    You did great for home hair color! You said you were not happy with the roots. When bleaching hair, shaft to ends are done first , roots last due to the fact they process lighter than the rest of the hair because of the heat from your scalp. Your roots probably took a brighter green than the rest of your hair. Your so pretty !!!!

    Just be careful to not use metal clips when bleaching. I am licensed, don't worry lol but the bleach can cause a reaction when exposed to the metal. Also, a little tip, your roots will lift faster than the ends because the heat from your scalp makes the process go faster, try to do your mid strand and ends first :) to tone out red, try using something with a blue undertone. I did like how the green turned out! Wish I could pull off those colors :)

    I've been dying my hair different shades of blue and green for some five years now. A couple of tips for you people if you want them:
    Directions, Crazy Color, Manic Panic and other dyes of the sort can be left in the hair for hours on end without damaging your hair. The first few times I dyed my hair blue (after a sort of burgundy purple and bright pink) I left it for two hours - and the roots (bleached only once) never take as well as the rest. The more dead and porous the hair is, the quicker the dye gets sucked into the hair, but 30 min is the absolute minimum. Foamy dyes like Crazy Color can be applied quickly if you're prepared to massage the dye in for 6-10 minutes, until the foam turns white.
    Green sticks better than blue, but it still needs to saturate the hair really really well for it to look vivid and clean, so you'll probably have to keep dying (bleaching roots, letting the previous dye job fade and reapplying the new color every two weeks or so) for a couple of months... But it will look absolutely gorgeous and if you're going with green, there's a lot more leeway than with blue. :D Nobody's gonna go "Oh, your green hair looks like it's supposed to be another shade of green." Applying a different shade to the roots and another shade everywhere else also helps! Experiment and good luck!

    the baby hairs, or new growth never needs more than 20 volume to lift. how i do it is, i apply 30 vol on the middle, and 20 for the ends and roots. the ends tend to lift faster as well due to damage from heat styling. and just fyi, the reason we do the top first is just in case you run out of product, than you can either try to scrape the jar and try to make it work, or just wear it that way and do the rest in a couple days to avoid excessive damage from over washing the hair. anyways love you, you are beautiful and it's so nice to see you and hear your voice again :)

    Just to explain it to you: Red plus green will turn out brown, which is what you got. So to neutralize the red, you should've chosen that. The Silver from Directions is actually good for gold/yellow hair - since purple is the complementary color of yellow. I hope this helps for other coloring sessions ;) Just always think about the color wheel.

I'm doing deep purple hair and my hair is a little lighter than medium brown but there is some henna on my ends 😖 unfortunately nobody says that you can't dye over henna... Best color is elumen tq@ all. It is expensive but you get a really nice tone. And I use some alpine green to darken it a little. My hair was also red before and I dont have any problems. It helps if you get a clearifying shampoo after bleaching. It takes out some more of the color pigments from the old hair color. :)
    And for the next time there ist is product to pull out the old hair color without bleaching it is a little less stress for the hair and you could bleach it it few days later and get much better result because of less pigments in your hair.

    Next time, I would do a test strand, maybe a half to a full cm wide of hair and try a deeper blue on half, and the same blue mixed with a bit of conditioner to see how it would come out on the rest of your hair. Everyone's hair is different, but I had deep purple and black hair for awhile, and I wanted to color it teal. It wouldn't lift past pink because the cuticle was stained, so I did what I advised in the beginning of my post, and the darker blue came out to the teal, while the teal came out like yours did in the video.
    I do love that color on you though!

    • @kaseykasket
      @kaseykasket Před 8 lety

      +Kristianathe no problem :) if it's deposit only color (like manic panic/joico color intensity/xtremers), basically color that you don't mix, I leave it on for a few hours (sometimes put it on before bed, wrap it up and sleep in it) it will help color better. another option is to recolor it after you rinse and dry it the first time if some of it doesn't stick (like the lighter parts in your end result). Good luck!

    You should have bleached your hair a few times over several weeks, if you have too much red/copper colour in your hair then the colour from the dye will look more green and the blue in the colour won't show through as well as it should. :) You should also bleach the ends of your hair first then do the roots otherwise the roots go blonde while the ends go red like what happened to you. That particular toner also won't work much on reddish hair. It works best on blonde hair.

    • @Kristianathe
      @Kristianathe  Před 9 lety

    aw I like it. Im very curious what color you were shooting for. Because when I first dyed my hair (to my profile pic) I had my friend who is a cosmetologist's help. It turned out pretty good but I was sure I could do a better job (HA!) so the other day when it was beyond time to touch up, I tried to do it myself. Yeaaah bad idea. It turned out sooo green when I was going for TEAL (kinda like the top of my hair in my picture). and my roots did not lighten so it looks rather silly. Oh well, you live and you learn! hah!

    your roots came out different because you bleached the virgin hair both times. you should bleach your virgin hair last that way it matches the rest of your hair because the color lifts faster. I learned the hard way when i dyed my hair red and my roots were hot bright red and the rest of my hair was red/magenta.

      @kaseykasket Před 8 lety +1

      +Līga Baranovska I would at least put some developer (no bleach mixed in it, just the developer) on for maybe 15 minutes to open your cuticle to receive the color better - Think of virgin hair as a cold piece of clay; in the sense that you have to work pretty hard to get it stretchy and moldable, whereas clay that you have been rolling around for a minute is pliable and you can do what you want with it. Hair that has been chemically treated is the warm clay - the cuticle is slightly open and can suck in color like a sponge. Virgin hair has a tight shut cuticle, and just putting regular color on it will be harder to get into the hair. Putting developer on it for a few minutes will help open it up enough to suck those dye molecules in there.

    Okay, I bleached the ends of my hair (my original hair is black, its like Asian beautiful thick hair.) and I wait till its blonde (not white blonde) I did my dye and it shows more blonde than my light purple, (lavender) and the purple is darker. I just finished my hair dye and its night and kinda wet still. It looks like my hair was never even dyed but it has some ugly blonde hints in there even though I got every stand. I don't know. I'll come back tomorrow to see if its a natural thing when your hair is just dyed. If its suckish can you give me tip to make the dye look awesome and not crappy? Did u have some type of oils in your hair prior to bleaching? ? Doesn't look like u had much damage so I was just wondering?

      No, i didn't,they were just extremely greasy lol :D
      And that is why i wanted to bleach just one time - to avoid the damage ;)

    Hi I'm a professional hairdresser and I just want to tell you that using anything higher than 20vol on the scalp isn't safe you can still use 30vol on the mid-lengths to ends. It's obvious you couldn't have known this which is why I am disappointed that directions aren't telling people this when its purchased or on some kind of leaflet. The reason I'm telling you this is because using a peroxide higher than 20vol on the scalp is it can cause 1st,2nd or 3rd degree burns. 3rd degree of heat is applied.

    Well, I would like to ask some stuff, but FIRST off, GURLLL! YOU ARE GORGE! I wish I was pretty as you! :P
    Also, I have dirty/sandy blonde hair, and I was wondering, would I have to bleach it first to dye it ANY color really!? Thanks! :3

      NikkiRandom153 There are loads of colours that would already work super duper well on your hair colour c:
      I don't think it would be 100% necessary to bleach, did you have any colours in mind?

      NikkiRandom153 If you're gonna dye it a really rich, dark-ish color, then there's probably no need to bleach it. However, if you want pastels or something really bright, then it'd be best to bleach it.

    Did you put the dye in while your hair was wet? It's a pain to bleach, wash, dry, tone, wash, dry, dye, wash, dry.

      +xXMissFantastic I toned the hair while it was wet, yes.

    Is only 88ml of Directions enough to dye my hair completely...i have medium size hair and its pretty thick tho...so idk if i should by another one or just do it with 88ml

    • @Kristianathe
      @Kristianathe  Před 9 lety

      \m/ SLAYER \m/ Hmm, if you have thick hair I would probably suggest 2x 88mm , but also if you can't purchase another one, try mixing it with silicone free conditioner. The color will be more faded, but the product will be enough ;)
