Such excellent and thorough testing to get real data. Imaging was a *perfect* visual! Well done.
The deflector seems like a good addition to the solo stove arsenal!
About time to swing by over lunch and try it out, no?
@@TheBarbecueLab yessir!!
@@TheBarbecueLablast question. Great video btw. But what stove do you use the most. ??
Love the thoroughness of the test. Big thanks to you guys for bringing metrics and context to some of Solo's accessories.
Thanks for the comment Tyler! It was fun coming up with ways to show data.
Great review! Thanks a bunch!
This was a fantastic review! Thanks for putting this together.
Great videos! We watched your comparison of the various sizes and bought the Yukon. It's perfect for our family. Also, after watching this video we stumbled on a heat shield from Amazon for only $75. It required assembly and the legs don't detach but it works! The heat deflector was a game-changer! Thanks
Thanks for watching, and enjoy that new firepit! I think we’re going to light ours up tonight.
Awesome video! I have the Shield currently since I am a bit concerned about rogue embers popping out of the pit. Would you say the Heat Deflector provides good protection while the fire is burning? I would still most likely use the Shield when the fire is dying out, but wondering specifically about while we're building and enjoying the active flame. Always great content - thanks!
I bought a Bonfire 2.0 today based on your reviews and used your discount code. Great videos on the smokeless fire pits.
Thanks for watching, and I’m glad the codes worked for you! Enjoy your new fire pit!
Have you considered doing a comparison test between building a DIY heat deflector from parts off of Amazon and comparing it to real deal? Having a flir camera would be a great comparison to OEM vs DIY
Great Video!! More people need to see this. I've been debating on a purchase of just this pit. I wonder how do the temps compare to a normal firepit? Also, like the idea of a smokeless fire, but I still want there to be the scent of campfire in the air, since the aroma of burning wood is one of the highlights of a wood fire. Does it still have that wood burning aroma?
What was ambient temperature during the test? That’s an important factor as well.
Are the chairs comfortable?
Can you cook a 10 pound pot of let's say soup on the heat deflector without it buckling? That solo hub and griddle is mighty expensive
Great video, I have the deflector and do notice a difference. Do you have any recommendations on how to clean the outside of the solo stove to get it back to looking shinny again removing the patina. Thanks
I'm not sure how to completely remove the patina on a Solo Stove, but I use the liquid Bar Keepers friend and a microfiber cloth to clean mine.
how about a link for the chairs you are sitting in. they look good
They’re from Breeo. Perfect height for sitting around the fire! thebarbecuelab.com/recommends/breeo-x-series-chair
Thank you for a great review. Can you tell me where you bought the cup holders for your chairs?
The chairs are these from Breeo: thebarbecuelab.com/recommends/breeo-x-series-chair/ - and they have their cup holders you can find on the site from that link.
Thank you@@TheBarbecueLab
need a deflector/grill
Will you do a video testing using pellets in the Yukon?
I'll see what we can do on that for a future video. I think I have a pellet adapter for the Bonfire, but not sure about the Yukon.
Wow, David - someone's punching above their weight! 🙂
???????????
Check my diy heat deflector . It may not be perfect on heat deflectecting..however is cheap and also the holes let you see fire when standing. Cheers
What kind of patio chairs are those?

What was the outside temperature before lighting pit
That’s a good question. If memory serves correctly I think the outside temp at that time was roughly between 55-60.
Okay, I looked it up, and it was 53 degrees with a wind speed of 8-12mph during that temperature testing.
if you got those temp gradients at those wind speeds, thats like really good!@@TheBarbecueLab
Could you use the solo stove under metal gazebos ??
I think it all depends on how high the gazebo is and how it’s constructed. If there’s any wood in it, I wouldn’t. The air coming off that thing is incredibly hot.
@@TheBarbecueLab standard metal gazebos. Got the port in the middle I would say prob 10 feet high by at its peak
We bought the deflector for our Yukon because we have a wooden overhang, covered patio attached to the house. The deflector reduces the overhead heat to a safe level and noticeably increases the lateral heat for folks seated around it. The deflector is worth it.
Let me call my bank and see if I can get a loan for this set up. I'm curious how many YT reviewers actually paid for the products they are reviewing lol.
Almost none of them do, but you can’t blame them, they get a free $1,000 setup and all they have to do is make a 10 minutes CZcams video about it.
