Welcome to CRM Life Episode 93, where birthday gifts wind up being fake watches! In fact, replicas seem to be picking up again. We’ve come across 3 in less than two weeks: a fake Richard Mille, a fake Daytona, and [also] during this episode, one of the best fake Datejusts that we’ve have come across. We actually take you to our watchmaker who compares the movement of this fake Rolex to a real movement side by side. You will be shocked!
Some of the comment we get are really funny. We’ve even started getting some claiming that our tokenized luxury marketplace is a scam because ALL NFTs are scams. Lord have mercy on this generation!

@@Crmjewelers Yeah but he DID know- actual people that do not know they have a fake are a bit more sceptical of being told it's a fake, plus he obviously outright lied about how he acquired the watch, according to him it was a gift from...himself? You don't have to be a detective to know absolutely everything about both this guy's body language and verbal answers are all wrong, in other words, he is more fake than the watch.
As for people that may NOT know they have a fake watch, it's illegal contraband and if they go to sell it to a jeweler or any other unsuspecting person they deserve at the very least to have their property confiscated. One day, one of these guys may pass it off to you or a loved one, these things should be taken off the street whenever possible. Imagine somebody was making fake versions of your cuban chains with your logo on them and selling them around town to people and possibly other jewelers. Would you like them to say, "Hey, this chain is not genuine, go try to sell it to the next guy?"

it's crazy how many jewelers don't like the two-tone watches where to me it adds contrast and makes the watch pop. a submariner two-tone black bezel or blue is the panicle of showy but nice watch.

Because the guy is a fellow CZcamsr and knew all along the watch was fake. He was even allowed to throw in a plug for his CZcams channel "qtclaps". The real question is whether CRM knew and staged this whole thing for "content"- like the fake drama on "reality" TV shows.

Fun show, people are aware of replica watches, but even experienced dealers must be realizing there are levels of replicas they will never be able to detect. This could be one of the reasons for Rolex's new pre-owned certification program.
I don't think that's why Rolex launched their CPO program, but we're definitely planning to release a video soon about a super clone Sub.
You can tell with a loupe, and even with the new 32XX Asian movement that masquerades as a free sprung balance wheel, it's pretty easy to tell from gen. The real danger is Frankenwatches, where the movement and dial might be real but the case and bracelet, or parts that aren't generaslly examined as closely, could be superclone parts.
@@mytuberforyou This guy knows his shit. Anyone with a GOOD amount of experience that knows where to look can differentiate between a super clone and a real deal. The free sprung balance wheel is where I immediately go to check. But you can get fucked when the person is dedicated enough to get the authentic dial and movement. At that point its a matter of being able to tell apart print quality, and other ridiculously small details like the quality of the clasp. That is still possible if you have a real one on hand but its ridiculous to expect to have the real deal to compare with.
The guy knew he was trying to sell a fake Rolex. Why, he thought he could walk into a business of watch, experts, and sell them an obviously fake Rolex. I have no clue.

On the 3235 movement the first thing that will show is a fake is the lack of screws on the balance. Hack the movement and compare them.

Tbf it’s soo easy to forget how limited the average person’s knowledge on these luxury watches is. when I was a kid I got a fake Rolex from China or Indonesia and I cant remember anything looking back, except it was stainless - now it’s 15 odd years later and I reckon honestly, before i got into this kind of content you could’ve sold me that watch (although I probably would’ve brought it somewhere like crm first, and hopefully be treated just as professionally! 🙏)

wouldn't an easy way to test the clones is water resistance? The clones will often have minimal water resistance compared to real?
I can't help but think one day the fakers will make a 1 to 1 copy and we won't be able to tell the difference. Yes it's not right but you can't deny the skill involved to make the copies this good.
One question i have is are rolexes like a GMT II ok to go swimming in or taking a shower? My dad has the all gold submariner and he says he doesn't take showers with it on and doesn't go into the ocean with it. I know the submariner is definitely a piece that'll be fine in water, obviously but does it wear and tear the watch?
It depends how long ago it was serviced and pressure tested. If you bought it new and it’s only a few years old, you’re fine. If you bought it used and haven’t had it serviced yourself, you should have it pressure tested.
