I've been snapping my bungees often so in this video we install the extra long Trav4 spec Pro Laces.
This definitely helped my knees and ankles coming from lace toe ties.

Pro laces for me. Love my custom set. Way faster than laces too

I’m still wondering what the debate is over bungees vs lace. The guy at the pro shop even said to use lace for proper post play. But I ain’t good enough for that haha

@@ovr40goalie lol I hear you. I'm just a beer league goalie. Honestly, it's all personal preference. I think the real benefits from bungees come from the stress relief in the ankles and knees and the speed in the dressing room. I agree that laces probably offer a better overall feel with the pad and probably better post integration, but I personally prefer the bungees

@@ovr40goalie You need that predictability. Bungee stuff has changing properties from period to period. Knowing that when you do X, Y happens is absolutely critical.

Hi from Quebec, Canada! I just turned 35 and last friday was my first time as a goalie after a defenseman career! The pads that i bough from a friend has the wax laces toe ties... i've tried it once and next friday i will be testing the bungee toe ties. Thanks for the advices... my knees will probably thank you.

Awesome! It's definitely a personal preference, but if you're planning on saving your knees and ankles, bungee I say is the way to go!

I wouldn't use anything from Trav, you'll get scored on heavily.

40 and your calling yourself an old man, not. I’m 62 and trying this goalie thing out 4 times a week. I’ve tried toe hooks, they pull the pad in too tight and didn’t give my skate the room to move in the butterfly. Back to laces with a knot that is about 2 inches to the knot at the skate. I am now going to try out the Brian’s toe ties but I’ll try anything that it is less stress on the hips and knees. Keep up the great vids, which I will be trying some of those push slides, one of my many goals.

Wow props to you for still going at 62! You should start a over60 goalie channel lol! Interestingly enough, I was about to retire from goalie not long ago and got a long lecture from a 60 year old that night which inspired me to keep going and even get this channel going. It’s always an inspiration to know guys are still playing at an older age.

Try no toes and adjust your boot strap. Yes, you need a strap.

Thanks I will try no toe ties/hooks. Will let you know what I discovered.

@@flhtru1464 I have the Brians toe ties on my ccm pads. They are simple and work great!

Well sadly our season wrapped up. I did try boot strap only, one of our D, who is 87 and skates like Paul Coffee even today, mentioned that I would need to pad up or in other words buy different pads if I wanted to go without toe ties. So I bought some Velcro straps from home creepo, fed them through the laces of the inside leg pad so the pad was now tighter to my leg, up a little higher, no toe ties. I like that so much I bought pads with Velcro strapping and a removable boot strap so I can play around with what feels right, Brian’s sub zero. Now the problem is that these slide so well, I end up 10 feet out of my crease.
