- After passing your test there is a bewildering choice of bike out there. The one ares somewhat lacking though was A2 compliant adventure bikes. Well, now there is one, the Benelli TRK502. Is it any good? let's find out.
Hi Phil.
Great review - and finally an experienced bike driver who actually knows what he's talking about! I'we seen some scary sh..... on CZcams regarding reviews of TRK502 - ppl. that tend to "just LOVE" BMW R1200GS, Ducati Multistrada 1200 or Africa.... those types that can't get their head of the dark (censur).... their critics of TRK502 are mostly because they DONT drive the Benelli....or they think it's embarrassingly to drive a small 500ccm bike.....and finally plus they haven't done any really OFF-roading at all! Dont get me wrong.....my garage has the BMW R1200GS (and the K1600GT) - but my new TRK502 is just fun....and the "Go To Bike" if I ever had to drive real off-road through Mongolia or any rough places. It's such an easy bike - super simpel - and it goes like a champ with those 48HK! Even with those Benelli/GIVI Trekker Side & Topcases....it's really fantastic! End! :-)
Mr. Mosegaard thank you so much for the kind comment. CZcams can be a place if terrible misinformation, I try to be as unbiased as possible. For the record, my Tornado 900 has been excellent too, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this bike.
Good informative review - and nicely handled with the walkers and horses, too.
Gideon Nisbet thanks! Roads are to be enjoyed by everyone, a little respect goes a long way.
Hi Phil, great review. You should do a walk around of the bike and show some details.
This is what I was after! I sat on the higher spec 502 X today and was impressed. It's a lot of bike for the money and my lanky 6'3" self fits on it really well.
That said, as I walked out of the dealership, a V-Strom 650 was next to the door.....
Paddy Outback thanks dude, be brave, Japanese bikes are fantastic but there is a whole world out there.
Yep, thats the way we went for my wife, the V-Strom! Much, Much, Much better bike than the 502x!!!!
so 5 years on i see them at £6,300 ish , still a worthy price point
Absolutely, great middle weight bike
You can't go wrong with 500X,but the 502 is a real beauty..eye catcher with cool features.. concern is about dealer after sale service..pstrs and practically..
SoloRide ZX I've had no issues with my TRE900 which I purchased new, but it had covered less than 1800 miles when the warranty expired, so that wasn't really a surprise. Given my contact with CooperB Motorcycles in Northamptonshire I'd be optimistic that dealer backup should be no problem.
trk502x,502, honda cb500x and yamaha 660z tenere are the best adventure bikes for A2 imho
marty1997 I’d agree with that!
Between this and Honda CB500X,it take more then 2 month for me to choose either one.End up I choose this, same as your colour because of its look, better than CB500X.
Hope I not regret buying it when it come to parts...😅
Noor Azhar good to hear that people are looking at alternative choices , enjoy your bike, I'm sure it will give many years of good service.
What are the service intervals?
Hello Noor Azhar: I am also hesitating very much between the HondaCb500X and the TRK502. The benelli is terribly looking beautiful and attractive. Are you happy with your choice if you eventually bought it a couple of weeks ago ? Thanks ;)
Actually this bike is better sized than the Honda if you're the bigger type..However in my hometown sometimes the more well known brands normally have better after sales service and that is the key to it's success.Mind you I'm not saying the Trk502 or Benelli for that matter is a bad bike/maker.It's just they need to concentrate on this..
I hear only good words about this motorcycle. I think this will be my bike after 125cc
It would be a great choice
Nice review! a saving up for the 2020 model. A lot of bad words about its weigh and lack of refinement had almost scared me off this bike but I think I will go for it.
Thanks. Definitely try it, I'm a small guy at less than 80kg and had no issues with it at all.
I had two Red Tornado TRE 900's and a TnT1130...called Pandora...I would buy one of these.
Roadslogger good choices! I ride a TRE900 myself!
I feel this would be a great commuter with a bit fun at the weekend.
Thanks.
Absolutely!
best sounding a2 not restricted bike.
Nice review.. which one do u prefer? Trk or Leoncino?
Thanks. Hmmm, that's a good question. They are both good, I'd probably go with the leoncino, but there isn't much in it despite being such different bikes.
Good review. At a standstill, are your feet flat/balls of feet/tiptoes? Bit concerned that service intervals seem to be every 3000kms (1800 miles), correct me if I'm wrong. An extra expense, wonder how much they cost?
Great looking bike, designed by Italians, built in China. Hope it's reasonably durable.
Ride safe.
iniakpmarc28 hi, thanks! When I was riding it I was almost flat foot, and I'm 5' 7" - it's also got quite a low centre of gravity so it's quite manageable. I'd check on the service intervals- 3000km seems unusual, is check with a dealer.
Thanks for your help and advice.
Service Intervals is much more..... in fact - it's just like any other "big bikes" ie. Running in the bike first 1000km - replace Oil/Filter - Inspect the bike - then Inspect bike at 4000km - then Oil/filter at 7000km and so on.... next Oil/Filter at +7000km and on and on.... so pretty much like others! Although it's a 500ccm, it has a slightly lower service interval - but on the other hand - Maintenance Schedule & Service is DEAD easy! :-)
Thanks for that Phil. (I thought those service intervals were a bit close!). I shall probably trade in my Yam XVS 950 Midnight Star for the Benelli TRK 502 after a test ride. Ride safe mate.
Thanks for that, hm0 1234
Nice review sir.. how about the throttle response in all rev range? Is it accurate?
Thanks. I never noticed throttle response, so I'd have to say it was good enough to not get my attention. I certainly never noticed any flat spots or hesitation
@@PhilOsGarage alrite.. it's heavy on paper.. do u feel underpowered when in heavy traffic?
nice review buddy
Thanks! Really enjoyed the bike.
I really like this bike. Love at first sight but my concern is that it is Chinese (Keeway) .
Andrew A I wouldn't worry about it, plenty of high quality goods come out of China, such as Apple products, this felt really well put together.
@@PhilOsGarage Almost said the same thing. The TRK has been built with some good quality, not top end but not the usual Chinese cheap stuff.
Review of X is stil missing ;)
LostInSpace the Tornado? It was uploaded last week 😁
@@PhilOsGarage Not the Tornado, guessing you have a special person in your mind. Just created a new channel for my motorbike fashion. Did't see the X review, shame on me ;) Blame me rocketless...
@@PhilOsGarage yet uploaded ? Can' find it, even sorting is to newest.
did you ever get the 502X review?... there quite a number nowadays
czcams.com/video/dgI8lHYry3E/video.html
@@HLMM_KE I made my own ^^ I bought the X last year in march and drove about 25.000km. Nice bike !!
How much is its tork!!! Nm???
I'm 5.4 is it OK for me?
BaBa Subhash it may be a little tall, but it's quite possible that your dealer could lower it and cut the seat down. I'm only 3" taller than you and it was easy for me. Best bet is to try one if you can.
How bad are Chinese motorcycle
Pretty good now and getting better all the time. I have a video coming up fairly soon with an 11 year old Chinese 125 - it's far better than you would expect, with good reason. Much of it is the owner.
*Ducati multistrada
its heavy .. really heavy !!
210kgs.... it's heavy but there are heavier bikes. Still not too heavy not to ride and enjoy
