Norma Zimmer was the “Champagne Lady” on The Lawrence Welk Show from 1959 to 1982

  • Norma Zimmer first met Lawrence Welk in the Fall of 1956 when she was working as a studio singer and recorded a few vocal tracks on his Thanksgiving album. In 1959 Welk hired Norma as his full-time "Champagne Lady.” Besides The Lawrence Welk Show Zimmer was also known for her singing parts in the Bing Crosby movie "Mr. Music" and in Disney's "Alice in Wonderland."

    To be a bit more precise, Norma was not designated as the new "Champagne Lady" until the beginning of 1961. Millions of fans were still hoping that Alice Lon would return to the show throughout 1960.
