    6 years later, Mort Kamins became the first big winner on $ale of the Century...in fact, he just uploaded his final appearance, plus several episodes from his run in the 1983 Tournament of Champions!

    To me, there was absolutely no way he was going to stump the Spoilers because all those clues were too easy. The end result of whether you won or not was based on the answer you had to get past them. One example is getting The Big Mac passed them vs. The 1929 Stock Market Crash.

      @@patfreak97 Ray Winston, the only contestant that earned $0 in a Spoilers Round (The CIA) almost got the $5000 when the answer was Robert Louis Stevenson but he passed on a clue he should have given. The clue he gave was a dead giveaway (Had his famous work Treasure Island in it). Alan Lusher went up against the Spoilers 7 times and stumped them 3 times, making him the only undefeated champion with $20,500 (The winnings cap on CBS in 1976-1977 was $20,000).

      @F CZcams Idiots! Yeah someone uploaded that episode not too long ago. It was shortly after Ray Winston's stint. Right around then is when the Spoilers started to show personality. K.F was rubbing his hands and swiveling in his chair while not even blinking.

      @@sha11235 - Just another reason to hate the "straddling" format. If it was self-contained, then the show would always end with *Beat the Spoilers,* and they would have enough time to look at the remaining clues that were not used.
      PS - With the way this horrible Popeye round was going, I'm going to say Sweet Pea for clue #3, and Wimpy for clue #6.

    Alex Tribeck messed up on the first clue and said "23", but didn't the clue read "XIII" which is "13"???????

      The use of hand-held mics are commonplace on Mark Goodson-Bill Todman/Mark Goodson/Freemantle game shows. There were exceptions, of course.

      Blame the writers for not coming up with enough hard clues, or putting Popeye in the bonus round instead of the main game.

    I'm surprised that neither Mort or Doug figured out the answer "The Wizard of Oz" after the clue about Buddy Ebsen getting such a drastic reaction to the gray paint that he had to be put in an iron lung. That was a dead giveaway.

      +Scottwilkie18 He was also on $ale of the Century during the first season. He won the $95,000 cash-and-prize package and later after the first Tournament of Champions finale, Mort won almost a quarter of a million dollars in cash and prizes ($249,982 to be exact).

    No offense, but when I think of "Double Dare" I usually think of some of the most messiast, and incredibly crazy physical challenges and obstacle courses seen on Nickelodeon.

    yea this show didn't last, it was just too slow moving. I was 11 when it premiered I was a TPIR and Jokers Wild fan then.
