I don’t know if you noticed, but when you get a combo of 5 and over, a percussion is added to the all battle themes.
So wait its taking after Metal Hellsinger in that you get better music the higher your combo is?
@@ogre589 don’t know what Metal Hellsinger is, but yes. The normal theme for smithy and the chain/percussion theme of smithy are different by the first 5 seconds. Really recommend listening to both, as they’re both spectacular pieces.
@@THE__Legend_27 Metal Hellsinger is a rhythm based fps game. Its a metal heads dream as many big and small singers were brought on to provide vocals for the songs including Randy Blythe of Lamb of God and Serj Tankien of System of a Down. You get the full song after reaching a 16x multiplier and you get that by playing the game better.
I noticed it really late because I was wondering why sometimes the music sounds slightly different, kinda like frontrunning in Mario Kart 8 haha

So Brent, lemme explain about Geno Whirl vs Exor, the sword boss:
Only his eyes and mouth are considered an actual boss. The skull handle at the top is considered a normal enemy, and since Geno Whirl does 9,999 damage to non-Boss enemies if timed right, this is why you can cheese the battle. It's not a glitch, it's just how they coded it in both the original and remake. Hope this helps!

I didn't realize at first, but the Weapon bosses are named after actual weapons now. Which makes more sense now.
Claymore = Claymorton
Bow = Bowyer
Spear = Speardovich
Axe = Axem Rangers
Yeah, Claymortons old name Mack was a reference to the song "Mack the Knife" Yaridovich got his name from a "Yari" a traditional japanese spear. And Exors reference is only visible when you know his japanese name Kariba which combined are a reference to Excalibur. The remake just makes the references more pronounced.

I really love it when they are faithful to the point they turned the Exor bug /oversight into a feature.
Technically speaking, the Exor thing isn't a bug. I've heard it explained two different ways, but it comes out mostly the same either way.
1. Exor's pommel has two programmed immunities. One to damage overall, and the normal boss immunity to Geno Whirl. When the mouth is downed, both immunities are removed simultaneously, meaning that Exor's pommel can be one-shot freely.
2. The immunity to Geno Whirl is granted by a "boss" flag placed manually on enemies. For some reason, Exor's mouth has the boss flag, but its pommel doesn't, so it's technically not a boss. So, any time the pommel can be damaged, it can be one-shot.
Lore time! Did you know that Mario and Co don’t actually damage Smithy?
Instead Smithy gets so furious that he overheats and Literally starts melting down.
I’m so happy that we finally get to see this video, it’s unfortunate that you had to lost some of the footage but I’m still happy to see this episode, and I can’t wait for post game!

I was able to see yours and eevee's playthrough live and it was an amazing experience, I liked the approach each of you had, specially during the castle part (funny moments in the 6 doors puzzles).
And the surprises this game had as well.
You know, after pointing it out, I never noticed that Smithy's theme sounds like a factory! That's super cool and a great point! And it's super fitting too!

The ending brought a tear into my eye when I saw this in the remake.

So, a fun fact about Geno Whirl working on Exor: supposedly, the code was looked at for the boss fight in the original and it seems like its completely intended to work on Exor if his left eye is knocked out.
How true this is, I'm unsure. I just heard about it randomly, so take it with a grain of salt, I guess.
It's just how it was coded
You're forced to fight Exor right after defeating Boomer, so it's two bosses back to back, so it wouldn't surprise me the exploit was done on purpose
Protection Gimmick removes any Buffs and immunities that Exor has, including those that normal Bosses have to be inmune to the Whirl. It does not matter if one eye or both are down. Unintended behavior, since the Protection should only make Exor vulnerable to damage. It was kept likely because it was memorable and to avoid messing up player's muscle memory.
It isn’t intentional, it’s a coding oversight that fucks up the immunities when the eyes are removed, they decide to make exor weak to Geno Whirl in the Remake
7:30 When I played this and saw the cutscene of the Sledge coming out. He IMMEDIATELY started the fight with Sledge. Just laughed at that.

I’m so happy that they kept the instant kill for Exor, though I can’t say I’m not disappointed that we didn’t get some extra cutscene where the skull gets cut off or something. Seeing something like that would be so cool!
Also, in case you don’t know remakes of games aren’t usually made by the original team. So what usually happens is they just use the original coding with no questions asked. The biggest example of this is the dying soldier in the back alley of castle town in Ocarina of Time. Nobody knows much about the lore behind him, not even the remake team, yet they kept him in anyway.
With that, I can only assume that that move we supposed to instant kill Exor in the original and give some kind of instant kill animation but the program wasn’t powerful enough to do that yet, and now that it is, they just kept it in with no changes because they unfortunately don’t know much about the original dev team’s plan for the game
Exor in the original isn't supposed to be weak to Geno Whirl. His Protection gimmick wrongly removes Exor's Boss Immunity and makes him weak to EVERYTHING since it removes any buff the Handle hass outside of it's base stats. Exor should have his Boss status and thus, be inmune, but an oversight also makes his Protection remove it. Unintended behavior but remarkable enough to be remembered. The remake changes it to make the Handle weak to the Whirl itself.
@@MakoShiruba Ah, I see. When I tried looking it up not too long ago I couldn’t find much information on why it was kept in, and just assumed it was another case of the remake devs using the same code with updated graphics and sounds. Thank you for finally giving me an answer!
I think most players who try the instakill in the remake would be more amused if they kept it than if they didn't

3:42 . No, you could not block any magic attacks in the original, partially the reason why people complained that the remake is baby mode, you can block many magic attacks in the remake.
Yeah blocking magic attacks, timed hits doing aoe, and swapping party members in mid battle all made the game easy. Not that the OG was that difficult to begin with
I swear though i never struggled with the timed hits on attacks in the original but I never got consistent in this version

Some time later Miyamoto got a higher position and ever since, Mario stopped doing the Peace sign

Also ill never not find it hella weird how the Weapon World minibosses very much AREN'T weapon themed (a clock, a jester with a sword and shield, a literal mage thing, and a robot snake. At least Boomer was a samurai so he sorta fits)
I love whenever devs keep small glitches like this into a remake. It always sorta feels like "Daw, let's keep this one in for the fans!" Doesn't happen often, but I enjoy it every time (only other example I can think of right now is the Peninsula of Power glitch from Final Fantasy 1).
Everytime I see the Storm attack now I point out it's Rashid, so I listened to his SF5 theme and it's fantastic, thank you Brent
If you do the boss rematches, you should buy the get op post game weapons that are available once you beat the game.
Love how faithful this remake was.
Them keeping the Exor instant kill can now cause a new generation of people who beat him without knowing then see a video like this and the inevitable 'wait that works?!' happens and hopefully inspires them to play through again to see it themselves....or load a old save.
He might be one of the hardest boss I fight in The original

This was my first experience with Super Mario RPG and now I really understand why it's so beloved. Now I'm kind of upset I never played it before.
Beat this game a few days ago. Fantastic game overall, feel like it is a little over hyped, but yeah no major complaints. I think the difficulty is well balanced. The music is amazing and game looks beautiful. Love the characters and overall it’s just a fun time. Happy to see this game got a remake. Next big Mario is TTYD remake, wonder how over hype that game is gonna be thanks to the internet.
I grew attached to Geno and Mallow by the end of my playthrough of Super Mario RPG as well, so I too hope this isn't the last time we see them.

So for Cloaker and Domino, it just matters on difficulty. Domino is tougher on round 2 than Cloaker. If you have lazy shell then it doesnt matter who you choose. But Domino has much more deadly magic when he is the one still alive

Request/challange for the King Of Skill: Fight Smithy with no equipment. It's a really fun challenge that REALLY pushes the new switching and triple move mechanics. I did it first try (level 27, optimal levelup bonuses), so it's def possible

king of skill here is major item that you missed in Super Mario RPG the frying pan. The frying pan is peach's strongest weapon in the game which is more stronger than the super slap weapon, to obtain it you must ask that toad person in the movile shop where the frying pan is called metal plate which becomes availably after obtaining the sixth star and defeating the axem rangers.
