You are a realy great DAD !! Your son is so lucky to have a dad like you ! I never had a dad, everything i try to accomplish is million times harder alone than when you have someone besides you and supports you. Thank you for this wonderfull video.
Thank You my friend
Great Job, Thank you for being a Great Dad, and helping your son with his dreams. I would like to build one, as I live in a small town in Virginia, but I'm originally from Chicago. I tried starting one back in 1993, during the Mayor Daley years in Chicago. I went to City Hall and was rejected countless times. Now, in Chicago, you have Food Trucks everywhere. I'm back at square one, Hopefully soon I'll build one.
Yes, you must build one for sure. Let m know your progress my friend. Thanks for the comment :)
@@TheSeamster good day sir, I’m in grand rapids, Michigan I have a Chevy P-30 I’m am wandering how much you charge me to help me build out my truck?
seing the journey off someone else building a food truck really inspires me, i would really like to build my own food truck thanks for the great content!
You can do it and new videos up now :)
I appreciate what you are doing for the public and your videos are very informative. I have hopes to build my own catering trailer or truck and you made it that much easier thank you
This is great news and the sooner you start the better off you will be. At the least, start drawing up your plans of a truck and where you think everything will go. Once you do that, draw another showing water tanks, sinks, soap dispenser, paper towels, chemical storage area. The more you do now, the more you save yourself time. Remember to use that lined graph paper showing feet or inches. THE SEAMSTER
Thank for taking the time to make this video very informative and inspirational. Ill be doing this project by this summer .
Thank You Marco, You can do this and if I may suggest. Please start on the Application now. It will take a few months for the city or county to pass your Application before you start your build. Please check out my Food Application Video. THE SEAMSTER :)
I love your videos. Explained so clear
Thanks and there will be more in the future. The SEAMSTER
A TRUE 2X4 WHISPERER!

The much needed channel on CZcams! Thank you. !
Thank You for the comment my friend and I have watched and sub to your channel also. THE SEAMSTER
Thank you, good explained...
How did it go for you?
I was curious about how a food truck is built out of an ordinary delivery truck. I saw the movie Chef. Have you seen that? Love that film.
Anyways. I am enthralled! Subscribed. Watching all in this series!
I want to say I love how you are so supportive to your son.
Hello from NYC.

I just loved seeing your map of Detroit that excluded all of Canada🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Great father💯💯💯
Thanks for the comment my Friend. Sometimes you have to help them a little to get on track and figure out what to do.
Thank you for the video, I would use 2x2 for my wall thickness. The 2×4 seems a tad over the top
How did it go for you?
STFU ... woot!!! Love the acronym.
Mohamed Abdinur Yes I agree and more fun videos to come. The SEAMSTER
Bom amigão seu projeto aí parabéns

Thanks for watching and comment Celecia. Nothing is impossible when the word possible exists within it.
Excellent

Good job
Thanks for the comment. Just trying to help my son live his dream of one day owning his own restaurant in a tourist town.
Getting ready to build my own Pizza Truck!!
That is a big task and hope I can help with new videos up now.

How did it go?
Wow great job and your an awesome dad! 🤗👼 new Subbie
Gracias my friend for the comment and being a new subbie. Much more videos to come!!
Great video!!!! You are doing 4 windows in this awesome truck? What kind of truck did you get? I'm on the lookout and advice would help. Again, great work.
1989 Chevy P30, V8, Gas, Automatic. Should pay $2000-$2500 for a good solid truck. Only 3 windows, the one window side will be where sink and deep fryer will be. Didn't want window with hood and deep fryer. Stay on the look out for Part 5. I will show more in depth of the inside set up. Thanks for the comment my friend :)
Ok, we put the serving on drivers side because of events we do they shut down the streets for people to walk. I would suggest most do on passenger side because of side walk customers. The advise I give is, build your own truck and go with a simple menu of 4 main items. Example: Fancy Hot Dogs, Tator Tots, Fries, Chili Cheese Fries/Tots/Dogs, Cold Drinks, Ice Cream Klondikes, and MOST DEFINATELY "SLUSHIES". We made so much money in the past with SLUSHIES, blue raspberry and cheery. Have a back up slushie machine!!!!. Stay tuned my friend for Part 5 in 2 weeks :)
I love the sound effects at high speed lol
Thanks Mike for the Nice comment :) THE SEAMSTER
The Seamster I’m looking into building my own food trailer to operate in Dallas Tx but getting information on the specifications and city requirements from their website isn’t an easy task. I can find the necessary steps to starting my own food truck/trailer but not the construction requirements. One of the requirements is proof of manufacturer so I’m starting to think that maybe they don’t allow people to build their own trucks & trailers but that doesn’t seem right to me if the person is capable of building it to the proper specifications.
@@mikewiththebluecar Yes, the most important part is the application to build a food truck. Get as much information as you can and fill out paperwork and then submit. This normally takes a couple months to get approved just to build truck. Once approved, you will have another inspection showing you did what you were supposed to do and you took your Food Safety Course. THE SEAMSTER
The Seamster ahh I didn’t see an application to build a truck. Thanks I’ll definitely inquire about it. One thing that concerns me is they require me to submit scaled drawings of the trailer to be approved before I start construction. Did you have to do this and if so how detailed did the drawings have to be. I’m curious if they’re just requiring the layout of the equipment or if the drawings must include all the plumbing, gas, and electrical layouts as well.
@@mikewiththebluecar Yes, if you check out my Food Truck Application Video, I explain what you will need to do. Thanks for the comment and the Sub.
great video! looking to get started and was wondering what are all the tools you used to build the truck?
Hey and I normally post everything I use or u see it being used. Thanks and good luck.
Did you have to secure the divider wall to the ceiling or floor? Thank you
You dont have to, but highly suggest it. If not the wall would move easily when banged into. The SEAMSTER
I got a motorcycle 89 Ford 26 ft. I wanna do this. But the hood is too expensive. Can 8 not do everything table top n use reg kitchen vents for fairs n such
Yes
Hi. It’s good job man. Can I install the plywood directly on the aluminum panels of the truck instead putting too many 2x4 wood
yes you can but it may be not support heavy appliances on your counter? The SEAMSTER
What’s a good place to look for a box truck to do this with? I’m in Southeast Michigan, any ideas? I have a smoker on trailer (gas fired) and wanting to setup a mobile bbq truck.
I see them all the time in your area priced around $5000. They all went up in price for sure.
Oh on Facebook market place.
Where were you able to find the truck from? Having snags on sites that have them for sale.
Detroit. I see a lot of trucks for sale in the big cities but everyone raised the prices so much now.
Thank you sooo much for these how to videos. Your attitude and enthusiasm is awesome. I'd love your opinion on framing my 14ft camper for service windows. Where can I send you pics and additional info?
imtheseamster@gmail.com You CAN Do It!!!
Kevin Barton I seen pics and send close up pics of inside and outside the storm window. Normally the flange lip part of window faces out and window lock clips are inside to open it.
These are awesome awesome videos, but can I ask you, do you need to be approved by a city regulation in terms of space/size first?
I had to get approved by the County I live in 1st before I began my build. You might have city ordinance that you might fall under. But you will have to get approved 1st, please check out my Filling Out Application Video. THE SEAMSTER :)
i really wanted to use aluminum studs but you are using regular 2x4. I know i have seen people wood but i was afraid of fires because of the deep fryers i am using. What made you choose regular construction?
Ok, remember you can always use stainless metal behind deep fryers and wood the rest of it. Also, aluminum is a conductor for heat and will get very very hot. As long as you have the proper hood ventilation the heat should be at good temp.
Can you do the same if your box trucks body is fiberglass or do you need to do something different to make it more stable especially when installing the windows?
I would most def make it more stable. Because of the flex. Thanks and more to come
Good day sir I’m in grandrapids Michigan and I have a 1985 P-30. I’m wandering what it would cost to hire you to help build my truck out
Hello and I dont have time to wash my own car I am so busy. I hope these videos help you. Thanks
Just curious being a food truck owner too, but why did you put the serving window on the drivers side? That's going to limit where you can go severely
This truck is for carnival events and I do have another window on the other if needed by the sinks. Thanks
Does Michigan require a master plumber's sign-off and permits pulled before the inspection? In Kentucky they do.
Each county is different on what requirements needed. That is why I mention in my videos, if you are not educated in these areas, please have someone certified checking or doing it for you.
TIMMY 2X4
Dont they have to be done to specs and be checked out to make sure they are safe? My grandson wants to make one and he knows nothing or any skills to build one.
No but you must submit design for approval to health department
The wall you built as a divider behind the seats... how did you secure it to the truck walls and floor?
Thankyou :)
I just used stainless drywall 3 inch screws.
This may be a dumb question but I've never framed before. When you build the separation wall how do you secure the wood frame to the truck?
Ok, I should have explained this better and I still may in a future video. Once you build the frame. I made sure to know where the ceiling frame was to attach it to and I pre-drilled holes and used 3 inch Drywall Screws to fasten to it. Then for the floor and sides, that was the easy part. I pre-drilled small holes through the metal and fastened the frame all around. Kinda like I did with building the Window Frames. You will be surprised what Drywall Screws can go threw before they break or strip the top. Thanks for the comment my friend and stay tuned for more FOOD TRUCK videos :)
Saw your video, great job btw! I'm totally new at this. Any advise is greatly appreciated. My upblast fan has three wires, there's a green wire for grounding. Where do you ground that wire to?
Your main power wire should have a ground with it. Sorry for late reply. The SEAMSTER
How's is your son food truck business going? Awesome video btw.
Doc! All is good here, we had to stop the project due to the weather changing to snow early this year. We will begin Food Truck Videos in the next couple months. Thanks for watching and stay in touch. THE SEAMSTER
Seeking Help/ Info!!! I live in Michigan and want to start a STFU. Pop-up parking lot BBQ events.. I went to the local health department, they lead me to the plan review manual. Seeking guidance on the most time efficient/cost efficient way of starting out. TIA
Brother. Do you think its possible to just mount my window to the aluminum frame. Mine seems soiled and I just dont want to use up and space and lose width in my truck. If I can help it. And mine seems to be super strong. ?
Thats it! If it is strong enough to hold it. Remember the flex of the truck though.
@@TheSeamster thanks
How are you attaching the wood to the aluminum walls? (For the wall separator up front)
Sherize Bennett I screwed it to the floor and the upper roof support. Using stainless steel 3 inch screws. The SEAMSTER
The Seamster will that damage the floor.? I’ve was trying to watch carefully. I may have missed it but did you put plywood on the floor? I have viewed the videos a few times before we get started. I noticed you were careful about not piercing the walls and floors if it wasn’t necessary. I do lobe the block idea (you’re a rock star for that), and thank you so much for sharing the journey with you and your son. 😀
Sherize Bennett No damage if nice and tight. If you want you can apply constitution adhesive to help it hold better. I have more videos to come. The SEAMSTER
Wow that's great am planning my own business but in ship contener so what do you advice me ? Thank you.
makda la queen tekue Wow, I like the idea. Do it will be non moving. More like a lil restaurant. Big roomy and that space is needed. I have no suggestions but I like the idea. The SEAMSTER
Where you from? I noticed you said 3 1/2 hours down to Detroit. Which is exactly the same as me in Alpena lol. I'm about to embark on the same adventure of building my own truck from the bottom up. 🤙
Master Broshi I am across the state from you Manistee. The SEAMSTER
I have 2 food trucks in Alpena that my wife and I built. Get in touch with me. Wonnieweban2@yahoo.com
Hi... very good videos!
Thanks! I have a question: I came to Home Depot to buy a Yellow Enamel Oil based Paint like you recommended, and the Sales Person tells me It won’t work, that in less than 3 months it will start cracking down. Have you got to repaint any part of the Vehicle? I want to add some logos on the truck and having to re-paint and re-draw arts would not be good.
Please, let me know how has been your experience with the paint. I would appreciate it. Thank!
The Paint is still holding stronger than ever. The reason i bought the enamel was for long lasting. I just did a video of an extended bumper and it has been 1 year after we painted the truck. THE SEAMSTER
I’ve never done this before but I want turn a Luton box into a food trailer. Will this still apply
Tristan Henry I don’t see why not. The only thing to be aware of is the height off the ground to serve foods. Try not to be no higher than 2 ft 6 inches. Any higher would be hard off food. The SEAMSTER
im looking for a seamster t shirt to wear proudly while I sew canvas etc. You got any? Please send a link if so. all the best neal sw fla.(the other west cost)
Sorry Neal I don’t. We plan on moving to the VILLAGES this fall. Thanks
Party on villages
What did you use to attach the WOOD FRAME To the aluminum body
I used 3 inch Deck Screws for wood to floor and to frame. They are rust resistant and expensive. I used 3 inch drywall screws for wood on wood. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching and spread the word :)
How much would 1of these cost to build on the same exact truck
Johnny Williams I am not finished yet and adding as I go. I would figure $7500 with all appliances installed. Under $10000 for truck and everything is our goal. The SEAMSTER
And what did you use to "notch out" your 2x4 evenly?
I used the table saw. Simply raise you blade up all the way and put your guard close to the blade and it will shave it off nicely. THE SEAMSTER
Hola! great video. one more time, can you please help me? o m looking to change my windows for my coffee trailer is a phoenix 1968 camper and i need to replace front and back windows , i did call to home depot and lowes and they cannot help me, do you have any idea how or where i can get those windows? any help will be great for me.
thanks
Ok, I went online to home depot and lowes. Both have my windows made by Larsens. 55x36 or other sizes. I do not know why they told you they don't have them. I hope this helps you. Thank You again my friend for the comment :)
@@andrewmasty5037 Hi Andrew.. Thank yku for taking time .. Yes they tell me that i thought is because my camper is old . i really. Want to remove those windows and something better quality for my equipment.. Today i will go and take the trailer over and see if they find something ..
@@katejimenez4912 yes, you show them my truck with window :)
I have a question. We need blueprints to Building a food truck?
Depends on what state you are in, but I would say yes for all states except Puerto Rico?
@@TheSeamster im in Washington state, where can i get the blue print?
How long did this part of the process take you?
About 8 hrs
Can you show us the finished truck?
Imagination Apparel Yes it is coming and a new video will be out in the next couple days. Stay tuned. The SEAMSTER
Hi. Do I need to get city permit to build food truck? Thank you!
Yes you will need to be approved through your county health department.
Do you think hiring a contractor for this would be financially beneficial over buying it for 25k?
MICHELLE MARTIN if you could find a completed truck that is up to date on all inspections for $20,000 to $25,000 buy one and save yourself the wait time. The SEAMSTER
What size is the truck length wise?
veronica Garza ok the box where I am serving food is 14 feet long from the front wall behind seats to the back doors. The width is 7 feet outside walls. The truck length is 22 feet bumper to bumper. Thanks for watching and much more to come soon.
@@TheSeamster thank you so much can't wait to see 👍
