I think he's just way too big for the weight class and constantly gets matched up with smaller guys. Throw him against a decent leg kicker and he's done.
He has such a unique and interesting build for the division. Outrageously tall, outrageously skinny.
The legends are overblown. We saw clips of Max training with Samart in Thailand.

I thought you would have the same thoughts you had with volkovnaski vs Ortega, which was that the loser is the better "fighter" skill wise while the winners(Alex and max) are just tougher and want it more.
Ortega wasn’t better skill wise than volk. Ortega is the most overrated fighter in that division. Also max is the most skilled fighter in that division so that’s a false conclusion
@@eldio2124 idk if you're just a fan of them and emotionally commenting or if you're trolling but Ortega has much more skills in his arsenal than Alex, Alex just had a pace and conditioning that was unmatchable but very basic skills(which wins fights), and same could be said for max, Yair was flat out scary when it came to how many weapons he had but max outpaced him.
Max and Alex are truly the best fighters in that weight class but it's purely off the basics and their pace/conditioning.
@@fredlodexpo2011 if your talkin striking wise volk is more technical. he foot placement was better, his counters were better, fients were better. brian really only gave volk trouble on the ground. volks actually one of the most technical guys on the roster. ortega was more wild.

He had more leg kicks, Maz had more bodyshots and the total head count was very close. Max didn't look his usual self. Yair definitely disrupted his rhythm.
