    Notes to self:
    - building identity-based habits (character)
    - the goal is not to build top grades, but to build a character; *to build a habit of studying everyday*
    - what's important is not chasing the outcome (A+ grade), but to build a better a new identity
    - the goal is not to get straight A's, but to become a chracter who studies a little btit everyday; don't worry about the outcomes, focus on the transformation.
    - focus on what you can control: make the right decisions everyday, and overtime, your actions will compound into habits and transform your identity.
    - Feynman tehchnique to figure out the character you wanna become; helps u transform into the character u wanna become
    - you must ask yourself broader questions: why get straight grades? why get a good resume? wy become a doctor? if all ur answers lead to u just chasing outcomes ('being rich, for e.g.), they are EXTRINSIC FACTORS. you need to look into INTRINSIC FACTORS more. r u curious about how the body works, do u enjoy learning medical related things? those are the intrinsic factors.

The fact that we're made from none living things, that somehow, miraculously bring about consciousness is mind blowing, and it raises millions of questions in my head. Sometimes I would find myself in a crowd of people and start thinking," Wait, my heart is beating, and if anything goes wrong, it can just stop, that's the end of me"...

    •Key Concepts
    1. Identity-Based Habits
    - Focus on becoming a person who performs the habit, not just achieving a
    specific outcome.
    2. Motivation Spectrum
    - Extrinsic: Driven by rewards/punishments (e.g., good grades).
    - Intrinsic: Driven by joy or love for the habit itself.
    3. Transformation over Outcome
    - Transformation of identity is key (e.g., becoming a student who studies daily).
    4. Feynman Technique
    - Ask "Why?" repeatedly to uncover deeper motivations and shape habits around
    your core values.
    •Practical Steps
    1. Identify the Character
    - Determine the kind of person who achieves your desired outcomes.
    - Example: Instead of aiming for straight A's, aim to become a diligent student.
    2. Shift Focus
    - Move from outcome-based goals to identity-based habits.
    - Example: Study daily as part of your identity, not just for grades.
    3. Intrinsic Motivation
    - Cultivate a genuine interest in the habit.
    - Example: Find aspects of studying you enjoy or align it with your values.
    4. Exercise: The Feynman Technique
    - Write down why you want to build a habit.
    - Dig deeper into each answer to understand your true motivation.
    •Implementation Tips
    1. Daily Actions
    - Make small, consistent decisions that reinforce your desired identity.
    - Example: Attend classes, put away distractions, exercise for mental clarity.
    2. Positive Self-Talk
    - Avoid negative self-narratives that hinder habit formation.
    - Example: Replace "I'm bad at math" with "I am improving in math."
    3. Iterate and Reflect
    - Regularly review and adjust your habits to ensure they align with your identity.

    -So I can become a therapist(why)
-Because I am a lot more open to myself if I can actually talk to myself, and I feel like I want to use that to help other people like me so that they dont figure this out too late. (Is it too late for you?)
    -Yes(Why?)
-Because I feel like I'm too old to retake any test to prove to myself that I'm actually smart and that I dont have much I can give to the world(Dident you want to be a therapist? Are you going to quit when you did not try?)
-What can I do? (Well for starters, you're only 23, people have gone to college in their 50s, you have time. You dont have to worry about a house, so slowly work on your mind and health, then start homeschooling yourself on these matters. You have the internet, there is nothing you can't do if you spend 30 min a day reading and writing at the least.
-Ok, ill try(no, you will, you have what it takes, try buffing yourself with a roll, Do you like dice? Roll a d20+ your age, that number is the amount you will do for your goals, then add a d20 once a month.)

The first step is to be critical of yourself, find your own shortcomings, and fix what you deem to be wrong. Otherwise you'll hold yourself to an impossible standard.
It's sorta like "poor dad rich dad." he isn't rich because he followed his financial advice, he's rich because he wrote a book.

When I was a kid I loved math, it made me feel those trickling in my brain and I enjoyed it. As an adult I was in maternity leaving, so I forgot those feelings. Then I needed to find out what should I do for a living after maternity leaving. I tried several things, and I stopped on programming because developing engineering remind me about tickling in my brain, and after learning a year I work as a backend developer nowadays...
    I totally agree,it's all about joy❤

    This is important
Act like you what to do it anyway even if you don't
You are most likely to do it
    3:07
So you become this person as a result of these small thing to a big transformation
Makes you a good student and
Sense of achievement makes you love it anyway
You find a reason to love it
    Enjoy habit,
    Habit becomes fun
YOU CAN RUIN UR PROGRESS WITH A NEGATIVE MINDSET/AFFIRMATIONS or make you not start in the diet place
    5:47
How to figure out if you are extrinsicly or intrincicly
Then you can find out how to make it intrinsic or in other words how to enjoy it!

Hello! It took me 1 hour to make this chain, but i'm not sure if it's correctly done, so i would like some feedback if possible.
-Why do I want to build the study habit?
Because I want to make the most of the day, studying without excuses and thus staying consistent
    -Why do you want consistency?
To improve my grades, stop falling behind in class, and remove a roadblock that prevents me from becoming an elite student. At the same time I get more time to spend on myself, my other responsibilities and hobbies.
-Why do you want to become an elite student?
To have a better opportunity to take an engineering scholarship that allows me to emigrate to Germany, where I will be able to practice that profession
-Why do you want to take that scholarship?
Because it will give me the greatest opportunity to be free from this prison (Latin America) and thus be able to obtain financial freedom for myself and my family.
-Why do you want to be an engineer?
To help improve this world as much as possible by implementing renewable energy, creating a better future for myself, my family, friends and everyone who comes after us.
All this without neglecting myself, I also want to use these habits to become the best version of myself.
(I'm not sure what comes after this, but i'll try to focus more in the process of becoming an engineer haha. Have a good night.)

Yes, only concentrating on obtaining the desired result and only that without ever regularly asking how to be able to achieve it concretely is a very bad approach when it comes to our desire to succeed in our projects. The most important thing is the new personality that one must forge in order to experience success in life. Building good habits takes time !! Sincearly 😀😃😄❤❤❤

I am indeed talking about myself
So far i am interested in coding so i can work from home, and interested in Cyber Security to protect my friends and family, but i feel like these aren't enough motivations to tackle the mountains of maths and other headaches ill face, thank you for reading.

  • @user-vi2mj5uy7r
    @user-vi2mj5uy7r Před 3 měsíci

    Additionally,
It doesn't have to be a "successful character" you become just yet
You can start of as building yourself to be just a character eg. Study for 10 mins everyday
You're not the ideal yet, but you are going to be with the !!Habits you made to stay consistent
You don't have to build to a character knowing everything to be one. Eg. Exactly how to get a million subs, just know that consistency is your main factor x
It all starts with following your system to become that character and make the right, small decisions
Then develop your system along the way
Make sure you can find sufficient things you love about the thing you want to do if it's something like medicine so don't force yourself to like a certain career path

  • @Marcusbreum
    @Marcusbreum Před rokem

We need to stop focusing on the outcome and instead make our goal becoming the type of person that achieves the outcome. This way we can build up an identity around these golden habits and start to enjoy them.
Step 1: Is to choose a character to become - not to focus on the outcome itself
Why is this relevant? Because focusing on what you can control (the identity you build up) is better for long lasting habits, since the outcome is often long term and our brains aren't wired to continue doing something consistently without having a constant positive feedback loop. Henceforth, just focusing on your identity instead of the outcome helps - it basically helps you avoid the craving of instant reward.
