Still have no idea how they made this scene back in 1936 but it's more than ingenious.
If you used the conveyor belt along those paths around the gears. You could clip yourself to it and then be lead through and back out, then line the exposed areas so no shoes or clothes get caught on the way back and someone on a emergency stop button just in case.
