Love that while his mother was protecting him, he was protecting her. And yay for Uma AND Matthew Broderick in the audience.
The Uma and Matthew Broderick back and forth was GOLD! - Jess
@shoshanalewinfischer I hated the kind of relationship Donna had with her son. Way too odd. I really wished it was a cast member that killed him. It would have been more believable. Donna was a smart Producer. If they would have shown flashbackes that this behavior was typical for Donna then I could see it.
it was so believable tho. the whole season was about a mother's love for her son. especially the nanny scene too. @@cheri7054
Tobert's presence as a character was underwhelming, he was only a love interest... Jessee Williams deserves better!
The writers don’t want Mabel to find love yet it seems. Maybe when she turns 40.
@@ninaserina83 lololol
@@ninaserina83I hope he stays gone- still rooting for Theo
@@marinaalejos8947that's what I'm hoping for, too. Mabel, & Theo had such good chemistry in the Coney Island Episode, & in this season.
Donna admits to poisoning just to rid him of his role. If he was so bad in rehearsals he should have been fired.
Exactly! That's what I'm saying!!!! For a woman that's won 9 Tonys and been doing this for decades she easily could've just fired him or benched him. That's why he has an understudy. - Jess
@@MattandJessTV To me it seemed out of character to do something like this to another person. Seriously the writers couldn't have come up with something better then what we got out of Donna's character
I found it quite believable that Ben figured out Donna tried to kill him. His doctor told him he had rat poison in him and he knew the only thing he ate that day was the cookie from Donna. That with Donna telling him to do what he had to do to make himself happy from Bens point of view it’s a logical conclusion to come to. I think this season was a lot more cohesive then the last season, they was a lot less pointless tangents and the things that were more disconnected like Howard, Joy & Matthew Broderick's plot lines were very entertaining. Also I like the theatre setting because it connected all the suspects, everyone was connected to the musical and therefor we had a reason to see them all together.
The curtain call/ whoever was in a giant crustacean costume was definitely the funniest moment of the episode.
omg I was laughing at that too so much LOL! - Jess
One little Easter egg I think was intentional was when Ben told Cliff his Dr wanted Ben to help his daughter get into Dartmouth despite her low GPA and no extracurriculars, cliff responded with "as if". Feels like a reference to Clueless which Paul Rudd was in.
Yes!!! That absolutely had to be intentional and I loved it. 😃
This is why this show is just so awesome...Agreeing with all the "criticisms" you mentioned, it was still just so much fun and joy to watch! Uma & Matthew Broderick in the audience (w/ Matthew delivering what I agree were two of the best lines), Tobert as the human coat hanger, Martin Short singing on stage, just so many good moments and lines! This show just brings me "small j" joy (as Joy is tied up with Scott Bakula!:)) This was by no means the best season, but still so much to love ❤
I did love all the music scenes and all scenes with Oliver and Loretta. There was such chemistry there.
Poor Sazz!!!
I can't wait for season 4. First thought was that Chatles Haden Savage got shot and thats where the scene was going to blackout, leaving us on edge wondering if he died or not. Then we see it was Sazz that died. The thought on everyone's mind is Sazz was in the wrong place at the wrong time and someone is out to kill Charles. I see 2 scenarios: 1. Its a red herring and for some reason Sazz was the intended target ooooor 2. Someone is not only after Charles but perhaps the whole trio.
S/N: it cute how they put that Tobert and Loretta were going to LA gor work to explain their absence from the show.
Those 2 scenarios make sense! If they targeted the trio, there'd be lots of suspect here. Like Jan, Becky, Detective Kreps, Cinda, Teddy, or even Joy 😱
This episode was wild and so good. I was surprised that Tobert wasn’t involved in the murder. That was so weird. The musical was amazing to see put together on stage. I’m shocked by the ending. It felt that someone tried to kill Charles but it also felt like Charles killed Sazz.
I hadn't considered that latter angle! Who would want to kill Charles? That is the real, super-crazy question now... -Matt
"I was surprised that Tobert wasn’t involved in the murder." I wouldn't be sure.
@@winnyBlinkChugTopoooohhh interesting 😮
Oh God if Charles killed Sazz... I won't handle it well
@@MattandJessTVI thought of Jan or possibly Joy for either way on who killed Sazz or was trying to kill Charles
I honestly thought Cliff was too obvious and was hoping for a bigger twist. Once we learn about Donna, it was easier to figure that Cliff was the one who made the final kill at the elevator for the sake of his mother. I was hoping I was wrong and it was going to be Tobert. I just really wanted more of twist. I give the murder aspect a 7 out of 10 this season. The show this season was a 10 otherwise. The play itself was really good... I was more interested in that than the actual murder in this case. There were just so many great moments.. Steve Martin's patter song, Paul Rudd in the mirror, the stress pirouettes and just Meryl Streep. Still think we are not done with Tobert.. he didn't tell that elephant story for no good reason and that name is not coincidence.
I like that this "Charles" murder is back in the Arconia....and ties in one of our trio! I hope we will be back to diving into life and the residents of the Arconia:)
THA BASSOON MUSIC!! The bassoon music was lightly playing right before Sazz was shot.
Earlier this season Sazz told Charles that some ppl out there wished he had died instead of Ben. Sazz knew who was after Charles. That's what she wanted to talk about that's why she started writing. This definitely has to do with Jan. 100%
I'm with you on this !!
Yeaah, this occurs to me after I saw that scene
I have to slightly disagree about the Mabel romance part; she’s young and living in NYC, of course she should date! She doesn’t need to be alone and celibate to figure her life out, she can date without it being a committed relationship, because this is the time in her life to do all of this. The Tobert romance shows she can date without getting serious and still focus on her own goals. But early thought for S4, I do think the killer meant to kill Sazz; it may have been dark, but the show is clever enough that the person could’ve been following Sazz and saw her go to the apartment. They’ll spend the first few episodes trying to find out who hated Charles (with a Scott Bakula cameo!), but then it’ll come out to be something related to whatever Sazz wanted to talk Charles about, and that’s why someone wanted her dead. I’m excited for S4 because it gives the show the opportunity to focus back on the building tenants, who are a great cast of characters (ie S2 blackout episode)! Can’t wait! 😊
Sazz has said many times that others want to kill Charles. I do think the intent was to go after Charles
but she dated Tobert and didn't focus on her own goals. Casual dating is a waste of time when you're 30 bro
while that’s mostly true, there’s an annoyingly large pattern of media making women seem like they need to be in some sort of relationship in order to have meaning. like being single and independent is almost frowned upon sometimes. it feels misogynistic.
I can’t believe Matt clocked Cliff from Day 1! Impressive.
I really enjoyed the parallel drawn all season between Loretta/Dickie and Donna/Cliff. The whole theme of the season being a mother’s love for her son. A little eerie for me though, as this season’s airing actually spanned my maternity leave with my son!
Haha I was SO off on the motive but I'll take what I can get. That is a fun connection for you! This was a really fun season, and honestly it just makes me miss it now so much more. -Matt
Cliff didn’t push due to accident . The look on his face was pure evil. If it was an accident he would have broken down like Theo did with Zoe. Very disappointed in this ending.
Funnies moment, was when Oliver is trying to read the review and he has to subscribe, that was hiiiilariosu, I think it has happened to everyone and everyone can relate, jajajajajajajajaja.
I also feel like the fact that Ben's character was actually the triplets' father is hinting to something thats gonna come up eventually. Something in their long game. Also I feel like Tobert is going to become relevant again.
Jan is back! My favorite character is Sazz. I'm going to miss her. I was expecting more for the season finale for season 3. Looking forward to season 4.
I really feel confident we will see Jan again and I wouldn't at all be surprised if Sazz was going to warn Charles about something to do with Jan. The fact that the bullet came into his window tells me that there's a good chance it came from Jan's apartment or at the very least her side of the Arconia since her apartment faced Charles. I don't think it's her, but I think Jan will know something. - Jess
Wow I love Jess face when she got the murderer wrong all season and now it looks like season 4 will actually take place back at the hotel
I agree with Matt; I think we'll see Meryl at least one episode next season. I'm not sure about Robert Tobert; I feel like he'll be more of a text situation.
@harmonydesroches I think we're done seeing Meryl. The trio have a real serious case on their hands. Charles could be at risk. If the killer finds out Sazz was killed and not Charles he may have to go into hiding most of the season.
@@cheri7054
That's entirely possible. I figure if we do see her it would be more of a goodbye situation: We'd see her packing up to move to LA & then her and Oliver's goodbye.
@@harmonydesroches To me that would be a waste of time ti see a Goodbye. Charles no longer has a body double. The team will get right to business
I think Tobert is out and they set up Theo as her eventual real relationship
@@cheri7054 I'm not fully convinced we will see her, but I still think IF we do it'll be fairly brief to tie up an Oliver storyline.
Gosh I wish I could join your chat latter today!! As you can see below I have lots of thoughts!! I hope you don't mind that I posted several times. Anyway, the last (I think) I'll say is that two of my LOL moments was when Oliver said, "I've had 6 hearts attacks this season" & when Howard joined the cast on stage for the final bow.
Good job 👍🏼 Matt you rock!Season 4 bring it on!
And that is a wrap!!!!! Season 3 is done!
Haha I miss it already!!! -Matt
🎉 taking Ws all round. It always made sense it would be Donna and Cliff. Always suspect the less obvious. Cliffs physicality was my first clue and the 'mother protecting son' element.
Mabels lovers are always set up to look guilty....
Oscar
Alice
Tobert
Tobert owned an Apple laptop, they never are guilty...
Loved this season, so hilarious.
Sazz's "sensitive" news for Charles I thought was to do with Jan or Joy 🕵️♀️ 🔎.... can't wait 😀
I hope season 4 will be more like season 1. Also, does anyone wonder what happened to Winnie, Oliver's dog? Did she go live with Will or what happened to her, and did they ever find out who poisoned her? It wasn't Jan. Additionally, Lucy has been conspicuously missing in season 3. You would think she would have come to Charles's opening night. She's only mentioned by Joy in the first episode who says "that girl is a handful. Also, it almost felt like someone was trying to kill Charles this season. He was almost taken out by sandbags and we still don't know if he was purposely trapped in that room. It was also interesting to learn more about Uma and her kleptomania this season.... and I really hope Bakula is living in the penthouse in season 4... or Chevy Chase. It would literally be the Three Amigos in the elevator.
Wasn't the dog chewing on the furniture in the scenes where Oliver, Howard, and Jonathan were all-nighting the composing of the music?
@@dugferd2266yes, Winnie was in that scene.
They haven't said who poisoned Winnie, yet. She was in Season 3, but very briefly. Jerry said he dropped the sandbags.
Congratulations, Matt!
Thanks! -Matt
My favorite scene from the last episode is when we see Oliver coming unto the stage. The camera is on his cool wingtip leather shoes. What a cool opening #. The music was amazing. Anothe great musical/acting scene was at the Stizprobe and Loretta is singing For The Sake of the Child. The music gave me goosebumps. Then Loretta sees Dicky being taken away. Meryl's acting was incredible
Aren't you going to miss her? She's been SO good, I really hope that she at least comes back for an appearance of some sort in S4. -Matt
@@MattandJessTV Would be nice but I doubt it will happen.
I'm just hoping for one episode! -Matt
I LOVE the idea of having Scott Bakula on next season!
We needed to see more of Cliff, he is hilarious!!! The character is intriguing!
Death Rattle Dazzle needs to go to Broadway . Meryl Streep sang so beautifully!
Haha would you go and see it? I'd be inclined to. -Matt
As soon as Cliff was revealed I thought of you Matt!! Congrats on being right from the beginning :)
I hope they bring back the OMITB fan club next season. I don’t know why, but having the group sit outside the building, keeping track of the progression of the murders, gave structure to the episodes somehow. Also, regarding Charles and the shooting: what about Joy or Joy’s family? Maybe she has (mafia ?) brothers who are angry that Charles ruined her marriage prospects…?
Do you think we'd meet some of them? I am FULLY on board with bringing back the fan club -- I'd miss them! -Matt
There’s that throwaway joke where they’re talking about Scott Bakula and someone says “what about Jeff Bakula” so what if Scott Bakula is in the next season as Jeff Bakula😂
hahahaha it's possible! The creator of only murders and scott bakula are tight :) - Jess
I’m gonna miss listening to you both talk about this show! Maybe a season 4 prediction video? Either way thanks for the great fun content.
awww thanks! Hopefully there are more shows we cover coming up cause we have a ton of shows on the way including the show A Murder at the end of the world which has some only murders vibes! We did do a season 4 predictions live stream over at our Patreon two nights ago. :) - Jess

Yeah, there's an old saying that Matt should adopt: "The only time I was wrong, was when I thought I was wrong." LOL.
Loved the season finale I think it was much better than season 2. And that cliffhanger wow!! Wow!! I can’t wait for season 4 so I can see how this unfolds. 😊❤️❤️
When do you think we'll see it? I'm worried it's going to be a long while lol -Matt
I hope soon. I need to see how it all unfolds. But with the writers strike just ended, I don’t know when the 4th season will premiere. 😊❤️
For now I'm just hoping for the fall -- I'll be okay with that! -Matt
@@MattandJessTV yes I am fine hoping for the fall as well.
Matt, you were right, right from the start! Good for you!!! Like Jess, I've never been right lol such an accident tho! I actually felt sorry for Cliff. One of my favorite scenes was between Matthew Broderick & Uma....hysterical!!! And the coat rack scene.....hilarious! This was my favorite season for sure! Poor Sazz! I'm sure they are people out there who don't like Charles & held grudges all these years later but I do think the killer has something to do with Jan & Sazz wanted to warn him.
Yea, how much more of Sazz are we going to learn about? That's what I'm most excited to see! -Matt
I loved it . ❤️❤️❤️❤️
What if somebody is trying to kill all 3 podcasters?
Ooh, I just had a thought as Jess was talking. You're right, given the relationship between Sazz & Charles it doesn't make sense for her to date the woman who tried to kill him. What if Sazz suspected something so the relationship is all a rouze?! A keep your friends close & enemies closer type deal. She got close to Jan for info! She learned enough so she went to Charles to "talk about something sensitive". I don't think she was the target. I posted this to your Twitter... I think the target was Charles. She knew something so she volunteered to go get the wine to protect him (just in case). It all lines up!
The episode was amazing and I really liked your analysis, are you excited for season 4
Very much so! Do you think that Sazz was the real target? -Matt
@@MattandJessTVhi i don't think sazz was the real target, she got attacked however i believe the intended target was charles
Matt gets a huge win for Cliff right out of the gate! Matt’s respect for Jess and her convincing Tobert story was the best and ultimately had Matt question Cliff. Nobody else but Jess could have flipped Matt and even then… Matt couldn’t fully jump ship from Cliff! That’s what makes you guys the best!❤
Hahaha well Jess had some good point! It is weird that they waited so long on Cliff, just because I didn't think they would really get there to have it make sense in time. -Matt
I didn’t think it was Donna because at the beginning of the season Charles said something about it not being another woman. Ben figured it out because he was fasting and had only eaten the cookie, so where else would the poison come from. Knowing that, it wouldn’t take a great detective to figure out what happened. Donna did not want to replace Ben, she wanted to cancel the production because the whole play was a stinker.
Yay Matt I am happy you got your W. It was the first season I was able to speculate since I saw the last two seasons later on. It was a fun finale I am going to miss this show but I am glad it’s renewed. I think we’re going to have one episode in LA next season so we might see Loretta again. For an episode at least
I agree keep Mabel with Tolbert but no more love interests it’s gotten to crazy. I think the show planned for 5 season I can’t wait to speculate with you guys again next season
Well Matt and Jess, I will catch you later in the year with Fargo and hopefully Reacher Season 2. Have a wonderful October.
Glad you're going to be sticking with us for Fargo, not that far off it's up next month! :) - Jess
@@MattandJessTV Even though I havent seen the previous season you convinced me. If I like it I will go back and watch the previous seasons.
Have you watched True Detectives? I hear it similar to Fargo, is that true?
@jordibarguno Yeah it's really similar we love True detective! it's also similar in that every season is a different story so you can jump in on any season. The new True detective season is coming in January, we will be covering that too :) - Jess
@@MattandJessTV Seems like there is a lot to look forward to, 😉.
Keep up the good work.
Good ending! I had no idea! Congrats Matt on your win!!!
I'm a little relieved! I thought they were going to move the show to LA next season.
LOL! Did I hear an oboe playing when Sazz died? [I'm just kidding].
Yea, it just wouldn't work in LA! Isn't the show just better set in New York? -Matt
Once Ben knew Donna tried to poison him he should have made a quick exit to his penthouse to call police regarding the poisoning. So he creates this conflict right in front of Donna's son. Yes they're going to fight about it. If I were Ben's family I'd sue the Arconia for having an open elevator shaft. Anybody could slip and fall to their death
To be fair though Ben wasn't always the brightest bulb in the box, he even audibly asks Cliff "how do you call the police" thinking that maybe he has to WhatsApp them.
I’m glad to have avoided the spoilers all season. You totally get credit for guessing right, even if you had doubts. I’m just glad they didn’t go down the “Rent” route, and that she killed him, knowing it would boost ticket sales. Interested to see what they do this next season. I’m excited to see more of the Arconia. My curiosity is that they all had a love interest this season, and ended with out, or with them moving away. Could it be tied to one of them? I would be happy if they wrapped everything up in season 4. It lets them wrap the show on their own terms. I would also be happy if they went on another season or two.
First off, I don't know if it's mentioned in the Comments, but today it was announced that OMITB was picked up for Season 4. So, it's official.
I was one of those who a few weeks ago decided that Ben's death was probably an accident. I didn't have any insider info, but used the Sherlock Holmes examination/elimination method--on the motives. And, when I couldn't find any strategic motive (like Matt kept saying) I had to settle on a spur-of-the-moment reason for Ben's death. And, given the broken elevator, that led me to Ben dying by accident. I never settled on "who" was with him; but, in some ways it didn't matter. Ben could have been arguing with any number of people--he was a dick.
I believe that if Donna and Cliff tell the truth (as they did in the last episode) to the police, and get good attorneys (which they can afford) NEITHER of them will go to jail. Donna is guilty of poisoning Ben--but since she's dying from cancer, the judge won't sentence her to jail time--if it even gets to court. Cliff has a very strong case for "accidental homicide" if he's charged with that. He clearly left the scene and lied to the police, but those are probation sentences--with mental health treatments. Again, an expensive attorney can make that happen.
Regarding next season, and Sazz's murder: I mostly agree with Matt that if Sazz was the intended victim, how would the shooter know that it was her coming into Charles' apartment? It's a stretch--but a possibility that we shouldn't completely disregard.
I'm hoping that Meryl and Jessie appear for at least a couple of episodes. Remember there were two episodes this season that Meryl was not in--so, if the producers signed her for 10 episodes, she still has two left. Consider me Hopeful.
Bottom line: because I enjoyed the singing so much (especially Steve's "Pickwick Triplets) I'm ranking this as the Best season. Season 1 was an "origin" season, and S2 had a few character plot points that were weak. So, again using the process of elimination, S3 is my fav. [Sherlock Holmes would be so proud of me.]
Thanks for hosting this CZcams and Patreon forums--I can't make the Live Patreon Broadcast today, but am sure it will be great.
Thank you Derek! We really appreciate your support so much :). I think that this would be #2 overall, just because I've got that nostalgia for season 1.
And I agree with you about Sazz in particular -- I could see it as a twist, but they would have to REALLY know what she looks like. Though, that would be a part of the fun if the killer is the one person who could tell them apart. Really fun season to discuss! -Matt
The killing makes no sense to me. Not only does Donna's poisoning make no sense, given her career. But Cliff could have easily been like, okay maybe someone else put the poison on the cookie? Let me VERIFY first before murdering someone??
Haha yea wouldn't that be nice? -Matt
As I posted on your chan an few weeks ago, yes I had (unfortunately) seen the spoiler. For those that dont know, the spoiler was they released the CD soundtrack for OMITB Season 3, and one of the last tracks was titled "It was a mistake mom". So, from that you could know it was either going to be Cliff or Dickie, and then it was clear it wasnt Dickie, so the answer obviously became Cliff. It was then just a matter of "how is this going to be an accident Cliff is responsible for". And I just came up with something that would attempt to match that as others did.
And Yes....Matt does get credit for Cliff going all the way back to Week 1 or 2 in my book.
I agree with Jess....this is not a "murder", and therefore I call BS on this entire season, on the writers and they defiantly were lazy this year. Compared to Season 1, Season 3 is a "stinkeroony" as Ben would say.
Im also uncomfortable with the ending, because the cops still dont have any proof of how Ben died. I guess we are to assume Cliff is going to be charged and will plead guilty. But if I were his defense attorney, I would tell him to plead not guilty and let the DA prove it. Since there is none, other than a Cliff confession, there is plenty of room for reasonable doubt.
Lets not forget the other lazy mistakes this season. The finger tattoos on Ben, which they got wrong multiple times. When Ben is falling to his death, he is not holding a hankie. These are major mistakes for a show that seemed to pay incredible attention to details.
They make the plot about a musical, and have Broderick and Mel Brooks make cameos....a too obvious nod to "The Producers", who it turns out are the "killers"
When both the Trio and Cops were investigating,. why didnt anyone ever investigate at the Arconia!? That is where Ben died! Wouldnt have it been logical to start where the death occurred and then work back. The Trio never focused on the time from the after party to Bens death at the Arconia. Shouldnt they have started there and then tried to trace the locations/actions of everyone who was at the party from the time they arrived until Ben was found dead?
And it turns out Mabel actually fell for Tobert, and it wasnt that she was using her time with him as part of her investigation.
Hopefully, next season they will get back to what makes this show great and its going to be more like Season 1 and have an actual murder, with a motive and the who, how, why and why now.
the good thing is -this took place in NYC. Both Donna and Cliff will be out on bail in no time!! 😂
We also have a loose end from season 1 with the note on Jan's door. Based on what you're saying about Sazz having a relationship with Jan being so unnatural... maybe Sazz got with Jan in some type of way to protect Charles. We also have the loose end of Tim Kono's phone never being submitted. I get the feeling that that ce from higher up than Kreps.
It almost didn't even look like it was Charles in the dark apartment near the end before he was shot in the shoulder to when it then showed Sazz wonder if that was Charles who walked into the apartment.
Perhaps the sensitive discussion Sazz was going to have with Charles could have involved Joy. Then when Charles got the text from Joy Sazz thought to not mention it and what are the odds that right after the Scott Bacula text is just before Charles was supposed to go to the apartment. Wonder if it had something to do with Scott and my partner was thinking that Joy mentioning he's back was a warning to help Charles.
Regarding Charles saying “stay away from her” I thought in a later episode Charles said he told Ben that about Loretta, because it was right after Ben & Loretta got into it on the lighthouse.
I think it was referenced too, but wasn't the hype so much more than the result? -Matt
I liked this season. I thought they blended the comedy well with the mystery so it was much more like season 1 than season 2 (where there were a few episodes that lacked comedy and felt pretty dry). It was obviously not the mother when she was confessing. I didn't even think it was her before that and always believed it was the son once it was clear the cookie was poisoned. In terms of who killed Sazz I'm not sure yet but I believe the killer was targeting Charles and killed Sazz by mistake when she went up to Charles's apartment looking like Charles. Although Sazz did have something urgent to speak to Charles about so there is that too...
I miss this season already! I think that urgent conversation is probably the part of the story that is the most interesting right now, and really the only reason that Sazz may have been the target. -Matt
100% on all of this. Agree with Jess on Donna…a stretch to believe she’s poison Ben rather than pull his performance, Matt agree that this is a bit flimsy but less than Season 2…and I wish we had more Cliff!
Am I happy about the killers? No. Am I happy about the motive? Absolutely not. Will this stop me from watching season 4? Heck no 😂😂😂 season 1 had the best twist & killer. There were clues from the first scene or when they discovered the bassoon cleaner 😔. My mom who has watched this season said she was shocked. I seriously was expecting more tho lol.
Loved season 3 can not wait for season 4. Loved queen Salena
What do you think season 4 should have in store for her? -Matt
Did you just say Mr Dick Van Dyke!? Is he on this show. I enjoy the concept and stars on this show, but have NEVER watched this show yet 😢n Matt and Jess please tell me why I should watch and binge past seasons of this show because I have so many shows I'm invested in, and I keep coming back to this t.v. show and when I just now clicked on this video and heard you say Mr. Van Dyke!!! I had to write you. Okay I'm through "senior citizen fan girling" lol😂
If you really love murder mysteries or Steve Martin and Martin Short, you will love it! It's really fun and has great characters. I referenced Dick Van Dyke just because I used to watch a lot of Diagnosis Murder when it was on ... I don't know if he'd ever show up, but he would be great in this world! -Matt
@@MattandJessTV YES Mr Van Dyke would be awesome and a nod to the old murder mystery shows. Okay, I'll give it a shot starting from the beginning and let you guys know what I think 👏
And now we know dickie knew it all along that Loretta was his mom
I think this killer in season 4 will be a professional killer. Seemed like the killer knew what he was doing. Scary for sure.
I think you definitely have to be if you are going to make that shot! -Matt
@@MattandJessTV In season 2 one of the podcast fans was talking about the 6th street killer or something to that effect that maybe next season is all about that killer. I do think Sazz knew this was coming. She went back into Charles apartment alone to take the fall. Guess we have to wait a year though
I loved Diagnosis Murder 😂
Haha glad I'm not alone! -Matt
@MattandJessTV Exciting news: they've just announced that Scott Bakula is going to be in a Broadway musical for a limited run, January-February. Seems perfect for filming OMITB in New York after the end of the SAG strike. Coincidence?
That is exciting news! He might be able to do it after his run or before his run, but if he's on Broadway he's on stage like 8 performances a week so I don't think he can film at the same time. That would be really difficult. My theory on Scott coming in as a rival for Charles might be coming true! The crime show silver foxes fight!! :) - Jess
@@MattandJessTV Oh, I know. I'm referring to before or after the run. I strongly suspect Jesse Williams had a similar arrangement for OMITB Season 3 and his late 2022/early 2023 run in the play Take Me Out.
@@Wildcat612 I feel really strongly scott will be on next season. they dropped his name so many times and the showrunner has worked with him before and they are friends :) - Jess
{ETA: I didn't read ANY spoilers, I promise! If I had, I wouldn't have posted.}
This season's focus on the play is exactly why I was so stuck on Donna & Cliff as the killers. The more you talked about motive the more I tried to come up with one. To me, it only made sense for Cliff to finish the job if he was protecting his mom. Why would he need to protect her? Because SHE tried to kill Ben first. But why? You had mentioned so many times (including this video) that she's the producer; she could've just fired him. That's why I thought perhaps she didn't mean to kill him, hence using only a little poison.
Yes Matt. You get credit for a "W". Yay!!!
Haha I'll take it! -Matt
why is the broken elevator doesn't have any barrier or why the door is not closed? Anyone can easily fell. Also if it is broken why did it open on the first episode to show the body of Ben?
Maybe the broken elevator has many stages of being broken? Honestly, I don't know a lot about them so I'm probably not the best person to ask lol -Matt
Okay couple things. I really am shocked there wasn’t some Tobert thing-at least that he was working with Cinda. Also a little shocked with Dickey being cut and dry. Mabel was on the other side of the curtain and I thought it would’ve been a good time to overhear something she wasn’t suppose to.
NOW- the ending: could it really be teddy Dimas as the mastermind ? He hired Jan to seduce Tim?? That really would be something.
Re: Season 4 being the final seaason.
I don’t think that S4 is going to be the show’s last because everything John Hoffman has said about this series indicates that he either has a 5 season plan, or wants to keep things going for however long they can keep it fresh for (he specifically mentioned a Hardy Boys-type run).
That being said, I’ve heard through the grapevine that Selena, Steve and Marty signed 4 season deals at the start of the series, so if one of them isn’t willing to sign on for additional seasons, this could be the end.
THAT being said, I’ve also heard that Hulu wants a lot more Only Murders (movies, spin offs, etc.) and the wording was very vague but it’s possible that after the series ends, we could occasionally get 90-minute movies on Hulu every year or two, which I think would be a genius idea. They could even mess around with the setting, maybe one on a cruise ship or in the building across the street.
Obviously, take all of this with a grain of salt, but seeing the huge viewership numbers OMITB has pulled this season (higher than S1 and S2 which is extremely unusual for streaming shows), it’s very likely that Hulu is determined to keep this going for as long as possible.
Oh Steve and Martin, Selena, you glorious bastards
I’m personally hoping/thinking that Tobert is part of a larger story and this season is his set up, that he is something to do with the next murder and Cinda, calling back to the #bloodymabel podcast thing! 🤔
Same. I was disappointed that he was not the killer, but I feel like we met him this season for a reason ..and still think his name is a clue of something further with his character.. like a twin brother named Robert ... who we may see in season 4. Who knows?
I do think Cinda appeared for a reason too! There’s more to Tobert & Mabel’s relationship (hopefully!). Now I have to spend a year fantasising about a Jan & Joy team up to murder Charles with the help of Cinda and Tobert 🤣
Scott Bakula totally needs to be in next season!!
100%! I was thinking about the idea of scott coming in as himself as a network rival to brazzos and maybe a few other appearances from other silver haired foxes from crime procedurals like mark Harmon. A bunch of silver haired crime show rivals from back in the day with Charles!- Jess
I'm a little disappointed with the ending, i was expecting a better finale! I didnt like that it turned out to be cliff :/ specially with how good this whole season has been i thought it wouldve been a juicier ending 😭😭
Now we know what the season 4 mystery is
Now when are we going to see it? That's the real question. -Matt
@@MattandJessTV it depends on how long it takes to write episodes and to see which guest stars they will get for season 4
@@MattandJessTV I feel like season 4 will come at the same time as it always done the past 3 seasons by the summer late fall
Matt gets the w. I actually thought the performances in this were perfect. The writing not exactly. I am very happy we are going back to the building. I’m actually excited it’s Zaz because we will get to see what her life was really like
Yea and there is so much that we don't know about her already! -Matt
I suspected them mid-season but then moved on, because why not just fire him, Donna? No need to poison the guy. Then pull the play until it can get reworked. Makes more sense if she didn't mean to murder him. But... poison? Cliff had good motive after all!
U guys were both right Jess was right about the 2 murderers and Matt was right about cliff the problem I have there were not that many clues leading to them all season except for these final 3 episodes kind of what they did with poppy last season
Every season finale the show tricks us as if Charles had been killed. I wonder if the final season (which who known when) ends by Charles actually dying...
I’m glad no one saw it coming! Solid ended
OMG! Sue Sylvester got shot?! I am very sad of the last ending, but excited of Season 4 ❤😢❤😢❤
I feel like whoever killed sazz didn’t mean to they thought it was Charles and who knows why they want him dead
Oh 100%! They wanted Charles dead. any early guesses? - Jess
@@MattandJessTV idk there are not that many people that we have met yet that want Charles dead
@@MattandJessTV I could see Meryl Streep and Jesse Williams both come back for season 4 and whoever shot Jane Lynch character hopefully it isn’t a disappointment like the last 2 seasons have done
@@MattandJessTV we don’t know where Mabel is going to live in season 4 we didn’t get that answer in the season finale
I got a lot of W's this season Ben talking to the cookies, writing F ing pig on the mirror but calling Cliff as the murderer from episode 1 is the best. Matt ,always believe in your instincts.
Haha valuable lessons were learned this season; congrats on your victories! -Matt
Can you guys tell me the winning lottery numbers? 😂 You nailed everything from the get-go.
I’m sure we won’t meet the actual suspects until next season, but the most obvious person is Joy (or her mom, who sent the dress and seems invested in their marriage…), but that’s probably too similar to Jan. I’m kinda hoping season 4 will be the last season, and if it is I would love if the killer is Howard (although maybe that would be problematic after Cliff)
hahahaha Matt is a pretty lucky guy, but he pulled that cliff win out of no where LOL!
I would love if the killer next season was scott bakula or someone along those lines. if the intended person was charles it could be quite funny if it's a rival like Scott or Mark Harmon or another silver haired fox that would've been in competition with a rival bazzos type show. - Jess
Now that I look back on all the episodes a second and 3 rd time their was no real way to know whodunit until the last episode. All the other things were red herrings.Yes, people thought it was Cliff and Donna put no clear evidence until was saw episodes related to The Producers.
And was the producers itself even that clear? I still wonder, mostly because the motives here are so very different than they were. -Matt
The way I got the mystery right😁😁😁 (I PROMISE I SAW NO SPOILERS✋️) like I didn't even know there were actual spoilers for this show
Cliff was a hard solve until episode 7
I wish Donna hadn't been revealed before the finale. It hurt the conclusion
Cliff hated being called boy and Ben called phony I hate name calling
Soooooooo Ben and Cliff both lived at the Arconia?
There were no clues for Cliff.
I agree. This season didn't have enough clues for the audience to truly put on their detective caps. - Jess
Matt finally picked the killer right it took 3 seasons
LOL yea, and it also only took me bailing on it midway through! -Matt
@@MattandJessTV but the cliff thing there were not that many hints that it was him throughout the season
That’s classic Matt bailing on ur original pick halfway thru
I think Sazz was killed by Joy. Scott, someone from Brassos or Charles' past. But so far my most speculated is Matthew Broderick, because that would be hilarious. Him and Uma were seen during the show and maybe he went over to her place setup a line of sight and boom.
Oh I feel really confident that Scott Bakula will be some how involved in next season, he's gotta be with all the jokes about him and he and the showrunner are friends. - Jess
For a minute I thought Oliver and Mabel were going to go to LA and then Charles follows because his life is in danger and they stuck together in LA to solve the murder …
Also-the only thing I was right about was that the death wasn’t exactly intentional, and that the doors opened unexpectedly.
I think it was Tobert or Matthew Broderick
Okay I love you Matt, but I'm sorry, I can't give you a "W". You 100% jumped off the Cliff ship. It's documented. Take your "L" and own it man. (No shade; I'm half kidding, can't help myself and my competitive nature, gotta call em like I sees em👀) and once again I LOVE YOU GUYS! Keep up the great work!👏
Haha and you should! I was kicking myself all morning when it was actually revealed it was him and I could have been there all season. (I love self-deprecating humor so the fact that I bailed on the theory before the finale honestly just makes it hilarious.) We appreciate you watching SO much! -Matt
I said two murders Dickie and Cliff but I really thought that Elephant story was going to have something to do with the case. I really thought Tobert recorded something. He was just in the season for no reason and what the hell happened to Theo🥴
I sure hope we get more of him next season! Mabel still seems to be living with him, right? -Matt
We did have 4 killers across three seasons one is cliff
It's true but we've had a female killer every single season so for me, I'd like to see something different next time around. - Jess
@@MattandJessTV that is true and hopefully season 4 we get to see the podcast more then we did this season and hopefully they find a way for Mabel to still be part of the building depending on if they do some sort of time jump next season
That whole cinda storyline that they introduced in the near beginning of the season it seemed like it got dropped since it didn’t get mentioned again
Matt got a w
I'll take them were I can! -Matt
Yeah I thought it was not a very good ending it was too obvious that it would’ve been Cliff and Donna if you only look at the Producer clue it was the only thing that pointed to them being the killers. The final episode basically just put all the pieces we didn’t get because it would’ve been very obvious who it was. Additionally what business/apartment building would leave an elevator shaft door open when it’s out of order that a huge liability. Also why didn’t the police see Cliff coming down the elevator alone right around the time Ben was found on the security camera of the hotel. Which after 2 Murders it should have. I still think the 2nd season was way better and a lot more of a mystery than this season. Hopefully season 4 will get back.
