  • The remaining parts of the main runway and taxiways of RAF Clifton, which saw operation during WWII, and was the site for dismantling a big proportion of the Halifax Bombers at the war's end. Go to the Elvington Air Museum to see a working instance of a remaining Halifax (They have a Gloster Meteor too: my Dad worked on those during his National Service).
You get to this location by crossing the York Ring Road at the Tesco roundabout, hopping over a barbed wire fence, and beating through trees and brambles. It wouldn't pass the Risk Assessment for any club outing.
Sorry if some of the video is a bit 'herky-jerky': I'm still learning, and I was trying to edit it to gradually slow down and come to a freeze frame.
Choosing 'incidental' music for CZcams videos is a fraught experience: vast quantities of what's out there has some ludicrous copyright extending for 95 years beyond the death of the last claimant to the Artist's and or Composer's estate. I wanted to set this to Glenn Miller's 'String of Pearls' but 80 years after the original Recording, and GMs death, it is still under Copyright. So I picked a classical piece from Musopen: a version of Schubert's 8th that is free to use.
