- Boston - You Gave Up On Love
______________________________
You say love is all you need
So the story goes
There's no changin' what you believe
But you're the one who knows
You gave up on love
You gave up so easily
Guess you're not so tough
You gave up on everything love could be
Saw the way so long ago
Guess it was beyond us
You won't say but you still know
You just broke your promise
You gave up on love
You gave up so easily
Guess you're not so tough
You gave up on everything love could be
Hey, you run to me but it's just not enough
Hey, you couldn't see that you had to be
You had to be in love
You gave up on love
You gave up so easily
Guess you're not so tough
You gave up on everything love could be
You gave up on love, hey
You gave up on love
And you gave up on everything love could be - Hudba
This song got me through some extremely hard times, and is pretty much my anthem nowadays. Even though it's not the Boston everybody knows and loves, it still bring me to tears with how amazing the production quality and instrumentals are. Just like everybody, Boston isn't perfect, and that's why I love them so much. If you look hard enough, you will find beauty in the imperfections.
Thanks, Boston. Rock on!!!🤘
Just saw Boston in Toronto at 70yrs old Tom Sholtz is still amazing! Keep on Rockin Boston. Rip Brad
I was there too :) Amazing concert, my first time seeing them live
Awsome!!!!!!
Great song, unique production. I think Tom produced this album and its amazing how the guitars and vocals translate in the mix.
what a great song, damn radio missed a winner here. so so sad about brad, RIP. Rock on Boston forever, thx for posting this
Hello from 14 years later
Been a fan since 1976
I never thought I would like a song without Brad, but I like this.
Sorry to all you critics this is a great track..... Boston in some places are still seen as a "one track band" ...so i love the fact they have made at least 50 good songs ... maybe more!!!!!
+roy ashman I love this band, but Iron Maiden is the best of all time...Boston is a close 2nd. I mean if someone in Maiden didnt shave it would make a difference.
I don't think they even have 50 songs
Every song by Boston sounds exactly the same thats why they aren't a band anymore psh. I love them im not just not a big fan I will say tho that I've seen more than 50 tracks played live by the maiden absolutely face melting boston could never make tears pour from a man's eyes like mine...
@@raysaudia - this is the dumbest comparison on the internets today and possibly forever.
@@jubreakitjuboughtit4236 Every Boston song sounds exactly the same? And that's coming from an Iron Maiden fan? Please. This has got to be a joke.
I'll give the corporate America album this. It sounds cool. It's not the Boston I love, but it still sounds cool. It will never surpass the original two albums, but it won't die either. I just wish brad Delp could have been on vocals. R.I.P Brad, R.I.P
Brad sang 4 songs on Corporate America
amazing Boston song! One of their best from their later years.
This song to me is one of their greatest songs they have, right up there with the old great tunes
They Are by far the greatest rock band to play live...I do not know too many bands out there that can replicate what they put out on CD/Album Live....easiest no brainier.. Past and Present these guys are Great...I've seen 400-plus bands live and I've seen BOSTON 7-times they are truly AWESOME ...JLR WALK-ON
James Reed ...Kansas has a fantastic story, too
I gave up on love. Love is a dream of days in the past never to be found again. Many other woman have been able to replace that special person.
brad is no longer here rip, but fran is, fran sounds great on this album!!! i hope tom will bring fran back to record another album
@lenny moses Ten years have gone by and no album..
I didn't hear this till 2006 but i think that it was fitting because i was only 11 in 2001 and i was able to appreciate it more as a teen than i ever could have as a kid.
THIS IS A DAMN GOOD BAND DON'T CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAYS. THEY ARE UNDERRATED JUST LIKE NAZARETH.
Underrated like naz and way better
"BOSTON": Ausgezeichnet... Immer!
I saw them in concert about 10 years ago....Fran and Brad were both in the band for the tour. They did a good job together. Fran was brought in to help Brad with the high notes....
Hearing them harmonizing together in concert (live) raised the hair on your arms. I was like having two "Brad's".
@@jyoung407 Indeed.
Great song. Except, I never gave up on love. Love gave up on me.
Wow you're gay.
+Kamina Elric why do you say that? Do you even know what it feels like to have love abandon you?
CryWolf Wow, you're gay.
+Kamina Elric Got something on gays?
Love is love. Lover to lover, Parent to child, Child to parent. Person to pet. Pet to person. Love is love.
🖤Beautiful but sad Song🖤
If I had to listen to one more song before I died it would be a Boston song hands down. PERIOD.
Marc Kaizer or Queen.
If i had to choose an album to listen to before my dearh, bostons first would be right at the top of the list
awwwesome im happy to see more boston they are trully a legendary band my most fave band overall
I really love this song! Funfact: There is an epic mistake @1:05, you can hear they cut out his voice.
Very underrated album
I love it, beautiful song ❤❤❤
Tom Scholz is BEAST!!! He's amazing. I'm from Boston by the way people xD
🥀Awesome Song amazing lyrics amazing music🥀🤘
tom scholz, some hate him for what he allegedly did to brad, but he is just a musical genius, when he is producing music like this, and the past albums, how can anyone complain.
TwangyDan TheGuitarMan ...Everyone has an opinion
at 0:49 I could start to sing "who knoooows where the cold wind blooows"
I love how this channel is all BOSTON. Fantastic band!
Boston is My Best !!!
Great Song!
W O N D E R F U L.....NEVER gave UP on BOSTON!!!
Tom had nothing to do with what happen with Brad. All Humans have their moments and make their own decisions. Both are 2 of the most amazing Humans to walk
this planet. Talent can only be based by their perfection.
Fantastic words
You are so right by what you said! Thanks for that comment bud!
Totally true man
Brad was my neighbor for 2 years back in the early 90's. We talked a lot. We were both divorced with kids and he was the most down to earth rock star I ever met. and I met a few. Sad that he took that way out he was a better man than that, just tormented.
@@mooner561 I think he wore his heart on his sleeve. Will always love Brad and the entire band!
This is alot better than the "2.0" version on Life, Love & Hope.
And you cannot get Corporate America on Spotify!...
Agreed.
@@anthonyhunt701 apparently all digital versions of this song and the other songs on corporate america were removed due to tom sueing the record company for under promoting this album
i love how they got the boston guitar UFO on the covers of their albums. haha xD
Great band for. Those notes!! No auto tune.
now tell me folks.. Bostons beats the fuck outta Journey any day :D
No contest!
Boston is better; but Journey has some good stuff too, no doubt
kedrigenn I was thinking same thing. Journey more into love songs in general. "Hopelessly in Love", though ....rocks!
well, I find I enjoy both bands an awful lot. Boston has more limited range of music, and hence each track has way more effort put into it. But, Journey has way more good songs. This is just due to the fact that if both bands have a ratio of about 9/10ths of the songs being good, Journey has over 150 total songs while Boston has only maybe 40, meaning I hear Journey songs way more often than the equally awesome Boston songs.
I find I get bored more easily with Journey songs cause their played so much more everywhere. Though with Boston I'm just now hearing some I've never heard. I guess it's just my experience.
very good quality, very good song!!!!!!!
Ditto--that's what I said when I posted my Boston videos from a month ago of Boston's opening night of their world tour!! Rock on! ;-)
Boston is 'outta this world' kinda good. That's why they always use outer space pics everywhere.
BOSTON!!! ROCK THE FUCK ON AND ON AND ON!!!!!!!
3:22 is why you're here. Admit it.
I'm not ashamed to admit this in my top 3 Boston songs (After "More Than a Feeling" and "Peace of Mind"). Would have liked to see Brad have taken a shot at the (male) vocals.
immer wieder super!
@HeavensOfMetal Brad died in 2007. He is singing on this CD. He didn't sing on this song. But he did sing on this CD. The only CD he didn't sing on at all was Walk On.
Brilliant!!!
Still listening in 2024 the greatest US band ever. Love from England
i wish this was released
i love this cd...can't find it anymore lol
Rasputin's in California has it and other well known music shops around the country, barns n nobles and borders are worthless and expensive and a total rip off it shouldn't be a hard cd to get just gotta know where to look
not saying you were looking in those 2 places lol would highly recommend Rasputin's if possible amazing music shop they got just about everything
Maybe they only had one run of it or something. The band hasn't even put it on digital platforms which is insane to me. How can you leave your WHOLE 5TH ALBUM in the dust like that? I love Boston though. Saw them live in 2016. They played the Star Spangled Banner, the entire Walk On medley, and pretty much every single song from Boston 1.
Izzy loves cool rock music 🎸 🎶 💘 Enjoy 2013.
sick song but then again its from Boston!
going to see them at molson amphitheater RIP Brad
Tom Scholz sings in the verses with Kim!!!!
@ceedee5000 I would like it if people would stop responding to a comment that's nearly 3 months old.
My friend gave me the wrong information, and I was blissfully unaware that he was wrong until someone told me 2 months back, so for the love of god listen to me... I KNOW.
Fran Cosmo (?) sang on this song, and might I say he has the voice of an angel, but I still much prefer Brad, and always have.
No I Give up on the bullshit,,not love,,
i am hurting
About the electric drums, AGREED.
VERU GREAIT SONG
@HeavensOfMetal Before saying that Brad died in the 80's, do a research, google and wikipedia will help you, Brad died in 2007, and he is in this album, he always sing with Boston (even before they were called Boston) and died as the Boston singer.
🤘😎
Ditto!
God Sound Hi Fi 😉
This is a great song,isn't it ?
@wiiman250 From interviews and such I have heard the new album is suppose to be pretty good! Although Tom is re doing some tracks from Corpoate America. He said he is shooting for an additinal 6 tracks, also said that brad had laid vocals for one or more of the tracks so we get to hear some new Brad material!
More like she gave up
on me. As the wheels spin in my head.
I need a piece of our memories
to get back in the game, For they say Love is a game...
Who is lead vocals/guitar on this? Vocals are decent, but guitar is amazing!! Especially at 2:40
@wheelkak Hmm.. I just looked it up there and you're right, I was told years ago he died in '87 but I guess I'm mistaken.
But my other statement still stands, I don't think Brad had any part in the writing/performing of this album and the voice he is hearing belongs to another vocalist.
Why is Corporate America not Available on Spotify? Does anyone know? Thx!
@GOGTOXIC Brad was on vocals. Corporate America was released well before his death. He was out for walk on, but back for corporate america. His voice is the nice high pictched voice belting "you gave up on everything love could be!"
@GOGTOXIC He was on vocals. Corporate America was released well before his death. He only was not on Walk-On.
who'a !!! hey !!!!!!
I knew you'd be here ,
@twiggymac they are but tom is slow but it'll be worth the wait
This message is in response to the comment by dad mamouth. What did Tom Scholz allegedly do to Brad Delp? It is well known that Scholz ran off original band members Barry Goudreau, Sib Hashian, and Fran Sheehan and really did them wrong which is a real shame and unexcusable. However, I was not aware of any transgression he committed against the late great Brad Delp.
He made Brad choose between Tom/Boston and his friendship with Barry, Sib and Fran.
is kimberley dahme singin in the studio version?
Not a lot of people know this. The drum sound is a Combination of acoustic drums. a ludwig super classic i believe. with Ddrum red shot triggers that are ran into an old oberheim drum module. a lot of drummers especially drummers of metal groups like trivium etc are doing this it gives you a lot of punch. but as mentioned it can bring forth a good or bad response from critics
bostons first lady singers.he'scool
This one is for you, Pat!!!
@wheelkak ok, i was being a bit overly dramatic about it, seems alot of people don't know.
i personally am very excited and cant wait. people who say its going to suck dont know what they are talking about, corporate america was a great album, it just had bad sales.
walk on was probably the worst boston album, and i use worst lightly
@lennymo36 oh i don't doubt that, but tom is a perfectionist, it shall be worth it =)
@spiderdragon1969 why doesn't anyone know that they ARE working on an album......
Great music,I thought they sounded excellent, but...honestly people WHO IS this?! Surely, that cannot be Boston! It isn't the Boston I know.
This one goes out to Judy Alexander, my wife of 12 years.
Hey bro, I'm with you on mine of 11. I think there are zillions of us.
+calibre18517 Her mother & sister are pushing the divorce. I'm glad to be divorcing THEM, because there might be a chance for reconciliation were it not for them. They hated my long hair and liberal Episcopalian beliefs. It was always a one-sided marriage emotionally anyway.
how much did charlie farren sing on this song with kim???
This song has 4 different vocalists on it (good luck figuring out who's who):
- Charlie Farren
- Kimberley Dahme
- Tom Scholz
- Beth Cohen
@wheelkak They havent posted anything on there web site? gonnahitcharide . com is a good place to keep in touch with Boston news though!
@jacobpkt That comment was made a month ago, I'm well informed now, I read false information from an unreliable source but being the huge fan I am I read up a lot on Boston after this.
Can't believe I went so long not knowing about Brads death/suicide.. Shows how much I read into my favourite bands, sorry.
I would loved to have met Brad, you're a hell of a lucky guy.
душа
@TheChristianDefender well they would try as hard as they could to get him back but let him RIP
obviously not when the albums were made.
2 people gave up on love :(
i was ownly joking man
You gave up on drums
You gave up so easily
Guess you're not so tough
You gave up on everything drums can be....
22 thumbs down? Who's this muslims with negative?
she did give up long ago trgedy for surer
I like the songwriting a lot on this one. But I would have let Kimberly sing all the vocal parts. I think that's Tom singing the male part and I just don't like it much. Boston's signature multi-tracked single-singer harmonies would have been killer with Kimberly singing all lead and harmony vocals. I wish they just let her run on this one.
x10! I loved what Kim did on this, same with "It's You". Putting her in the lead(s) would've been a great way to take the band.
It’s a shame we can’t buy this album from I tunes. Travesty
David Thomas brad delp was no saint either u know. Font get me wrong he is my favorite singer and this is my favorite band but brad had his fault, and tom did not move brad to take his life, I don't think we should judge tom, this is his band and he should have some say so in what they do, if they don't like it well boston is better off without them. Look how well they ate doing for themselves
Vartouhi Vartanian, Vartoug Vartanian, Rina Nicole, Rina Vee, Nikki Marcello, or whatever name you choose to go by today. YOU gave up on love...
i thought boston was a name of a city.
well um it is a city Michael deretz Boston is definitely a city in fact it is the capital
Love is for suckers‼
All their songs sound alike... Sad!
I normally hate to be a critic but I had to give up on Boston / The Tom Scholz band. His guitar tone is terrible , the drums sound like a Roland electronic kit and the songwriting has not evolved at all since "Don't Look Back" , which was an album with great songs.
Seriously? One of the greatest guitar players of all time and you think his guitar tone is terrible? I agree that the band has changed since Don't Look Back. That's probably because Barry Goudreau left the band at that time. After he left the band went from a hard rock band to a power ballad band.
Tom always sounds like he has a wah half open on his tone . Not sure what he is trying to achieve but it sounds thin and brittle. When he started going direct, the sound changed but still didn't sound nearly as good as most of his contemporaries . EVH was a good example of a guy that could get a Marshall to sound good in the 80's. John Sykes,Neal Schon ,Steve Stevens and Warren Demartini ,etc all managed to get pretty solid sounds from pretty basic gear .
"Boston"...Should have either quit or at the very least changed their name after 'Walk On'..This "Emo" lineup is NOT the Boston I grew up on! I'm all for changing with the times, but this disc is LAME!
+47ToddC This has decent songs!
+47ToddC The disc isn't that bad i like nearly every song by Boston including this album.
