    I had the "protruding pin" thing, too. I was assuming the mechanism was gummed-up somehow, with pocket lint. Thanks for saving me from pointlessly opening the case.

      Hi, here's a video we made on how to change the battery and case on a Ford Custom key. We don't recommend you reuse the case as the are originally glued together. Hope it helps.

    I got two of the replacement key fobs put the first together easily then on the second got ahead of myself and put the back cover on without putting the battery in, the writing inside where the key sits it says to press down, but I'm not sure where it means.

      @TheCarKeyMan  Před 4 lety

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  Před 3 lety

      Hi, well the original keys do not have scres as far as I know, they are all glued, or plastic welded together. It's only the replacement cases that have the screws

  • @briand6036
    @briand6036 Před 4 lety

    Do you have a website to order replacement key fob cases? My 64 plate ford transits key fob has started being funny sometimes it works and unlocks sometimes it doesent work so you have to use the key being in a trade the central locking fob is a time saver so I’m figuring I need a replacement case as it’s the type where the battery is soldered in :/.

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  Před 4 lety

      Hi Brian, we used to sell the cases and fix the keys. However, we've found that even when the battery is changed and the case changed, some of the time the buttons still don't work, and we haven't found out why. My advice is to splash out on a new key from a good Auto Locksmith

    Can anyone please explain why the keyfob / key I have which is almost identical to the one on this video does not fit the one and only door lock on my vehicle? I assume the key is in case the battery in the fob dies, but I can't open the door with it and to me it defies all logic!

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  Před rokem

      Hi Dale, if your key blade doesn't fit the lock, it can only be one of three things
      1. Your key blade is a different shape to your lock
      2. Your key blade is worn
      3. Your door lock is faulty
      I think you need a local expert to help you

      Hi, it could be the mechanism inside, which means you need a new case. You can do this yourself buy you'll need to file the blade down to make it fit in the new case I expect. Have you seen our video on this?
