I remember my father used to play this on his record player on a Sunday evening and I loved it from the first time I heard it ! It's still as magical now as it was then ! !
I like the reactions of the kids when Peter started Puff the magic dragon. Also, I understand the reaction of one of the choir member' reaction on Blowin' in the Wind. This song is probably one of the most powerful symbol of how injustice to humanity can affect our way of life.
Yes, particularly the little girl who nearly launches herself out of her seat -:) The little boy (about 4) mouthing the words, not to mention some of the parents (not to mention other adults without accompanying child) singing along without a frown. What poisoned minds we have developed since the 1970s, triggered by the mother of political correctness, Mary Whitehouse.
5:06 always hurts my heart. I am white, female and born about a decade too late to participate in Civil Rights. I’ve always been envious of those who “were there.”
I love this song from school leasons in music. this version my lovley teacher sang. it was so beautifull. i was falling in love for im. Ofecurse he never now it. He was our english teacher and we leaded the singinggroup. Becauce of other englishteachers our english is not great...
I remember watching this special on TV. Too bad that this post was stopped before showing the standing ovation that they received after finishing "Blowin In the Wind"
What a pity people (notably Mary White house) claimed that there were more sinister undetones to the song and eventually succeeded had it banned from broad cast. Of not coincidence that "Ed Stwart and later Tony Blackburns Saturay morning children's radio show "Junior Choice", was closed to "accommodate an older generation. Sad that our children are being robbed of their innocence even as early as the 1970s. Now we have somethingh considerably more sinister: Gangsta rap !
On a trip down memory lane... 2023, how life has changed
Peter, Paul and Mary were a favorite of mine starting in the early 1960s. I still get misty eyed listening to their performances.
At age 83 I remember the transition Peter sings of, at age 8.
Das ist einfach wunderschön, bezaubernd , ein Wunderland zum Träumen !!! Ich kann nicht glauben , daß es so etwas wunderschönes gibt !!!

Without his life long friend, Puff cannot be brave. Hit me hard.
I love this song
I would cry like a baby everytime I heard that song play with I was little.
Peter, Paul and Mary were (are) a gift to the world.

Use to sing this loverly old song at primary school back in Adelaide Australia.
such a wonderful songs the audience got mesmerised.
Especially the reaction of the little 4 or 5 year old girl about 10 seconds of the opening chords of the song and before even a word been spoken.
This special is timeless.
Timothy Wimmer I wish they would remaster this concert.
@@OlgaLevin that would be awesome
It is available on DVD and the sound and video quality are excellent.

DIE HYMNE FÜR ALT UND JUNG FÜR DIE EWIGKEIT
Captain oh Captain 🐙🐉
Timing. Driving to work. "The answer is blowing in the wind". Drove by an amusement park American flag blowing in the wind.🇺🇸
My mother in law would always sing me puff before she would put me to bed at night.
I finally told my wife to make her stop.
so wholesome
アメリカも少し古い、良き時代ですね!
Bob Dylan wrote blowin' in the wind, PP&M transcribed it to the world music folklore 🙂
Bob Dylan made a world hit of this, but I think it was written by 'Buffie St Marie!
@@donaldlomas8996 Nope, Peter made the song out of a poem written by Leonard Lipton. This was my first concert in 1963, I was 4. :-)

Peter paul
When they are in the chorus...I can hear what sounds like an accordian, am I hearing right?
