    It seems like every time you blink your eyes a NEW SUV is being debuted. Currently, there are 20+ non-luxury sub-compact crossovers on the market, and the crossover SUV segment is expected to remain on a rapid incline here in North America. So, it comes as no surprise that Mazda is trying to expand their SUV portfolio, in order to boost sales figures.
    Prior to 2020, Mazda only had three crossover SUVs in their lineup: the CX-3, the CX-5, and the CX-9. The CX-3 (Mazda’s smallest SUV), was always on the smaller side of the spectrum when stacked up to its more girthy competitors. In fact, the CX-3 offers the 2nd least passenger volume in the Sub-Compact Crossover SUV segment.
    So, Mazda knew that if they wanted to attract more consumers into Mazda showrooms, they had to offer more space, while still remaining competitive pricewise and feature-wise.
    Introducing the ALL-NEW 2020 - 2022 Mazda CX-30!
    This is Mazda's latest addition to its SUV lineup, but it is NOT the most inexpensive/compact crossover that Mazda has to offer in the United States; that title still belongs to the CX-3 (discontinued for 2022).
    Mazda claims that the #MazdaCX30 will be the ideal answer to reign supreme versus other competitors within the oh-so-competitive Sub-Compact Utility Vehicle segment. Some of the many competitors that the all-new Mazda CX-30 will be stacked-up against will include the Subaru Crosstrek, Chevy TrailBlazer, Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR, Ford EcoSport, Kia Soul, Hyundai Kona, Nissan Kicks, Jeep Renegade, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, Fiat 500X, and the list goes on-and-on (remember there are 20+ competitors)!
    So, did Mazda equip the new CX-30 with enough features, practicality, and curb appeal to survive the raging stampede of sub-compact utility vehicles? Or will the CX-30 just get trampled (and kicked aside) as other competitors dominate the segment? There's only one way to find out! Enjoy this #Pros and #Cons countdown video.

    Just bought my cx-30 select last week and it's my best purchase ever. The moment I sat in one I fell in love with how smooth and easy it was to drive (and I've only driven small cars before) and how quiet it is on the road. No regrets.

      @@xoxpriscilla still loving it!! The trunk and back seat when put down was able to fit almost all furnitures I needed to transport even thought this is smaller than the cx-5 which was amazing! I do think the cx-30 is best for up to a family w small kids because the backseat is smaller BUT can definitely still fit 4 adults comfortably just not as spacious as most sedans backseat.

    The lack of touch screen is an excellent safety feature and I find the controllers very intuitive. I have not missed the touch screen once in my mazda2. Edit. I now have a CX30 and my opinion hasn't changed.

      I actually prefer the Mazda controls over a touch screen. I recently had to rent a car (VW) and then had to try to figure out how to use the touch screen controls. That by itself was confusing and then taking my eyes off the road while driving to use the touch screen was problematic. With Mazda's controls, it's quite easy to deal with the entertainment, navigation, etc.

    • @TimFleisher
      @TimFleisher Před rokem +3

      Agreed, they didn't overlook this at all. They actually did the opposite. The infotainment in this car is great for what it is. The knobs are MUCH safer than touch screen as you don't have to change your sitting posture or focus on the road to operate the controls. Much much safer than the touch screen IMO. I think the "misses" in this video really show how amazing this car is.

    When I buy a vehicle, I buy it for my driving comfort and I really don't intend to spend much time riding in the back seat. For all you people who are so concerned about your passengers comfort, I suggest you purchase a limousine. I understand pointing out the amount of room in the backseat of vehicles and rear cargo space as well, but I don't agree with complaining about the amount of space a manufacturer builds into its vehicles. The cx-30 is the perfect size for me and many others as demonstrated by Mazda's sales. If you need more room purchase a larger model!

    • @sawadeeaust9762
      @sawadeeaust9762 Před rokem +4

      Hahaha, spot on! Mazda has various sizes and choices. So for a family of 4 and more , go for CX-5 or 6 or 8. CX-30 is beautiful and hanldle perfectly with reasonable price for singles or small families, full stop.

    I have just bought a 2021 CX-30 Preferred. I did not want AWD nor did I want turbo. My reasons for buying mine are as follows: 1.) TOC and Maintenance. Cheap on gas, easy to change oil, sparkplugs, and normal basic maintenance. 2.) Build quality. The car is tight, quiet, so much so after owning it two days my wife hit a deer. The body shop said it was one of the best built cars they have ever worked on. The only thing that broke was the chrome grill trim. repair cost including labor and taxes was $500.00 even 3.) interior is outstanding in leather. Beautifully put together, everything is so smooth and detailed. 4.) Ease of getting in and out. My wife has bad knees, it is extremely hard for her to enter a lowered car, and raised truck, she stated, "I can just slide right in and not have to lift my body to climb." 5.) Safety features. With all the default safety features insurance is so cheap.

    Nice video! As a sequential owner of a 2017 Mazda 3, 2019 Mazda CX-3 and now 2021 Mazda CX-30, I actually don't see the lack of a touchscreen as a miss. The previous two Mazdas I hardly ever used the touch factor because the dial and buttons were so ergonomically placed and offered the tactile feel of clicking and selecting that I prefer. The voice commands were also very accurate and preferred for using the navigation features. So now the CX-30 eliminates touch, and I'm fine with it. The fingerprints were annoying anyway. Travel in a car with a touch screen dominant infotainment and the screen looks like tiny dog noses pressed all over it. I like leaning back into my comfy seat, clicking my options without leaning forward, and still seeing what's going on ahead of me as I drive since the screen is placed at the view line on the dash. Just my opinion, YMMV.

  • @miadeckler8896
    @miadeckler8896 Před 3 lety +53

    I love that the screen isn't a touchscreen. I'm very anal about scratches and fingerprints so I personally love that the screen isn't a touchscreen. Personally. But I do have to say it is way more distracting having to find the dial, I also use Siri a lot for my commands.
    I'm also only 4'11 so completely on the opposite end when it comes to height so backseat leg space really isn't a bother to me.
    These are all things I've noticed just after a month of owning the Mazda CX-30 Preferred.
    I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND this vehicle it is a wonderful machine so far!!! :)

    I love love love Mazdas, my dad for some reason doesn't he says he doesn't like front and rear end designs on the newer Mazdas. But I know many people who drive CX-5's and Mazda 3's and Mazda 6's who all love their Mazdas. There is just one person I know who has a Mazda CX-3 who is unhappy with their Mazda, she doesn't like the ride, it's not AWD, she misses the Subaru she used to have.

      Hey, Anthony! Same here - I love Mazda vehicles too.
      Wow... I'm surprised your dad doesn't like the design language of newer Mazdas! The exterior styling is honestly one of my favorite attributes alongside the impressive luxury-like cabins (and superb driving dynamics). Regarding your friend who has a CX-3, I can sort of understand why she might not like the ride. Mazda vehicles tends to have a more driver-focused/borderline-firm rides that is far from the typical norm of plush and absorbent. While driving you definitely feel where the tires are, unlike a lot of modern day cars, which tend to have more numb steering and more plush suspension setups that provide less road feedback.
      All in all, I really like the CX-30 as a whole. But, as you saw, it has a few flaws. Of course, no car is perfect - so it is important to take these "Hits" and "Misses" with a grain of salt. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND VIEWERSHIP, ANTHONY! You're truly spectacular!!! 😃😃😃

    Eyy you're back! Loving these style of videos Marcus. Also, big thumbs up on the B-roll it looked very clean man.
    It's a shame they don't offer a touchscreen but then again the layout isn't made for that; the screen is too far off as you mentioned. And yeah that backseat area does look somewhat restricted as you said. But I'm just nitpicking here, it's an overall appealing little thing.
    Keep it up Marcus! Quality content as usual!

    Love this vehicle and would be happy to own the turbo version. I think once I went down the cx30turbo path I would be tempted to just jump to the cx5 turbo if the wallet allowed. I also like a touch screen but at least the Mazda never has the dreaded finger prints. 😂. And one more small nit I had with this car is the smallish fuel tank and range. Fun to watch video!

    Just came across this video today. We purchased a new 2023 a month ago. Pretty happy with it. I'll comment on a couple of your negative points. 1. Rear Space - Since I am 5'5' and my wife is shorter, we pull the front seats forward, giving plenty of space in the rear. Not everyone is Tall. 2. Touchscreen - We don't miss it; the research is correct, safer with dials. Touch screens would have a tendency to be distracting. 3. Heated rear seats and cooling seats are pretty luxurious - not critical for us... we don't miss. 4. Rear Camera - Agree... camera could be more robust. A Positive: Mazda allowed us to use Apple Carplay with our CX-30 Select. We also own a 2022 Mini Cooper S and do not have that functionality, as it is only available if you step up to a Mini with a navigation system. Kudos to Mazda for giving us that option without forcing us to purchase a navigation package. We prefer to use Google Maps, not the nav systems' default maps.

    Have 2021 CX-30 Select AWD for 9 mo. now after Civic was totaled. Pros: Drives very nicely, like a car. Safety features work well. Good value for the $$. So far I avg. 32 MPG!! Cons: Center and glove compartments are small and don't fit much. Wish the brakes were slightly more responsive. Wish the cargo was longer for car camping, but I knew dimensions when purchasing.

    I do agree with you that back space is too small and not convenient.
    I'm 188 cm tall. In driving position the front seat do not allow me to seat in the back seat.
    Furthermore the back seat cannot move because of the wheel passage.

    I’ve owned a stock 2020 CX-30 for about a year and a half now, love it to death actually, it’s got all the features a college kid could ask for, AND I picked it up with ZERO interest (took advantage of the slump in the economy during the early pandemic!).
    Here’s some things I agreed or disagreed with:
    1. I actually don’t like touch screens as I have a tendency in my mom’s car (which has a touchscreen) to fat-finger buttons easily unless I plan to redirect my full attention to the screen, so just being able to use the dial and clicker is super helpful as it means MINIMAL distractions while driving.
    2. The Reverse Camera is fine to me, but I also learned to drive without the camera, so I don’t rely on it as much as some, mostly just helps me park and is a double checking tool for reversing to me.
    3. Some of the lack of features don’t bother me as, again, I learned to drive in a car without those features first, so I’m unbothered by lack of those.
    4. The backseat isn’t super spacious perhaps, but I have sat (and slept) in the back of the car as a 6’ 5” giant, and it was just about as comfortable as any other car’s backseat is for me.
    5. I agree with all the upsides (though I do not possess a model with a assisted lift gate), but you failed to mention the AMAZING stock sound system! The only modification I really seek to make to my CX-30 is getting a nice subwoofer installed in the thing to beef that part of the sound even more.

      Hey thanks for your supplementary input. I have a question about lack of touchscreen. I use Android auto through my car screen with touch. Sometimes directions aren't accurate by voice so I have to type it in. How easy is it to type with the dial? Or would I have to grab my phone to enter in the info?

    • @jalakor
      @jalakor Před 2 lety +1

      @@monst3r91 I’ve never had to type on the thing, I usually just set the navigation, THEN drive. It should pair just fine and you can set your phone up in front of the screen on its side for a visual. Not sure if they offer built-in navigation on the car, but I wouldn’t bother with it as it’s likely a subscription or somethin

    I hate the touchscreen & awkward placement of it on my 2020 Corolla SE sedan 6-MT. Lots of stupid tech-bloat in vehicles today across-the-board, & I have zero interest in using my smartphone with my auto in any fashion. It stays in my pocket while I am driving. I'm thinking of ditching my Corolla sedan for the CX-30 in 2022, & none of the negatives featured here are even on my radar as something I would find a problem with. I would say that the generically-uniform extra-thick black plastic cladding + entire rear bumper is the biggest negative.

    This is going to be a little late but I just bought a cx-30 last week and one miss that is a big deal for me is the location of the cup holders. Since I do bring my coffee/smoothie to work, it usually hits the hazard and AC buttons. I would like to buy those extenders but it gets in the way of my knees and the console. BUT overall I love my cx-30 especially the accelleration.

    It's super smart how you compare the numbers for horsepower, headroom, etc with others in the segment, in descending order. It makes for an apples to apples to comparison across the entire segment! Also I can't remember if I've said this before but your editing is off the charts? What are you using and where did you learn to edit like this? It's awesome! The graphics are like TV quality!

      Ben, thanks so much for the compliments! I try my best to give the viewer a precise, yet concise visualization of where vehicles slot within their respective segments in an easy-to-comprehend descending order. Indeed! As you mentioned, this method of data display makes for a great "apples to apples" comparison.
      Wow, man! TV quality!?!?! 🤯🤯🤯 I really appreciate the kind words. I'm so glad that you enjoy my editing style. It's definitely less traditional, but I think it gets the point across in a visually-appealing and information-rich fashion.
