (though rest assured I've done plenty of edits with both of them).
Genuinely curious why you even clicked on the video in the first place if you were gonna get so offended by its mere existence.
