About The Fugitive:
Harrison Ford and Oscar-winner Tommy Lee Jones race through this breathless manhunt movie based on the classic television series of the Sixties. Ford is prison escapee Dr. Richard Kimble, a Chicago surgeon falsely convicted of killing his wife and determined to prove his innocence by leading his pursuers to the one-armed man who actually committed the crime.
Jones, who also picked up the Golden Globe, is Sam Gerard, an unrelenting bloodhound of a U.S. Marshal. They are hunted and hunter. And as directed by Andrew Davis, their nonstop chase has one exhilarating speed: all-out.
So catch him if you can. And catch an 11-on-a-scale-of-10 train wreck (yes, the train is real), a plunge down a waterfall, a cat-and-mouse jaunt through a Chicago St. Patrick's Day parade and much more.
Better hurry. Dr. Richard Kimble doesn't stay in one place very long!

You know it's an old movie when you see Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford running.
Very true🙂I was 18 when that film came out, though it seems like only yesterday when I look back. (Now I'm only 1 or 2 years younger than Harrison Ford was then!)
A call we all have to answer
If I remember correctly, Ford did many stunts and a lot of running with a badly damaged knee. He hurt himself early on in the production?
@@j.burgess4459Ah geez. I had just turned eighteen and...yup, Ford was fifty-one.
Ford is 80 year old but still did the action in Indiana Jones
A movie masterpiece indeed. Harrison and Tommy were perfect in this movie.
That officer who reached his arm across the desk to grab a running Kimble deserved an "At least you tried" certificate.
I would have just given a weak, "Heyyy...". Lol. Then I would have gone home smug thinking, if they want me to catch Richard Kimbal then they need to pay me US Marshal money
E for effort?
31st in a class of 31 award
I know 😅
The #1 award went to the security door. It held him the longest
Fun fact: instead of setting up a fake parade with extras the studio just filmed a real St Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Chicago and had the actors perform their scenes alongside the parade goers 😮
Nine shots
And it worked perfectly.
Try to make the film believable and have magic bullets
How on earth could they pull that off with Han freaking solo? Wouldn’t everyone be asking for autographs
@@tommym321with the died hair, hat, heavy coat, and smart phones being decades away from existing, Ford was able to be more incognito for quite a bit during the filming.
I join a parade every time I'm trying to ditch someone, Richard was on another level. 😂😂
yeah sure is convenient when there is a parade nearby. the odds of that arent very high in general though 🙂
@@gratler- I guess the odds would skyrocket if you're in San Francisco.
@@thecowboy9698 I'm not from the US. you'll have to explain that to me :)
Back when an intense chase scene could just be people jogging and looking all around
A classic scene from a classic movie!!! One of the best action films of the 90’s!
Longtime Blues Brothers fans know this building well --its stairwells, the elevators, all of it. Main entrance seems a little more secure than it was in the 70's though...

Fun fact: The parade scene was completely unscripted. It happened to be occurring the day they were filming, Andrew Davis decided to include it to capture the feel of the city. You can hear a random person say "Yo Tommy!" at some point because he recognized the actor.
Another masterpiece that deserves mention. Even my mom loved watching it along with me. This part of the movie was actually filmed in Chicago during the St. Patrick's Day parade on March 17th, 1993. Another camera crew filming _Michael Apted's Blink,_ occasionally collided with the camera crew of _The Fugitive._
Did your mom actually come down to the basement or did you come upstairs?
Harrison For & Tommy Lee Jones at their super best. I still recall watching this breathtaking thriller in Cinemas way back in 90s.
Great direction. Super class acting
Tommy Lee got the award, but Ford’s performance in this flick was argyytje best of his career. The combination of desperation and determination was well played.
Couldn’t agree more. Nobody does desperation like, Ford on the big screen.
Has to be up there with the best movies ever made.
It is, easily.
It's a fine movie...but thats a bit generous. 🤷♂️

Harrison Ford's most iconic hat.
30 years! My most favorite movie ever!
Such an iconic scene. The best cat and mouse movie of all time. My personal favourite. I even saw the Chicago Sun-Times prop they used, dated, THURSDAY, MARCH 18, 1993 at Warner Bros World in Abu Dhabi.
Stairway Chase
Song by James Newton Howard
Why am I not surprised it’s JNH. The man is a genius.
Agreed. JNH's brilliance in 'The Devil's Advocate' is otherworldly. When we see Kevin Lomax (Reeves) helplessly wandering in the empty streets of an eerily vacant NYC, the musical score, _57th Street,_ reaches its supreme peak as we realize just how powerful Satan (Pacino) truly is.
Sorry to gush over that scene, but I can't stop admiring it. JNH's talent was the icing on an already exceptional cake.
It was the "and a woman" addition that made it for me. Kind of like the "how are you?" after declaring that there was a slight weapons malfunction, but everything was fine now.
I think it’s “at a woman”, as in “waving a gun and screaming at a woman”
@@mathuewilyums Could be.
Marshall: Richard!
Fugitive: That's Dr. Richard to you!
rewatchable and still fresh
I love how He grabs a hat and blends in with the marchers.
I laugh at the guards when they chase Richard Kimble they can't catch him
My favourite Hero HARRISON FORD.l love you too much.
The stairs scene is one of my favorite and when Richard made that phone call to Gerard..."You remember what you told me in the tunnel ?" ....
Gerard’s expression when Kimble is trapped in the security doors, brilliant scene
1:05 I don't know why I think when he stops running and starts walking through the crowd is funny I know it's smart
It's very smart and that saved him.
Apparently, Harrison Ford injured his knee racing down the stairs, with Tommy Lee Jones chasing after him. One can see Harrison Ford limping as he came away from the stairs and was heading across the open space towards the exit area.& security Doors. After the process of this scene was completed, Harrison Ford required admission to hospital for a surgical procedure to repair his # knee before he could return for further filming of this most Outstanding Block Buster Movie: The Fugitive.
Very true
2:16 I love this shot(pun not intended) how the camera waits for the bullets to hit and then pull focus on Kimble 👏👏
I recognize so many streets, buildings and structures having worked in The Loop (aka downtown Chicago) for so long. Fantastic movie!
This chase scene and the one in Carlitos way were nerve racking butterflies in the stomach scenes amazing
Kimble should have ditched that jacket long before Gerard saw him..
1:05
That little “hey”.
If you listen closely, you can hear people watching the parade yelling Tommy!
Timestamp(s) please
@@zizoumonk10 3:54 to 3:57, I think.
Yup. The parade scene was completely unscripted. They were filming the day it happened to be occurring, the director decide to rework the scene to include the parade. So those dudes saying "Tommy" are just random people in the parade. One of my favorite bits of movie trivia.
Great movie 🍿🎥 and all the actors and actresses put on great performances
Harrison Ford escapes in his Riddler outfit... ;-P
I wonder how many camera shots were made on that same section of stairwell as they ran downstairs to represent different floors...
I love this movie))) 🎥
Did I mention that I LOVE Chicago?
Ballsy move for him to leave the coat behind during that windy Chicago cold 🥶
Takes his jacket off and another guy in the parade takes it for him?
I was looking at the crowd actors looking at Harrison Ford during his escape. How cool would that be that you can say that you were actually there during that moment :) It's the end of an era where actors were actually on a live set for real with actors and decor :P
Amazing scene!
It's interesting to see a KC Starter jacket in this scene. Filmed in Chicago during the actual parade.
Such a great movie
4:50 Minutes full of power!😊
Harrison hurt his leg shooting this scene ❤
March 17, 2024
Happy St Patrick's Day everyone! 🍀
Ah, shooting a fleeing convict is not legal. He was not a threat.
Awesome movie
He could have shot at Richard’s foot easily in such short distance but he chose not to do so. He subconsciously believes that Richard is innocent and did not want to really hurt him.
Love 💕 this movie
That’s a great scene! ❤
Two-Face searches for the Riddler.
You mean Two-Face Searches for Indiana Jones or Han Solo.
he is not wearing the hat he picked up from the bin
2:05 The cop in the black hat and jacket on the left side literally did nothing.
And went back home to his family safe at the end if that day!

He takes his coat off but what does he do with it?
Great scene, but I find it hard to believe that a US marshal would open fire on an unarmed and fleeing escapee in a public place, risking the lives of innocent people.
I think the Marshall knew the glass was bulletproof and was just trying to scare Kimble.
Yes, because LEOs never irresponsibly discharge their firearms in a way that puts the public in danger or even results in collateral damage.
@MikeCGannon was this comment before or after "the acorn" debacle in Florida? Feb 2024
That's actually a movie mistake, as acknowledged by several sites. That's exactly correct: Gerard would not have had the legal authority to shoot at Kimble, who was fleeing and unarmed.
He was taking out his frustration I believe
Here as it’s St. Patrick’s Day today!
Happy St Patrick's day😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Did anyone notice how Kimble's hair looks different after he left the courthouse? In the courthouse it was parted on the left, and when hes running toward the parade, it appears to be slicked back. Ive watched this movie several times, and just now noticed it.
Continuity issues. All movies have them.
When you take off your jacket, where does it stay?
because you can't tell he drops it...
Tommy Lee Jones got the Oscar for this movie but the performance for which he really deserved it was for playing Clay Shaw in JFK (1991), far superior to his role as Gerard. Jack Palance (City Slickers), an old Hollywood favorite was the recipient of the Academy Award in 1991.
Its more fitting if you watch this scene on St. Patricks Day.
Yup! What I'm doing!
So he’s unarmed with his back to the marshal and running away. And he fires at him?! How is that legal?! Someone please tell me this just movie logic.
al fin y al cabo película, cuando Gerard se cruzó en las escaleras con kimble hubiera bastado con perseguirlo en silencio o haberle avisado a los compañeros ,sin gritarle para ponerlo sobre aviso hubiera sido más fácil capturarlo
We missed that comment about making the water blue ....
That door scene - if he had shot his foot he would've been limping and not running ...
The original edit of this had Kimble shooting first
Ya ok greedo lol
@@jrehn82 😂
Justice for Greedo!
I think the best part about the film in general is that it shows how easily manipulated the authorities are into believing people are guilty, when they ain't...
Esta película es buena por que la pondrán en español
Where did his coat go at the end?
You can see the guy that was next to him carrying it.
For those wondering, at 4.21 guy to Fords left is carrying the jacket hes taken off

Andrew Davis’s film Code of Silence, starring Chuck Norris, is even better.
The cops at 2:05 need additional training
História of Paraguai eu português e britânico eu falar português e inglês!😢
The Marshall should have literally kept his mouth shut and not shout "Richard!" and he would have closed the distance before he had a chance to run away.
But eh, movie logic
needed the confirmation its him
Maybe a little cocky knowing they were inside a court house filled with police officers and he wouldn't escape?

I do have to wonder why he called out to him on the stairs- wouldn't the element of surprise have been better?
I don't think that he was 100% sure that it was him. If Kimble had just kept on walking instead of looking up, he likely wouldn't have chased him.
