He seems bland and boring
Sorry, will not let Patreon get any of my money ever again, not even to give you support. If you ever make a Locals, I'd support you there.
Luke is A Awesome Character why some people dislike Him pathetic 😑
I was hoping Sakura and Sean will be the Main Characters
Boomer speaking here I genuinely like the young lad, he's cocky but he comes out pure of heart and wants to improve on himself.
It's important to note that he's considered the protsgonist of SF6, not the series. It's like how KoF games have new protagonists every arc but Kyo is still the series protagonist.
Personally I appreciate the shift of the central character role in the Neo-Geo fighters.
Kyo is the protagonist of KOF? What?! Terry Bogard will always be the face of KOF. Terry was around looong before Kyo was even a concept in an artists portfolio. I do love how SNK shifts protagonists around depending on the game.
@@Sinn0100 Terry is the face of Fatal Fury and SNK but he has no impact on KoF plot at all.
@@TakumiJoyconBoyz
I don't even remember Kyo in KOF 94. He was definitely in 95...but 94? I own it on the AES and don't remember him at all.
@@Sinn0100 Well he is on the cover art along with Beni and Daimon
"Why We Hate Luke"
Meanwhile the rest of the fandom: "I love this goofball shithead himbo"
Also helps that Aleks Le is willing to say the dumbest shit as Luke for the memes.
I feel like this vid was made before Aleks popped tf off. He's definitely softened the character for a lot of people.
I think the problem by now is that Ryu is too deeply engrained and entrenched into the mindset of the public masses and FGC to truly ever be replaced by any other character as the face of Street Fighter. Even if another character looks ideal for it, Ryu is just too iconic and connected to the series to have anyone ever really replace him.
Ryu is getting old .... he was born
In the 1960s
@@Lupo32 how old is Batman?

Yet his comics have been around for 80 something years
Eh but like
Ryu is still in the game and still has the legend status (not to mention his biggest story arcs are kinda finished)
I honestly dont really care too much anymore despite being a ryu main and fan
I kinda see it in a similar way to how they put a new protagonist in the Yakuza series, making Kiryu the epic "previous protagonist" with the hype cameos
I'm a Gen Z who hates Tik Tok and "new language". But personally, I think Luke is funny and endearing in his dances, phrases, and attitude.
I hated him at first but his cheesiness keeps warming up to me. I think the voice actor really helps too
bruh out here really not knowing that language changes all the time the more we learn things
Same. I think it’s sort of cool. Usually catering to “trends” is cringe but for this game it works for some reason
he's more of the goofball side than a delinquent if anything.
Luke is Corny
The difference between Luke and Alex is that Alex was the poster child when Street Fighter lost the mass audience and Luke is the poster child for the game that looks it its got it back.
I have no idea why the hell people are pissing themselves over Ryu not being the protagonist of SF6 when Ryu hasn't been the protagonist since SF2. Alex was the protagonist of sf3, Abel was the protagonist of SF4, and Rashid was the protagonist of SF5. This really isn't a problem.
Abel was the protagonist of SF4? Wasn't Juri the one who canonically defeated Seth? And Ryu is on the cover of all versions of SF4, where Abel isn't on the cover of any of them.
Because half of the players are nostalgia tinted boomers that hasn't passed the 90s phase and barely know what they are talking about aside from "Muh childhood!1!1!1!"
@@Zakon673 Juri wasn't even in sf4 on launch, she was added in a later version
Almost nobody knows that though, that's the issue. Capcom has done such a terrible job of introducing new protagonists that no one saw Alex, Abel or Rashid as main protags. Alex was the best attempt they made and that failed because they wouldn't double down on it. The problem is the presence of Ryu himself. As long as he's in the game, he will always be seen as the main because he was the original main protag.
i still think it's crazy that they say rashid is the protag of 5 lol. cause it sure doesnt seem like it
He really grew on me. Especially throughout World Tour mode. Guy cracks me up. Plus, training martial arts you're bound to come across a student/coach a hella lot like him. He's a pretty grounded personality.
So real, he's a himbo and personally, that's enough for me lol
He doesn't replace Ryu, nobody ever could, but he does show the future of street fighter after the fall of the shadoloo
No longer so dark and serious (like ryu)
Luke is just chillin, a serious vibe
It's just a Terry rip-off

“ I’m old and hate change”
There, saved you guys 15 minutes.
You say that like it’s a bad thing?
@@robertsmall5168 It is a bad thing because as history has proven, change is a necessary part of progression. Ryu was the ideal lead during the early eras of Street Fighter because he was conceived during the boom era of the martial arts film days, back in the '80s and '90s if you knew karate people thought you were one of the best fighters in the world. But as Time goes on, we either improve on the original or learn that some of it didn't work and was all smoking mirrors. Luke is an example of keeping up with current times. Nowadays, the current standard for what can be seen as some of the best fighters are usually MMA fighters with successful careers. Plus Luke is pretty down to earth and likes a lot of things the average millennial is into so he's very relatable.
This was 14 minutes of "Old Man Yells at Cloud."
Ahaha😂
Couldn't have said it better myself
An old man yelling at a Cloud would still somehow be less braindead than a Logan Paul fan.
More like 14 minutes of old man was right about everything he just said
"We all know Logan Paul is a bad bloke. Luke kind of looks like Logan Paul, which of course means he IS Logan Paul, therefore Luke is a bad bloke." Ironclad logic.
ryu will always be the fighting spirit of street fighter❤
Exactly, seeing the progression of old characters is what makes these games interesting and worth buying.
They are the heart and soul of the game.
Its pronounced "reeyoo
I agree!
.. "victory lies within the hear of battle" 😊
All the 8 OG fighters.
This definitely doesn’t speak for me. He’s grown on me. Good backstory, upbeat, kind of an ego, but he’s got heart and talent. Ryu will always be Ryu. If they’re gonna add a new protagonist, no one wants to see another Ryu.
while this is true i don't know how i feel about him dancing like he's set up a tri pod in the middle of the street trying to pull some views on the worst imaginable tik tok maybe a different win animation would be cooler

@@deadeye9219I honestly think Luke's dancing is inspired by both gaming pop-offs and some UFC/MMA pop-offs. It is cringe, but he's a gamer. We are ALL cringe. I have ADHD and can do and say weird, cringey things so I find things like this relatable and charming, but I understand where you're coming from.
Ryu has nothing to prove anymore. He achieved anything imagineable within the narrative and even more outside of it. It's good to let him "retire" in dignity and becoming the mentor character, the celebrity others can look up to, just like our new kid Luke. He fits the new main pretty well, beeing young, energetic, talented but still flawed and doesn't take anything away from Ryu, quite the oppisite, him looking up to Ryu cements his status as an icon. Calling him coockie cutter seems to be a very narrow western mindset, Capcom is a Japanese company and from this perspective Luke is exotic enough, now one would have blamed them if they would have used another Japanese guy as their new posterboy, in a fighting game nontheless, but they didn't. Ryu's new position as the undisputed master fits him well and serves his statis as an icon, and icons breed successors who look up to them. That the franchise celebrates it's age and not stands still in time is a good thing not a flaw.
zzzzzzz
Come to think of it what Japanese video game company has an obviously Japanese character being their main mascot at all? Certainly not SNK, Nintendo, Sega, Hudson Soft (rip), Data East (also rip).,Square... only Capcom does, to my knowledge.
I'm cool with new characters coming in; it seems a lot of long-running series are bringing in new characters to freshen things up a bit. I don't think that anyone could replace Ryu, though. I figure Luke will grow as a character.
Edit: I actually got my hands on the game and I don't mind Luke.
🤔 Problem is, Capcom CAN'T design good, new characters anymore. They've gone woke af with SF6, and have been since Season 4 of SF5 👎
Ryu is iconic, cemented in the brand. Im glad they made a new character for Gen Z instead trying to make Ryu relevant to them
i actually dont dig the characters....maybe its the combination of art style, but after seeing thawks protege..with those things, and then the other character seem to have their skill taken from their phones.....

i’d love to see luke, sakura, and sean become the new faves of street fighter with stores for them to explore
I don’t hate Luke. Of course he’s not Ryu, but the hate is really unwarranted. People hated Alex in the beginning too. As a character he DOES have a lot of growing up to do, but those who are really in the know when it comes to SF know that so did Ryu, in the beginning. ST1 Ryu was a complete jerk in a lot of ways. Though Luke’s growth will be somewhat different, he can work depending on how Capcom approaches it.
what how was ryu a jerk???!
Luke is the best character in world tour
@@ssppeeaarr In the earlier stories he was really insensitive to Gouken’s daughter, in almost a very modern day “protag doesn’t notice the girl that obviously likes him” way, and he often provoked his fights (it’s hard to imagine it today but in fact he was the provocateur in his fight with Adon in SF1, not the other way around, and did it by insulting Muay Thai, his nation’s great pride, and basically bullying around 20 pro fighters into matches and beating them in humiliating fashion).
Most of us got into SF around the II era, but SFI Ryu was a protagonist in the 80s mold, and a lot of his behaviors wouldn’t fly today with modern audiences (though I personally like this since it gives him a more interesting personality). The original Ryu wasn’t the more considerate, honorable stoic we know today. He grew into it.
@@ThePsychoguy wasnt that retconned SF1 tho? i think alpha series is basically retelling events of sf1. but yeah sometimes ryu does appear to be a bit aggressive from what u say in sf1. hmm but ryu was dealing with satsui as we find out. so it could be that was the reason why. lol.
oh i forgot about goukens daughter. man they should bring her back and into canon. i think makoto was suppose to be that?? or his sister. idk.
but ya glad ryus personality is humble and honorable. i dont think i would like sf1 ryu..... hahaha.
@@ssppeeaarr it wasn’t retconned, Alpha takes place after SF1. Notice for example Sagat is already scarred.
Satsui no Hadou is in the modern canon, it didn’t exist when the original stories were created - that’s actually how Ryu was back then. Before we judge him too harshly let’s remember the 80s were a time when male heroes were generally more hot blooded and aggressive compared to today. And, Ryu was young at the time, looking to make a name for himself.
Though he was pretty terrible to Adon, it might explain part of why Adon is so angry and determined to prove Muay Thai’s superiority so desperately in the modern canon.
The whole point of mentioning it is to show that characters can grow in unexpected ways, just because Luke is annoying now in some ways doesn’t mean he always will be.
And yes! on Gouken’s daughter. They tried to bring her back twice. The first time became Sakura, the second became Makoto. They should absolutely bring her back; she’s never mentioned but hasn’t been retconned.

@@vicentegeonix So real for that LOL
He's very yummy 👍
Tasty and goes well with everything? Yeah
I mean…when they introduced alex, he also found ryu and lost to him. I don’t think it’s a representation of their lack of confidence with Luke. I think they’re highlighting him actually by showing he can go toe to toe with ryu while still respecting the undying legacy of their previous main face of street fighter by having ryu still win.
I think that love luke or hate luke, ryu works better as a side character given where his story is currently at. Ryu is at a level of martial arts mastery that only characters like ken, akuma, and Sagat are even capable of matching anymore. He exists as an entity that everyone knows but that almost no one can beat. It just kinda feels right for him not to be the main character anymore when his skills have reached such a peak, kinda like red from Pokémon.
That's a cool way of seeing it.
what i think is crazy is that ryu has basically been a side character since the late 90s. He really only started seeming like the main character again because of certain events in the alpha series. and because he's always on the cover of games. Especially the cross over games like marvel vs capcom. (which even uses alpha ryu.)
Ryu is the archetypal character. Making a replacement that's supposed be cool and in your face doesn't normally work. He'll be treated like Alex soon enough.
That's true
Honestly, while I have to admit that to some extent grew on me, I still like Alex as a character better. At least with him, he is actually IS cool and doesn't act like a twat using memes that I am sure they going to be outdated in the following decade. Luke, the other hand, has victim to relatability fallacy. He is almost the like the Boruto of Street Fighter series, who is fan-hated on his own. Luke is just better than Boruto, because the former does not sound like a fanfic character.
I don't see that as a bad thing since the FGC generally loves Alex now. The FGC really is fickle with anything new, especially in regards to Street Fighter where so much changes but so much also has stayed the same. But with time, people tend to generally look back fondly on those changes. I don't expect Luke to be any different.
@@chidorisnake22 I agree, I think people will like Luke eventually when they look back, but I’m enjoying him now
He's SF's version of Poochie from the Simpsons....
Luke's ok, I juat dont really see him main protagonist worthy. As someone already mentioned in the comments, Sean or Sakura would've been a better fit. Especially since they're older now and have more fighting experience.
Totally agree. They already had a new generation set up. They just had to run with it!
I felt like Luke didn’t fit into Street fighter 5.
But man does he fit in sf6. Wish I could have got over my initial reaction cause he’s the character in gravitating towards in this game
I agree with the Luke looking bland part but all the other negative stuff I think you're projecting onto him. I could be wrong however as your comparisons definitely make some sense.
To clarify, I wasn't too happy about Luke at first either but playing him in SFV (because I wanted to learn neutral/footsies) I've grown to like him. His win comments after matches generally make him come off to me as a nice, good natured guy with a positive attitude, who is of strong mind (i.e. doesn't give up too quickly). I could be wrong but I think his whole look and (fighting)style has more to do with mixed martial arts having shown to be the most succesful martial art among competing martial arts, in this day and age. I'm no martial arts expert though, this is just my take. By MMA style, I'm mostly thinking of a tested combination of kickboxing and wrestling.
mma isnt the most successful, since it is not a single martial art lol. The most successful is actually brazilian jiu jitsu. And muay thai being a popular pick for an mma fighter. BUT, both of these martial arts are highly successful in mma due to the rules and nature of mma and ufc.
@sonic-bb That's kinda nitpicking to me, I'm being a bit rough in my wording. There are schools that actually teach mma though, I'm pretty sure but I could wrong. Personally I'd put bjj under wrestling and muay thai under kickboxing. Also I think you're missing the point as in street fighter it's more about the comparison to styles that were more popular in the past like karate, kungfu and kempo. Again, not being too precise with my wording here.
@@sonic-bb didn't wrestlers dominate the ufc scene nowadays? i mean it used to be bjj but once people figured out how to fight against them more styles of MMA has started to shine with those with wrestling background is starting to dominate the scene
Oh shut it. Luke is trash
Honestly they could've gotten the tortured past character and ties to Guile and Blonde hair much easier.
They could've just made him the Son of Charlie Nash.
Boom fixed the character.
My only issue with Luke is it seems they largely skipped over whatever character arc he could have when it comes to Street Fighter 6. I mean it makes sense as as Street Fighter 3 happens right after 5 yet before 6. Timeline wise. So of course things will be different, but still.
🤔 Same feels. Left wondering why the lore establishing more about him, is left outside in a comic, instead of in game.
Theres new story about him in SF6 World Tour
Honestly I completely lost track of the story after Street Fighter 3 when they decided to jump around with the timeline of the mainline titles. I enjoyed how they originally used the Alpha titles to kind of fill in gaps but after that it sort of becomes a mess for the more casual players like me. A shame as I enjoy most fighting game lore (which makes this channel a godsend) but when a company starts making weird choices like this I become less invested. But the bit of time I've put into SF6 is fun, especially the world tour mode while keeping the original arcade style as well.
@@Unquestionable Capcom I agree made some weird decisions with SFIV & V. The lore, is a mess. But best thing with 6, it's a fresh start. Connects to what brings the series together. Its roots. Complicated it may be
He's Sean that's been white washed, all his moves are the same even his level 3
They're not trying to "replace" Ryu, because they know that would be stupid. What I take issue with is, you seem to have a problem with Luke dancing and being a big dork, and even smiling?? Hasn't Deejay always been having fun too? Better call the cops!
At this point I think Dee Jay is worse than Luke. I don't even consider Luke as one of the worst anymore. Honestly they could remove 1/3 of the roster and it would only make it a better game. Replacing the characters would be even better but I would be happy either way.
But considering how successful SF6 seems to be I think we can both agree that it is probably for the best that Capcom doesn't really care about what I think.
Haha, well said! I respect that take 100%.
Honestly, he’s my favourite new gen (and I like all of them), because he’s just a living embodiment of enthusiasm and youth.
This is so different from Ryu who’s always been known as the calm, collective and mature character.
And I enjoy it, because both have personal story with fighting being integral to it.
Ryu has been on the journey to fight the best and better himself. Luke in 6 is trying to help guide others in their journey for strength while trying to grow himself, but he’s still early in the journey, as he talks about how he feels he hasn’t changed much since the kid he was before.
And, as the protag for 6, has similar tools to ryu while still playing differently, making the jump from ryu to luke not as big as Luke to Alex or Abel who are grapplers.
Actually, I think Luke is alright. I felt welcomed by him when I started up World Tour. Just a nice dude showing me the ropes. He’s a little milquetoast, but so was Ryu back in the day. I don’t think all the hate is fully warranted.
Luke is a member of a Private Military Company. This mother****er works for Blackrock. He's the true villain of Street Fighter.
... you mean Blackwater.
Blackrock is the more evil ESG promoting, property grabbing investment house.
Imagining Fang saying this makes it even funnier
I'm nearly 50 and honestly I don't mind Luke in this version, he was severely over powered in 5 and it was pick Luke or expect to lose after his release
In 6 he's pretty well balanced and there is character development if he's your master in World Tour, will he replace Ryu?, it's unlikely
I wouldn't might him sticking around for the next few games however
Compared to Alex, I honestly think Capcom is trying too hard with Luke. When they tried making Alex the main character, this stunt backfired. Ryu is always be the face of the series no matter who the protagonist is and me personally he'll always be my main to play as.
Alex was actually cool looking though, only problem was his backstory especially cuz many thought his red headband had ties to ryu but turned out it was just a regular headband with no meaning.also being a bland wrestler type character with poor and boring backstory is what killed him unlike with with Luke who is just hated all around regardless of his backstory

i'm 28, i love Luke, so dont put "we" on the title.
As someone who grew up in the 90s and so on, there were plenty of people who danced like "morons" even back then. I seen worse. Luke is not as bad as Logan Paul and actually kinda likeable to me. Though I still feel they could have done more with him storywise. I like him as a mentor type though.
Nah man, what are you talking about? Nobody danced before 2015, EVER! Break dance, new jack swing, techno, and dance clubs in general are all figments of your imagination. /s
I like Luke being the SF6 protag because he's the supposed "fresh face on the journey to getting stronger".
Ryu has had his bouts with the Satsui no Hado, but I think it's time for him to transition into the role of "master". He's the living legend. There's only so much you can write with a character who's been a vet for so long.
With Luke AND Modern controls, we can capture the Gen Z market in both style, and mechanics. Luke is the ideal, relatable Gen Z shonen. A gamer dork who is fit and strong enough to enter the ring with series vets.
Us older fans still get Ryu. He hasn't changed. Here's hoping Luke's story ends up with him being a student of Ryu, as Ryu was once a student to Gouken.
Well said
This feels like how people criticize other people who aren't already their friends.
Luke's personality in 6 is actually pretty good. I really like his positive attitude. He shines in World Tour.
His design made to appeal to younger generations is fine. Give that age group something to interest them in fighting games! Not a bad thing at all. Besides, It's a huge step above his SFV design, at least.

Why doesn't Capcom make Sakura the new face of Street Fighter for the next generation? I just don't get it!?

I've wondered the same thing.
Alex was supposed to be the new face, it's just weird how they set up so much stuff from SF3 in SF5 just to ignore all of that in Street Fighter 6.
@@yunjin909 Alex was supposed to be but didn't because he wasn't well received by fans at the time of SF3.
@@jonathanlisowski5618 Yeah, but even so, they hyped him in 5 and then Luke comes out of nowhere, that's too bad, I wish we got to see more of Alex, his journey was similar to Ryu and could have been interesting, oh well.
I think Luke sorta gets a bad rap cuz his initial image looks like some cocky youngblood w/popeye arms (especially in SF5). However after playing world tour in SF6, he's a pretty cool and stand up guy. He's confident in his abilities, sure, but not overtly arrogant about it. He has a more relaxed and overall supporting personality in world tour, especially when you're training with him; he does remind me of some quality instructors that teach martial arts, they look to teach and build up, not tear down. If he ends up becoming the face of the franchise moving forward, I'm pretty much all for it personally.
.....still, I don't think I'm ever gonna get over those freakish popeye forearms ;-P
He reminds me more of Dan Hibiki than being Ryu's successors.
I would enjoy a game with Dan as the main protagonist. Especially if they were able to walk that balancing act between almost capable and rediculousness. Dan HAS skill, hampered by his personality. He's capable of a lot, just needs the right motivation.
lol. fr man. but saikyo >>> luke. 😆
I insist Capcom has been trying to make the same character for over 20 years, their take of the blonde hot shot with no other personality trait, Alex in Sf 3, Abel in SF 4, Ed SF5, i could even argue ken and Joe took the part in sf 1.
In sf5 was rashid, but yeah i get your point.
Capcom already had a Blonde White Boy that the fans actually like, his name is Ken Masters.
This is a Japan thing, not a Capcom thing.
TBH, his personality really grew on me, and his voice actor did an amazing job, but god damn do his synthol-esque forearms still freak me out to this day.
He must really workout then forearms.
I like Luke, it's cool to have an MMA fighter though I think Sean would have been better suited as an MMA representative given his family's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu background and his training under Ken, he could have easily matured into a serious MMA contender. Maybe bring Sean back as a rival from Luke's MMA past.
That’s a good idea
I really like this. Here's hoping down the line maybe we get an older more mature Sean to challenge Luke in future DLC.
I really thought they shouldve added Sean too, im hoping for DLC 🤞🏽🤞🏽
We definitely need to give Sean his respect, bring back that Second Impact Sean.
That’d be fire. A Brazilian Jujitsu shoto character.
I will never understand why old people always cringe at new stuff. Just let it marinate my goodness.
Facts. I couldn’t have said it any better. I don’t think Luke was a terrible addition to SF franchise, same goes for Alex. They’re cool looking characters in my book. So like you said, let it marinate.
🙄.... will you still praise this trash once Capcom ushers in the full monetization? Battlepass is incoming + at least 3 currencies! When a game virtue signals as hard as this game has, the monetization is going to be dreadful. Enjoy your shapeshifting Luke, who has no visual consistency between his only 2 appearances.... Great Job 👍
@@TexasHollowEarth take your medicine
Honestly, I feel like that biggest problem with Luke is that there is nothing about him that really stands out. When I think of memorable Street Fighter characters they are either a reflection of their culture or a reflection of their fighting style, in the best cases, both......save for characters like Blanka and Dhalsim who are so bizzare that they can't be forgotten. This is why Ryu, Guile, Chun Li, E.Honda and Zangief as so memorable. And if you look at most of the characters that have made a mark since Street Fighter 2, that tracks. Sakura, Dudley, Elaina, Juri, these characters stand out because they a representive of their culture and how that culture is reflected in how they choose to fight. Even someone like Dan works because he embodies the whole idea of a fake martial Artist. I guess Luke is supposed to represent mix martial arts but that's basically what Guile is. Luke just comes off as a character who was the result of focus testing rather than....well....having a clue. Ryu is iconic dude. He appeared in Super Smash Bros. He's still a marketable face. New characters are welcome but the franchise does not need a new leading man.
I love how everyone in the comments has a brain and said hes just the protag of SF6 and not the series...fk this video
I feel like even Gen Z or Gen Alpha would hate Luke too lol Luke is a dated character even for the current generation of kids. He feels like Capcom was trying way too hard to relate to a younger audience that he comes off as "How do you do, fellow kids?" and its kinda embarassing. Ryu is always gonna be iconic and will always be the face of Street Fighter regardless of generation. Luke is gonna be all forgotten in the later years once Capcom realizes "Oh wait, people still like Ryu???"
NOOOOO A MAN THAT'S HAPPY AND DANCING TO CELEBRATE ISN'T MANLY I HATE HIM SO MUCH!!!! Old people are so obnoxious lmfao
I bet he thinks Dudley should have been the new main protagonist
Capcom doesn't have the balls for that!
Why not Sakura
@@KaitouKaiju because he’s a stuffy Englishman
@@nathanchenery1075 Sakura's a stuffy Englishman? Or was there another reply you responded to that got deleted?

this video aged like milk. luke is the most wholesome character in sf 6. they changed his character away from being bratty to actually being more encouraging.
Luke just looks like that one dude in school that made it his job to make classes as miserable for everyone as he can by constantly interrupting the teacher
Kimberly and Jamie are the no cap yeeters. Luke is alright, more of a gamer though, and he was playin darkstalkers, but he is a fortniter for sure
I'm 46 yet I'm afraid I cannot support this take. Maybe a little when he was in SFV but he's solid in SF6. Also pretty sure the likes of Sakura, Shermie and Chizuru performed little win dances that you'd probably consider 'cute'.
it's ok you hate luke but the target demographic, the kids love him
Why couldn't they just make Sean a little bit more different than can? And write you and give him a back story. Where hes trying to help his master who is on the Run from the law. And in this process, extreme the better fighter. They could even gave him some of Luke Brazilian mma moves.
Top Hat turning into one of the grumpy old people already? 🤔
Anyways, I'm a young millennial or elder Gen Z depending on where you get your information. The only thing I dislike about Luke is his Popeye arms and military background. I love his haircut and outfit... wish he'd wear shoes tho.
Why do u hate that he’s a military person r u one of those military bad people?
I originally hated Luke in SF5 but as SF6 was developed, i've soften up to him only becuase he's a shithead and he owns it
I would've hated luke if he canonically beat all ryu and ken since it would've been insulting legacy to have this rising upstart to defeat these weathered warriors and an obvious forcing of his flagshipping
I thought this video was developing a point (which was enjoyable and interesting) but halfway through it just devolved into bitter old man rants about the newer generation and drops salt everywhere???
Ngl dude the thesis at end being "look at luke dancing, having a good time, what a bloody prick" is kinda... sad?
Agreed, bro is chilling and enjoying life
Nah, I’m the same, it’s an old person thing 😅
Eh, he seems like a chill dude. I rock with him.
I would deduce that you don’t like John Cena either; for some reason every time I see Luke, for some reason I see John Cena. Alex was also a blonde too but he never got over, as you already said. Come to think of it, Jamie does resemble Roman Reigns a bit even though he’s closer to Michael Jackson.
Do we hate Luke? this is a massive improvement over him in SF5, looks and feel. I think he's alright.
But how can you hate Luke F. Streets?
"Why we hate Luke"
You mean why YOU hate Luke, Don't speak for me bud.
As an old school Street fighter fan, Ryu with always be the face of the franchise for me.
Why is everyone saying that? He still is, Luke is not meant to be a new Ryu...
I liked Luke the moment I did his trials. He's supposed to be this new generation but his combos are harder than most of the boomer cast. No doubt he had higher skill ceiling than good old Ryu in SFV. We got Ed before this guy and that dude was just playing on modern. As a poster boy, I think he's pretty good, low skill floor with high skill ceiling but with the added flavor of having a unique mechanic.
Luke is Capcom Japan’s idea of a stereo typical “all American”. I can see them now in a board meeting asking each other “what character can we create that will make Americans love our new Street Fighter games?” 😂🤦🏽♂️
Actually many Japanese don't like Luke and SF6. Let's blame Capcom and Kaname Fujioka.
@@oshikko3 I’m sure THEY don’t like Luke. I’m saying Capcom made Like because they figured WE would like Luke.
@@ghostlithium That concept is totally barebone considering they also make Kimberly,Jaime & the other new characters for us to like and from I seen they do like them and it shouldn't be the same case with Luke.
@@ghostlithium So what? Guile and Terry Bogard were basically the same concept and no one's bitching.
@@domx7zero157 Guile is literally a Jojo character.
I think this sums it up pretty well. Both Luke and Jamie come across as a pair of arrogant twats. That and I can't get over that Luke's forearms are massively disproportionate to his upper arms in a way that seems almost Popeye-ish.
...Which explains how he looks on the front cover of the game.
I kinda get Capcom's thinking, but Ryu isn't just the face of the franchise, he's pretty much the face of fighting games as a whole in the way Mario is for platformers. To try and make him a second banana seems laughable.
Meanwhile, Chun Li's legs...
@@Walt_Chocolate Those are fine lol...at least they're not SF3 level
Women who are built like Chun-Li exist. I've seen even curvier naturally

They tried this in the new MK Movie.
MMA Generic new protagonist no1 asked for. (I like Alex with his long hair in SF he didn't get a fair chance.)
The first generic MMA protagonist in SF history was actually Dee Jay.
He only received little popularity but players still find him fun to fight as.
@@KenMasters.dee Jay was a mma character?
@@technounionrepresentative4274
Yup, he wears MMA-like gloves and fights with a style that fuses capoeira, kickboxing, and break dancing.
The main issue lies with replacement, this young and energetic boy will grow old, becouse every person matures and realises that making a clown out of yourself to get some atention is one of the most cringe inducing stuff, and is bound to be mocked by everybody at some point in their lives, meanwhile ryu is a blank slate with some clothes on, you can admire his desire to be better, you can laugh at how innocent and funny some of his interactions have been with the rest of the cast through the years , there is hardly anything to critisize from ryu aside from what? his mad generic guy that does karate desing? which while true, it is still iconic, you out grow jake paul, you out grow social media and the need to stand out in anyway possible, but you will never outgrow self improvement nor the feeling of doing the right thing, nor the simple pleasures of life like a couple of rounds of street fighter with your friends. Do not get me wrong, it is great that Luke is there for the younger fans of street fighter, and im glad they enjoy him, but much like they enjoy that, they will out grow him and enjoy something else, soon enough this version of luke will have to go through drastical change in order to be tolerable for people who liked him in 5 while ryu will always be there to be the shoto everybody looks up to with respect, but who respects a child?
All I’m saying is
Sean or Sakura should have taken Luke’s place
I was born in 2001 so it’s not like I’m an old head (at heart I am)
I don’t like that they want Luke to be the main character now, he’s so lame
Ryu and ken, the original rivals. Trained together and grew up fighting and helping one another. Iconic duo
Luke and Jamie.....bumps into one another on a street corner and are now rivals..........sigh
in their arcade stories it's implied that they've known eachother a while since they were kids too
Sean would have been a more "Accepted" "Replacement" because he trains with both, & he is liked....Unlike Luke.....
As someone whos started with SF6. I really like Luke. He seems like the type of guy to beat you up then help you up and go out to eat later while also paying for it. Also comparing him to logan paul seems like a blow way below the belt, ignoring the fact that in the end Luke is a really good guy who just grew up in a different time from Ryu.
Luke should've been Ken's son. Enough time has passed to age him up.
It would've given the fans a reason to care about him.
Putting Mel as the new face of Street Fighter would make an even bigger lore-error for him than he already is.
Eliza gave birth to Mel only six days away from my 30th birthday back in 1995.
If my son were added to SFV and SF6 in his mid-20s like Luke, I'd appear in the game as an old man in my mid-50s!

@@TopHatGamingManChannel Okay, now you're getting really weird
Luke feels like Capcom's answer to Terry Bogard, only not as charming or long-lasting since he felt like an "afterthought" character for SF5.
I can agree with you on one point in this video: you are old.
"god forbid a young man acts like a young man the horror" that's basically the video
The problem with Luke is because he looks like a Zoomer Fortnite character that uses the exact same moves as Ryu and Ken. Looks matter!! People want a cool masculine character. The reason why everyone loved K' when he was the new hero in KOF 99 because he looked like a cool tanned guy in leather clothes
Funny you bring up Fornite when Ryu is in that game which really doesn't suite him at all. And who is this "everyone loved K'?" As cool as that character is he's another edge lord among the other edge lords in SNK.
Tbh, Street Fighter has its fair share of edgelords as well.
@@akilcharles3473 Funny you use "edgelord" as a term for "no one likes them" when many people do, it's just not your cup of tea.
@@domx7zero157 Oh no they like them but theres too much of them which is over doing it.
@@akilcharles3473 I'd have to disagree for Street Fighter. I can see that in other fighting games like Blazblue or Guilty Gear but Street Fighter never struck me as an "anime edgelord game". Cast is very diverse.
Luke will never be able to reach RYU level RYU is a STREET FIGHTER GOD
This video really is just "I'm a boomer and I hate change"
I love luke, I play him over Ryu any day and i've been playing sf since sf3.
I think its just a case of principal skinner being out of touch.
He's personable, fun, kinda dumb, and his fighting style is energetic. He's also designed around the M control setting so that new players could easily pick him up and learn the mechanics of the game. The only negative thing I have to say about luke is that he's kinda sidelined by the create a character in his own game. Thats more a problem with sf6 as a whole tho, they should have had the actual cast play a bigger role, even if just the new characters. Him and Jamie are supposed to be rivals but they never interract in the story mode at all
The new mains should have been someone young. Sean, Yun, or Yang.
Sean should have been his rival, but then we wouldn’t have seen Jamie
Here's hoping Sean come back
I think this video is a bit over the top. I've been playing Street Fighter since the early 90's and I really don't see the problem with Luke. He isn't in my top ten fave Street Figher characters for sure, but I don't have him existing rent free in my head so much that I need to make a video complaining about him either. He's fine enough and different enough to have a place on the roster.
I love Lukes dub voice actor
as many people have pointed out already: *LUKE IS THE MAIN PROTAGANIST FOR STREET FIGHTER 6* not the whole franchise like how Alex was in third strike and once people finally get over that he'll receive less overwhelming hatred.
That's a cope lol Luke is clearly the new Protagonist going forward Because Ryu arc is done, Luke will only be more important going forward not less that's very clear from all interviews
I was interested to look into street fighter 6 today, because of the promotional art. At first I thought it was a new game franchise, but then I realized it’s a freakishly awesome stylized new street fighter entry. And now I spent about 3 hours watching gameplay and reviews of it 😅. When SF5 came out, I didn’t look into the game at all, because their promotional art had the same old Ryu from SF4, I thought it’s just SF4 again. I think the decision to put a Fortnite-Looking Dude in center of a game, that is stylized like this, is pretty good. It’s like a small reboot, that attracts new players. Like when Fallout 3 came out. I’m pretty sure, with this Ryu Design from SF6 in center, the hype of this game would be less big.
The only thing that I like anout Luke is that he's American. But I can't stand how his shirt is untucked and he's wearing a vest over it. I do like that he's wearing normal clothes instead of a gi . However he'll never compare to the best American fight game sharacter, Terry Bogard🎮
I was born in 2000 and grow up with street fighter franchise. I am highly disappointed when I just heard they replace Ryu (MY FAVORITE CHATACTER IN ALL-TIME AND ORIGINAL OF STREET FIGHTER FRANCHISE) as a main character and give it to a modern tiktoking, social media, pansy ass glory seeker. no one like him will never ever surpass the classics as long as we remember the golden ages we once happily live and admired.
Have u actually idk played world tour nothing u said he is and I was born I 2003 and he’s a much better character than ryu
It's tradition that the new main character looses against the prior one. Ryu canonically fought Cody and lost in a single punch, and just got lucky he even survived that.
