Love Mrs. Fay. She makes me think about my grandmother when she used to be in the kitchen.
I added a little curry to my flavors . Excellent !!
Thank you so much for this film. So special, social history in action. One senses that Fay is a master, not to be contradicted...just listen and learn. Your mother/daughter comedy act is hilarious. And, of course, the recipes produce marvellous results. Thanks again Philip.
I already bought my yams, so I will use them in your recipe. Anxious to taste Caribean spices. Thank you.

Hello: I'm eager to try this recipe, but can't find it on your website. What are the general proportions?
'Watered Down' 😆
Agree Mum, fish is a good idea. I have a lamb roasting right now. 😁
Actually in U.S. It's a vegetable that's used and called sweet potato but it's a "Yam". However, U.S. does also have a sweet potato with is lighter colored than the U.S. "Yam" and starchy in texture. But the "Yam" is more commonly used.
Thanks so much for this alternative!
+Tabitha Ragin what is most commonly available in supermarkets are potatoes not yams. Retailers started labeling potatoes as yams to differentiate two kinds of sweet potatoes (soft and firm). Yes it's very confusing. Yams have a bark-like skin and are not shaped like potatoes. In most cities you have to go to specialty food stores to find them.
Ok...understood. I live in Philadelphia & we have an awesome farmer's market in Reading Terminal, they always have both types. Also my family from the country so I knew both types :)
Thanks for the information!!!
I always tend to have these in a more Cajun style, but I'll be having dem the Carribbean/Jamaican way tonight. I may of got slightly carried away with the Cinnamon, though. 😅
Just curious how many sweet potatoes were used? I had trouble finding this recipe on the website.
+Letesha McKenzie The recipe calls for 3lbs of potatoes. You can find the correct link in the show notes now 😀
