"It's the perfect shitbox truck"
This is why I love this channel. Ford might as well market this slogan for the Maverick, because it's EXACTLY why I want one.
They should just make a brutally honest commercial about someone getting denied for financing on an idiotic loaded Ram 1500, where they then go into a Ford dealership and realize they can afford a Maverick without it ruining their life. Or perhaps a commercial where someone just lives a normal ass regular life with their Maverick putting in service. I couldn't care less if another $50,000 SUV comes out, but another sub-25k great car is something to really celebrate. Maybe we just need a Civic truck.
Also it's the only truck thing I know of that can get car gas mileage
@@thatoneotherotherguy Spot on.
@@JKDJack the Hyundai Santa Cruzzz is also similar in that respect.
@@thatoneotherotherguy but id expect the maverick to be at least a little more capable, and debatably more reliable.

You guys somehow always manage to make 20-30+ minute videos feel so short. That deserves an award!
I know I wish it was longer!
The swap of topics by Jack is very very well paced
Came for the car chat, stayed for the chair disparity. Marc in a Herman Miller and Jack in a red folding wrestling chair.
Nice.
lol I knew that was a Herman Miller
Balanced by the Type R vs C8Z.
As someone that just got their first ever desk and chair, now that I know the market I see Herman Miller chairs literally everywhere lol. They haunt me.
Mark needs the airflow for his engorged prostate, Jack prefers the cooling sensations of powdercoated steel on his long balls.

And the award for car related CZcams channel of the year goes to… SavageGeese!
Thank you for all the effort you put in to these videos all year around guys!

As an audio engineer, I am super happy with your emphasis on objective quality of sound systems in cars. It's always an afterthought in reviews from other channels. Used to be if you wanted good sound in your car, you'd rip out the stock system and go aftermarket. But the incorporation of infotainment in cars basically killed that strategy for most consumers. So knowing what cars have good sound systems is paramount to those of us who care. Good on ya!
Ya honestly most reviewers don't even mention it, or say "it sounds good 👍😀"
Im just an audiophile and I wish that they would have top notch systems and sub add-ons or upgrades available at build time.
@@boywonderrr71 You get 10x better sound with aftermarket anyways.
The best sound system is in the Bentley Mulsanne tho..
@@GOLD_FEVER aftermarket is such a bitch now though, with the infotainment connected to/controlling everything.
Best HONEST car channel on CZcams hands down. The call it as you see it attitude is what we want. No bowing down to the car companies or sponsors
I've been subbed to this channel since '17. I'm not a "car guy" or, "enthusiast", but I do like cars. What made me sub is that SG is the consistently high level of knowledge, attention to detail, execution, professionalism and humor ("Why do testicles droop?") in every video. Doesn't matter if it's a base level Corolla or a Porsche GT3. The same level of energy, excellence and care is put into every review, it's just that apparent. Thanks again and looking forward to the 2023 reviews.
Thought you said " i've been subbed to the channel since i turned 17" lol. I was like damn this guy is pretty well spoken for a 17 year old!
@@GOLD_FEVER Lol! I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for a 17 year old to be "well spoken", but,....I know I was pretty dopey when I was that age a long time ago.
Mark battling his inner BMW and Honda fanboi feels all at the same time, impressive! Kidding… the CTR seems amazing, can’t wait to see a full review. Ionic should have won tho 😉
The RDX is under appreciated. My wife bought one and I’m annoyed how much I like it.
congrats! hope they get more love!
They sure scoot!
I like how Mark succinctly articulates the distinction between novelty vs innovation in the EV space.
Would you guys be willing to put the sound system data somewhere on your website? It would be nice to see the graphs and readouts from each measurement side by side
I'm with you! These guys are the only reviewers who test correctly!
Given the time and effort put to create them, it would make them more accessible thus even more valuable.
I have dropped the ball on this. Its just a matter of time on my end.
@@savagegeese we're just happy to know it's on the list! I'm always interested in audio systems of cars, but most reviews stop at "Sounds good! Tons of bass" -_____- lol

You guys are always amazing!
In this EV era, GR86, GT4RS, Elantra N and Civic Type R are monumental IMO.
NPC SUV era
@@tmmtmm we're truly in the NPC era. Cars being sold with no soul and fun cars going away for boring EV trend cars.
@A being that all future development cost has been focused on EVs for 3+ years now, I'd argue that the EV era has come. The cars we have got this year and maybe next are the last new gen ice cars. I think that is enough to qualify us in the EV era
@@GetOffMyLog i think the debate is because of infrastructure and battery tech. thats the real hold back

Wow Patrice.. I'm big fan! I love it when two of my worlds (music and auto) meet like this! And yep, Savagegeese are USA's finest export ;)

I want an 80's 300sd turbo diesel so bad!
Gotta love all the work your team puts in, great wrap up of the year
SavageGeese videos never feel as long as they are. Always entertaining
As an Elantra N owner (DCT) I’m glad it got an honorable mention! It’s my first auto ever (been driving 20 years). After an accident and a joint replacement on my right arm earlier this year I had to drop the manuals sadly but this car rips!! For the price there’s nothing that touches this car If you need the flappy paddles😊

@@triikpikachu9754 as a Honda fanboy, I do like the Elantra n

Happy to see the MDX Type-S get some more love. I purchased one days after watching their review, specifically after test driving the Q7 and X5. Love this list though - great to hear the 2022 retrospective.
I completely agree. I don't own one myself, I drive an 07 Tech, but Im definetly passionate about the brand and believe in their philosophy. Awesome car all around
Agreed. I don't own one, I have an Integra, but I was given one as a loaner (which surprised me) and I was super impressed. I am not a person who likes SUVs, but if I could afford to have more than one car and one was larger? It would be the MDX Type-S.
why'd you buy it over the x5?
@@roboticvenom1935 It has as much storage capacity as an X7! I didn't realize that the 3rd for was essentially non-existent in the X5.
Love how you guys implemented value, reliability, dealership experience into your selections. Others like to review cars as if we live in a perfect world and these factors don't exist. Like there might be better option(s) in the vehicle's class, but when factoring the above into the equation, a car might come out on top bc it has better reliability + dealership treatment. Total package matters.
Watching this video with a cup of coffee in the morning is the best Christmas gift Savagegeese could have given me. You guys are the best

What a great review of the year. I’m glad to see some reasonable choices and glad to see some surprises. Looking forward to another great year with my favorite car reviewers 🎉🎉
I still remember finding this channel in 2013 after buying a frs and trying to find things to do to it. It’s been a journey watching it get to this point
Thanks SG for another amazing year of car content. Truly the best out there
Great list. I appreciate that you factor in reliability and ownership experience.
Great video, loved it! Proud owner of a Civic Si based partly on your reviews of it.
Best automotive CZcams video of the year...this one: 32 minutes of pure enjoyment. Thanks, guys!
Always worth my time, guys. Thanks and happy new year.
In Canada, the Elantra N is $40,000…the GR86 is $36,500…the Si is $37,000…so I bought the poverty spec WRX base for $33,000. After 2,200kms, I am thinking it’s an incredible bargain compared to these. Loving it. Heck it’s even within the regular Civic and Corolla price range…
Agreed
I just test drove the WRX and fell in love with it, I had more fun in it than i did in the new GTI and Integra. I think it deserves an honorable honorable mention since it's the only sporty car with AWD for under $40k with a manual.
@@savagegeese how viable is a aftermarket of communciative steering that isnt all that hard to use in parking for at least car that arnt heavy, to give confidence on how close to grip limit car is at for minimal braking and smoother steering, for longveity of tires, brakes, battery, electricity, fuel, lubrication, etc. best MOTORing offical has a video on prius trd in japan, much stiffer chassis, sway bar, multi link rear, less weight, no power upgrade. maybe its worth gutting out the inside decorations, infotainment, door window motors (fixed position windows), anti NVH material reduction because its only illegal for a driver to have covering ears, offfice chair gel cushions can be usedbeyond the car too without paying for extra ones built into the car, etc. gordon murray istream seats are suppsoed ot be 30 percent less weight but i think it was a design their selling not actual seats, you say type r seats are exceptionaly good acorss all prices.
I also ended up with a base model 6 speed 22 wrx because they were available and not marked up. It's a great car minus the mpg
@@HarryTwatter I heard the real world mpg isn't as bad as the EPA rating though, is it not?

Great video to cap off another amazing year of content from SavageGeese. Thank you for your passion for automobiles. Your videos give all of us who follow you so much enjoyment. I love the LOVE for the Acura MDX type S. As someone who has owned a cayenne s, and an X5 50I i continue to rave about the MDX type S to anyone that will listen. I bought it for my wife for the three rows and find myself making excuses to drive it any chance i can… the breadth of driving dynamics between modes is incredible. Sport + is a riot… and the sound system is incredible. Better than the Bowes Wilkins in our previous Volvo XC90. Only complaint would be 17 to 18mpg….
Best Performance Car of 2022 FOR THE MONEY: BMW m240i X-Drive. Available at MSRP, unlike many of the others. Geese tested it, liked it, and it should've been on their 2022 list. I have one, and it RIPS !!

Another great vid guys! Can’t wait to see more CTR and Z06 content next year.
I think this channel deserves to be the best car channel of the year. Although marks opinions are just opinions and sometimes he’s crazy, it’s pretty damn good
Great year review guys. By far the two best car videos this year are Hagerty’s Fastest Drag Race and your deep dive into the ZO6. Half way through I was thinking I don’t deserve to drive this marvel of engineering and by the end it was definitely “I have to have one!”
Lastly, if “Lucid doesn’t even know who we are” is true then they are missing out. If they believe in their product, they should welcome the kind of deep dive that you guys do. Keep up the great work.
Great video guys, I actually listed to the whole thing over my morning coffee. “For those of us that don’t have tunnel vision and just love cars.” Keep making content.
Thanks for all the great content in 2022, looking forward to more in 2023.
Any plans to start a weekly podcast? I could listen to you guys talk cars all day.
As someone who doesn't watch the economy cars / appliance cars reviews (but watch the fun cars), I still love hearing your guys opinion on it lol. Thanks for the recap!
What an amazing video. Here’s to another SavageGeese filled year!
Jacks business laugh is intoxicating
Having had both an FK8 Civic Type-R and an Elantra N with a DCT the Elantra N is a much more enjoyable daily driver. I enjoy the heated seats, sunroof, DCT more on a daily basis than I would the additional 5% performance the CTR has to offer. With the mark-ups on the new FL5 CTR the Elantra N offers better value.
The N is a better value without the markups.
Couldn’t help but notice on the G90 infotainment screen “Why do testicles move” I was stunned then lol’ed inside. Keep up the good work guys-enjoy your videos but this was a definite cherry on top.
Amazing. We need more videos like this! Learned so much. Thank you.
Savagegeese is mostly the reason I bought 2020 mazda 3 as my first car 3 years ago and I still love it today like I did on the first day (maybe even more now after small modifications)
how's the sound system?
@@roboticvenom1935 Bose speakers are better than standard system in any car that I’ve heard but obviously don’t compare to expensive luxury car speakers
I am very happy with those speakers and like how clear they sound but I believe they won’t be good for type of people that like to add +10 to the bass and crank the volume up
in Savagegeese mazda 3 review he talks a lot about the speakers in that car I suggest you watch it if you haven’t already
Enjoyable episode!! Totally agree with the GT4RS and Vette choices.

There are times when I skip long 20-30 minute videos on other channels. However, with you guys, I never find myself doing that. I love this channel, please please, keep it going and never change! Oh, Im a Corvette guy so the ending made me very happy!
You guys have to do this every year. A lot of work but always amazing.
You guys are the best. Understanding we all have different values on our car. I bought my 2022 f150 Tremor partly based on your review of the F150. I needed a truck I can beat up and run it off road a lot, it is perfect for that application. I love it though hate the honking it does all the time and the braking when backing up. I bought my wife the Macan as she wanted super fun but a small SUV. I was pushing her into the IX but she was not ready for the "weird" car yet.
I am REALLY interested in your take on the Lucid, hope you get into one.
Good rundown of the cars you drove this year that you liked best. It would be helpful to see a full list of the vehicles in the description, so we know what the field consisted of.
Good choice on the F-150, although you neglected to mention that it’s also available in EV form (Lightning), which is a really impressive vehicle that has some shortcomings in range (when towing non-aerodynamic trailers) but will serve a vast majority of truck owners that never tow large trailers over long distances and just use them as SUV and minivan replacements.
I’ve given you a lot of grief over your treatment of EVs, even to the point of implying you were out of touch, but your comments here about the sound as part of the driving experience helps me understand why you always appear so bored and apathetic when driving EVs.
I admit to having the same impression when driving an Ecoboost Mustang compared to my V8 GT. The Ecoboost engine had plenty of power for most situations, but it didn’t have that visceral growl that I associate with driving a Mustang. The reality, though, is that contemporary V8-powered Mustangs are much more powerful than anyone needs as a daily driver, and the higher variants deserve to be on a track so they can stretch their legs, much like the Corvette. Such cars are fun to ride but not practical for everyday use. My comment to the sales guy after getting out of the Ecoboost was that they might as well make it electric because the thrill of winding out a 4-banger is just not there. I might as well have the instant torque and other benefits of an EV, and that’s why EVs will rule the day in the very near future.
Next year’s video will be very different, I suspect!
EVs are junk and never going to work for the large majority of people. Extreme heavy-handed government policy is the only reason they exist at all.
@@kinglumpy6145 I've also found that all generalizations are always true. Fortunately for people like you, oil-burning cars are still being made. While the rest of the world makes the transition, you can assure yourself that your decision was the best one for you. The popularity of EVs around the world have very little to do with "extreme heavy-handed government policy" but you do you.
Outstanding! Happy for you with the Z06, Jack.
Production quality of this channel is insane and has doubled over the last 18 months
Civic Type R is one of those cars that you need to actually experience to appreciate, my DC2R I purchased years ago by fluke, I would never have purchased if I looked at the specs, the power and torque figures, fwd etc
But 1 drive and all of that is out of the window and have been hooked since, can't wait to drive the latest and probably the last ice type r

Im curious why the ct4 v blacking didn’t make it on your sport sedan list. It seemed like you guys preferred it over the ct5 in your reviews.

I totally agree with everything on the Mercedes EQ range 🧐 The only thing I want from EVs is to be normal cars that just happen to be EVs, I don't want all of the tech, the screens, etc. 🙄
