  • It's been seven years in the making, but now it's time to check out Matt The Guitar Guy's current guitar collection as of 2022!
The guitar collection itself ranges from crazy inexpensive, to crazy good deals, to guitars I would consider heirlooms that can't be replaced!
Things have certainly changed since the last time I did one of these "rig rundowns", and even with all of these guitars there's still a ton more to show about my live guitar rig! I'll have a video soon showing how much my live setup has evolved over the last few years of doing music directing in a praise & worship environment!
Intro & Epiphone Les Paul SL 0:00

Just discovered this channel when I saw your Starcaster demo - great playing on that by the way. Just bought one of those and had a great time playing along with the backing track you made. And that reaction from your Grandma. So sweet. Anyway, as a P&W musician for decades, I like the vibe of your channel. Would like to see some of your church's P&W - not sure if your church posts those...

Sad to see your Squier 51 is no longer among your collection! I get that you already have two "bang for the buck" beaters still in the form of the Epiphone and the SX, though.

    Hi Matt, Great video!
I had a question for you about your SX Liquid. I just purchased one of the British Racing Green ones as a mod platform for a bunch of high quality parts I have that aren’t currently being used. I saw a few comments online about the action being real high the further up the fretboard you go because of the TOM bridge and tailpiece with the bolt on neck and it not being angled. Have you had any issues with that? I am already planning on shimming the neck to alleviate this, IF it is actually an issue.
Have you had any issues with the TOM bridge and stop tail piece? Do you think those need upgrading?
I too am planning a complete re-wiring and new pickup install. I’m going to install 3 P90s that were pulled from a Rivolta Combinata XVIII, thick, twangy and spanky in the bridge, clear and articulate in the neck. I got some open faced chrome P90 covers which should help make the guitar look a little more Gretschy. Also going to use a 10-way Freeway switch I have and a circuit just like Reverend guitars. But that means I need 3 knobs, so I will need to use the output jack hole in the pickguard for the bass cut knob and will be moving the output jack to the side of the body, which means drilling into the body, but I have a pretty good plan for ensuring that will be successful.
I really like your racing stripe decal and might do something similar, perhaps white like the pickguard or most likely sparkle silver, as I am going for sort of a Gretsch-like vibe, remember copying is the highest form of flattery, right?! :D

So I've had two of these Liquids over the years, and one reason I absolutely love these models is because both of them have absurdly well done fretwork -- I've managed to pull the action down on these to roughly 1mm at the 12th fret, low E string with no fretting out or buzz.
I have not experienced any issues with the angle of the neck relative to the TOM affecting string action on either of the two I have had. Luckily, as you said, if you do experience this a shim would go a long way toward correcting it -- but in my experience, I haven't encountered this.
These are just an absolute blast -- the price is amazing and the mod possibilities are endless (especially now that you can get HSS model Liquids...I look at them way too often!)

@@MattTheGuitarGuyThanks for the reply. I appreciate the information you shared. I can certainly understand your last sentiment, I have already been looking at the HH version just so I could get a copy of the pickguard made and then put it all back together and sell it. I'd love to have a swappable loaded pickguard for when I want to change things up. Maybe some filtertrons or something a little out of the ordinary, and yes HSS would also be very helpful and cool.

I don't! I sold it to raise some funds for the PRS CE24 in the video!
