What size fluoro leader for most of your setups? I’m looking to surf fish and I got a rod with 25lb, 40lb, and 65lb braid.

@brandonrussell9422 it depends on the reel size. for the 6500 series, I use either 50 or 60 flouro. I will carry 40 but usually the 50/60 will do the trick. for the 4000 series reels, I will use 20 pound or 30 pound. it also depends on the structure you are fishing or if you can easily get cut off. for your 25lb, I would use 20-30 pound leader. for your 40lb outfit, i would use 30, 40, or 50lb. for the 65, I would use 50,60, or 80.

If you are a skilled fisherman 20lb is way more than you need for most big fish do not waste more money than is needed ,
E.G look at his other reel he broke it probably using way too heavy a line and stripped the gears inside the reel .

Can the handle be swapped to the right side ?

@BCBtrucks64 Yes, you can swap the handle to the other side. You would remove the cap and take off the handle. Then you need to put the cap and handle on the other side.

@Jessica37323 - I am right handed as well, you should use your left hand to reel a spinning reel as it is more natural. You will use your right hand to reel a conventional or bait casting reel. give it a try!

@Dave30867 we fish natural bottom and the fish are strong. they will cut you off in two seconds if you do not horse them up the first 20 feet. also, the 50 pound gives us good abrasion resistance. check out the power of these fish here: czcams.com/video/5-H7ilwX3qM/video.html
