- Catch and Cook SURFPERCH BBQ on the BEACH:
I was trying to wait for a good weather day to do a catch and cook out on the beach. Well, that didn't work out but had a fun day out on the beach anyway. Fishing was a little slow but I did catch a striper and a quality surfperch to use for my beach Barbecue in the rain. Comment below what fish you would like to see for the next catch and cook! SKIN SIDE DOWN!!!
This is how I live every day off I get with my portable grill at North Shore Canavaral no matter what the weather is. Keep this video alive! I'm subscribing
Thanks for watching!
Vertical slices half way into the fillet a couple inches apart on the skin side will prevent curling
Thanks for the tip!
Love the Weber! Thanks for the vid!
Thanks for watching!

Always appreciate you mentioning how long you are out there for for your catches!
Yep, not always nonstop action even though I wish it was.
While watching this video it's starting to rain in SoCal. Big storm coming in. Cool video! Love the catch and cooks!
Time to get out the rain gear!
Gotta also preheat that grate for best results ...great video
Thanks for the tip!
Awesome video!!
Thanks!
love your videos Awesome
Thanks for watching!
great vid, earning the die hard name for sure
Thanks for watching!
@diehardfishing tie your flash minnow directly to your braid with a Palomar knot ...you'll feel the action alot better and you won't lose your lure
Thanks for the tip!
Man i hear the crunch of the skin when u bite it that is the best
Like a potato chip but better!!!
Your videos are getting better. Keep up the good work
Thanks for watching!
my kind of video nice job bro
Thanks for watching!
Looks great 👍🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the entertainment
Thanks for watching!
Boom! Bad Ass brotha! That's what I'm talking about! People always ask me why I fish when it's raining. My reply because I'm water proof! Tight lines amigo👍💪🌴
Same here! Plus it scares away most of the crowds so that is always a nice bonus.
Subbed! Awesome vids bro
Really nice vid!
Thanks!
What size weight do u usually use?
depends on the water conditions, anywhere from 1/2 to 4 ounces
Score the skin side with a couple of slices...
Also very hardcore! More videos!
Haha thanks! More videos coming soon.
Nice vid. The fish would not curl as much if you scored the skin and you would get less sticking to the grate if you left the grate over the coals to heat up while the coals ashes over.
Thanks for the tip!
Skin side down first
Nice catch n vook!💯💪👊LET'S GO!!!
Thanks!
Nothing like a catch and cook! Way to be mate! Do you have another channel?
Thanks, this is it for me.
Sick a$$ video lol. Keep up the great content bro.
Awesome! Not bad! Don't want it to lift up go to home depot get there fish grill it's only $10 plus tax I still have mine haven't used it😣
Yeah I should get one of those.
Great video as always! Any deep water fishing planned for this year? I'm heading out aboard the Seawolf late april, can't wait! :)
You bet! Hoping to get out on the kayak once the season opens up!
Sweet! Looking forward to see the vids! :)
Next time, give it a couple slit on the skin side. This prevents it from curling up. Good job!
Thanks for the tip! I will give that a shot!
I went out on President's day in February. Just north of Santa Cruz I caught a really nice Redtail (about 13 inches) and turned around to go to my cooler and got hit in the back by a huge sneaker wave. I was lucky not to get swept out... He is right, I was stupid to be out there alone.
Yeah never turn your back on the ocean. Be safe out there!
is there a size limit on surfperch? im looking on the california website but only see a bag limit.
I was interested to see that you didn't use any oil. Was that because you don't generally use it when grilling fish or did you just not have any? Great video!
oil is not necessary when grilling fish, more for frying. to prevent sticking try getting your grate hot and rub it with a halved onion. works great
Thanks for the tip, I usually don't use oil when grilling!
I was taught to cook fish skin side down first, it stops the fillets curling. Good video all the same, surf perch fishing is definitely 'interesting' this time of the year. However, boat fishing is not to be done with these big swells at the present time.
Yeah hopefully the swell lays down soon so we can get out on the ocean again!
Looks delish. Next time, score ur fish a few times and it won't fold up.
Thanks for the tip!
Man you guys make it look so good I decided to drive 2 hrs to try it out. No luck, but I will try again next weekend. My question is since I have never surf fished before. Are we allowed to fish any beach in the bay area?
Keep at it, I am sure you will get one! There are some beaches that are part of MPAs (Marine Protection Area), so definitely make sure you check the regulations before you go.
Whar size is your back pack? 20 L? 40L?
Thank you!
PS awsome striper from last video!
Did u replace the hooks n rings on your LC? If SO, what brands DID u use to replace? TIA!
I have not but I have heard that people do like to change them out. I haven't had any issue with them but I haven't really put them to the test with a big fish.
Dang!! That looks so good! Making me hungry!!
lol, it was sooooo good!
The outback is nearly finished... whew... I think I'll stick to rockies and lings... Perch will have to take a back seat... Ofcourse rock crab is open year round tho! :-)
Good news! Hope you kill them on the kayak!
cool man i was wondering what does teeth like things were
Useful tools for scaling fish.
Do you tie that flash minnow directly to your mainline?
I use about a 3 foot mono leader.
What size braid and leader do you use with the flash minnow? I’ve been using 25 braid and 20lb mono, but apparently that’s a bit heavy for leader? I’m a total beginner.
That's pretty much the same as what I use!
I have 30 pound braid and 20 pound leader
Score the skin and it’ll help with the curling.
Thank you for the tip!
Where's the beer?? brother!
Next time!
How many rods are allowed on the surf? Dfg regulations aren’t clear.
I believe only one, unless you have a second rod stamp.
Die Hard Fishing cool video! Btw, I thought on surf u can have multiple rods without stamp. But in inland water u must have stamp for multiple rods. Am I missing something here🤔
Damn dude, made me hungry!
It was soooo good!
What beach was that in?
Try to avoid using lighter fluid...leaves a bad taste in your cook and hard to get that smell out of the grill. Buy a charcoal starter. Or u can buy fat wood these days at most walmarts, stores w camping gear...
Thanks for the tip!
I hate it when ppl filet a small fish like that. Why wont ya just grill the whole fish then eat it off the bones?!
Make sure to bleed the fish first so the meat taste better.
pretty sure he did. you can tell by the gills when he was showing the crushers inside the fishes throat :)
Yeah I did.
You should put some cuts on the skin it will help with curling 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏 great video brother!!!!
Thanks for the tip. I will give that a shot!
You must kill the fish before scale him, that fish is suffering
Dude the fish is already dead..
most animals do that after they die it is a sign of their spinal and nerves breaking down
All u need is a ice cold beer
haha yeah
