- I am sure most of you, if not all, have at least heard about the More Than Fishing Surf Fishing Tournament so I won't bore you with the details. Check out my video to see my perspective of the day. It didn't start as planned, but I was able to put together a solid surfperch pattern and landed some quality fish in the final hours. What's the action on that rod you're using? Medium action, slow action? It looks like every time you get a fish on the rod bends all the way down to the handle. You need a limber rod like that to feel the fish biting?
I believe it is medium slow action. Some people like more fast action rods but I like the action on this rod for fishing the surf. It is all up to personal preference.
Die Hard Fishing yeah, i think a medium action rod is a little bit more for giving. It gives you a better chance to set the hook on those fast biting perch. When i used to live in the east bay i used to go fish the beaches in half moon bay all the time. I miss that a lot! I really like your videos because i can live vicariously through you and feel like I'm at the beach fishing once again. Thanks for the videos!

Nice video man! I live in the Bay Area as well, and I wanted to know what conditions are good to go fishing for surf perch? Any advice on how to plan a day for surf fishing?
Every day is different but generally I look for low swell and trying to fish an hour before an hour after the high tide. Good luck!

I live in Port Aransas, Texas. I wade far out just to cast. I know the Gulf of Mexico is more shallow, why don't you wade far our and do your casting. Stripers should somewhere close by
I don't like to wade too far out because the waves here can be dangerous. One big set and you can get swept out to sea!
