  • In today's video, I'm going to cover the 5 Tips you need to improve your aim in Destiny 2. With all the changes Bungie has made to ability and super regeneration the ability to land your shots is more critical than ever. I'll cover tips the don't require an aim trainer and focus more on techniques you can practice in-game.

Thanks for the "in game" practice methods. Improvement tips that only help people with access to aim trainers are not as helpful as things you can actually practice while you play

Something to mention about sensitivity, there's a lot to be said about the impact of pixel skipping (less accurate input) when you play on a lower dpi (mouse sens setting). It's not the biggest problem but it's a very avoidable variable that you can rule out by changing the ratio of in game sens to dpi. An example is how I used to play on 8 in game sens and 400 dpi, and by simply changing at a factor of four to 2 in game and 1600 dpi it stays the same and there is 0 pixel skipping. (This can be annoying in other games as they have a lower in game sens and you often have to go into the looow decimals or fully change your dpi individually for games that don't let you but its still worth it IMO)

Do you mean that it could be better to have more dpi on the mouse and lower the sensitivity in the game?

Very enlightening video. I've been struggling with aim a lot lately. I play on 800 dpi and 4 sens with 0.9 ads. After watching this and listening to all your advice, I'm considering dropping my dpi and upping the in game sens. Alot of the things you mentioned are all things I've caught myself doing at one point or another. I'm looking forward to working on my game!

Bro this is a masterpiece guide. What I’ve learned here.
    1. I concentrate way to much on my reticle and cannot track enemies. I will trust that I will be centered and focus on the player model going forward rather then my reticle.
    2. I need more practice lol

There's also a measurable decrease in mouse input latency by running higher dpi on your mouse, in other words keep your edpi the same by doubling your dpi and halving your sense. I recently went from 700 dpi and 6 sensitivity to 1400 dpi on 3 sensitivity, actually feels much more consistent (maybe responsive is the right word) now.

Great video. I’m at 1000 dpi and I think my in game is 10 & 1.0, respectively. I have around a 2.54 efficiency this season, my highest yet. My problem when I tried to lower the dpi was feeling slow and cramped when moving. I will have to try tweaking some settings because your video makes the balance between movement and gunplay look pretty smooth.

I recently traded in my PS5 and large TV for a top end gaming PC and monitor. The first two weeks using a mouse and keyboard took some adjustment, but now it’s a breeze.
I’ve been absolutely shocked at how easy it is to consistently hit headshots on PC. My headshot accuracy in Trials with snipers went from 71% on console to 88% on PC and from 62% to 77% with hand cannons!
I’ve really liked how little recoil there is on PC and you can accurately shoot weapons like sub machine guns.
Great video btw and I used your tips to configure my PC settings. All in all though, PC feels like easy/cheat mode compared to console and I’m loving it 🙂

i found that the battler pulse rifle works quite well for me. i run gutshot straight and perpetual motion on the crafted variant because i tend to fight from cover and at middle ranges. the scope helps with shot placement, and i can still hipfire if necessary. some players get down on me for gutshot because it reduces target acquisition. but the extra bodyshot damage does help if i cant land headshots. perpetual motion means extra stability and handling while im moving. and since i never sit still, this benefits me greatly. i also considered a non-meta build. if you go in with a meta build, everyone is gonna be running that too. so look at non-meta options. itll throw off their game because theyre looking at you going "wtf? how does that work?" but you have a custom designed build that suits your needs. i pair this with a hung jury (explosive rounds, subsistence) or a seventh seraph carbine (hipfire grip, moving target). i feel like this allows me to cover most firefights. the hung jury for longrange fights. seventh seraph carbine for close range. and battler for midrange fights. i personally feel like this is a well rounded build for me. i can engage at multiple distances. all i need to do is get peekshooting down.

One thing that helped me keep these things in mind was completing the Jade Rabbit catalyst. I had to take fights, but couldn’t have the advantage in most duels, so the only way to win was to keep most of these principles in mind. I still found myself getting frustrated because I was using an weapon that wasn’t the most competitive, but it sure teaches you some lessons about situational awareness, shooting from cover, and reticle placement. Having said that, it was still frustrating when there was a team of good aggressive players. But I guess that’s where the being comfortable comes into play. But doing something that feels more like work than fun will not appeal to most players.

@@kegium most definitely. My K/D improved dramatically, even while using Jade Rabbit. When I was able to put it down and use a loadout I was more familiar and comfortable with it improved even more. Mostly because it taught me what fights I could take and win and how to be aggressive when pushed by players who are in better position or just plain better than me.

My edpi is really high compared to what most people recommend(I use 1000 dpi and 9 in game sense, so 9000 edpi), but I run 85 fov which helps compensate for that. This is mainly because I started learning mnk on Stadia, where fov is locked at 85 in Destiny, so it's what I got comfortable with and I just haven't bothered to change it since I swapped to steam.

Man that last tip about staying calm when shit hits the fan is so true , I find my self just Spazzing out whenever I get right up front to a person, I’ve gotten better at it but that’s still like my number one thing that’s gets me dead is not just staying calm and taking my shots

    • @matthewrogers2866
      @matthewrogers2866 Před 2 lety

This is going to sound like a lie, but if you want to hack your conditioning you could try playing under a weighted blanket.
The blanket basically tricks your body into releasing the same chemicals it would if you were having a long hug with another person. You feel calmer and less anxious as a result.
I found it let me condition myself not to stress and spasm the controls when someone is playing inside my personal space, and now I don't use it anymore but still can just react instead of spiking my stress levels.
There are other ways to do this, but I don't know any that don't also drop your reaction speed too.

fun fact: handcannons and slug shotties are not the only weapons in the game, experiment, maybe you are better with an autorifle, or cerberus+1, or smgs and pulse rifles.
first find the weapon that you find fun to use, and use that even if its not the most effective tactic possible like the shotgun hc meta.
i usually run cerberus with a lightweight smg to close the gap and just block the enemies movement somewhat since they tend to panic when your bullet spread isnt specific.

I play so much better when I’m relaxed but the second I get into a 1v1 where my team is depending on me for a win, I choke so often because the nerves get to me and I miss a shotgun blast that I should’ve hit or something like that

Thanks for the video. I agree with the some of the points. But there are couple of things which are not mentioned.
    1. Better weapons - some hardest activities in the game and grinding pve activities give god roll weapons, like the shotgun in the video. The best shotgun I have takes 2 shots n many times opponents will get away with 10% health.
    2. Connection - if your internet connection or connection to Bungie network is wonky then shots will not register, get hit behind covers n other annoying things will occur during the game. What I have noticed is that players from Western and European countries benefits seamless connection to Bungie networks. Players from 3rd world countries have to live with it.
Every time I login to D2 I get “Could not connect to Destiny servers”
To put it in a sentence, either 1 has to be extremely good at PvP to ignore best gear n mods or grind your ass out to get her best gear to enjoy.
D2 PvP is a complex game with builds n shit unlike Call of Duty or Battlefield games.

Can you help clear up the "screen centering" concept for me? This is literally the first time I've ever heard or seen that. So, are you saying that my eyes should always follow the reticle when I'm moving around the map, and simulatenously the reticle should move to where I want to "look", and thus they are always in sync (eyes & reticle)? Then when a target comes into view, need to shift focus to the target. As opposed to moving eyes around but leaving the "reticle" lazy or unfocused, in a sense?

    • @Apathettic
      @Apathettic  Před 2 lety +1

I’m at my wits end! & seriously trying to get off this controller. ANY help is appreciated.

I would say PvE is a great place for that. There will be a simulation of enemies damaging you but nothing on the line to keep you from practicing!

Dual loader killing wind. Not optimal but gets the job done.

SHOULD I ALWYS PUT THE RED DOT ON THEIR HEAD REGARDLESS OF DISTANCE?? I swear I put tht seed dot on their head an sometimes it doesn’t register as headshots it’s like I’m shooting their body

I am a bit above their heads and i just can not miss a headshot XD,and just like a year ago i could barely get like 25 kills, now my average games end with me having about 40 kills or more,my record is 48 currently,it would have been 51 but i missed a thundercrash bc i thought i was running hammers still XD

You made a great point about keeping calm during engagements and not tensing up. Pattycakes has a great video ALL about this one topic, focusing on achieving your ideal “flow state” when playing pvp. Will edit this comment with a link to his video if/when I find it.

I'm back again watching this video wondering what the heck I'm doing wrong. I really wish there were more aim improvements for console players too. Maybe I'm just getting too old and can't keep up anymore.

I’m new to PC and my pve sens feels fine 800 dpi 8 sens/ but in crucible idk if it’s because I’m fairly new to pvp on Pc and D2 is a much harder game to track your target but it’s hella frustrating getting shit on when I played fine on controller. Yet if I use controller on Pc I’ll get wrecked lol. Going from a 1.5kd to a 0.8 kd is definitely humbling

I'm trying to find my sensitivity on console. I'm normally between 4 & 6, also got that God roll Pali 2 weeks ago. It's so damn good, the stability is insane!
I'm always looking to improve on my aim, so thanks again apa 😎👍

Let me stop on on your first tip already. Head-height crosshair placement is great for games like csgo, valorant, cod etc. But for a game like Destiny 2 that has so much verticality it is an afterthought.

I use 600 dpi and 20 in-game sens, is this too high? I've been using it competitively in Minecraft for a couple years now so I'm quite used to it though
