With the variable pitch dual props and the two speed transmission - these motors were made for the heavy Center Console market. Holeshot *and* top end on a 30,000 pound boat is no small trick

I can’t wait to see some engines that have the kind of horsepower that block was designed to produce. I also think it’s a travesty they didn’t think to pipe the exhaust of a V-12 underwater. It kind of stands out a lot more shooting straight out the back and won’t make any accidental outboard fans of greenies.

I just got the 420 Outrage with the 600s. Does this model have a generator in it? My generator is absolutely a head killer. It creates a vibration at the helm that gave everyone severe headaches.
Why is the water brown? Great boat. I had a BW 27' 1988.
It was tested on Mercury's test facility in Florida. Lakes in that area are brown due to the Tannin (leaves and debris in the water that act similar to tea leaves) staining the water brown.
Mercury is the best, bar none!

I have yet to see anyone give a real world example of these engines in play out in the ocean or in fishing conditions with billfish. Lake conditions are great for testing but most people with this size boat are not using them on lakes.
True, but they’ve certainly wringed their bloody necks for tens of thousands of hours both in Fond-du-Lac test cells and at Lake X.

Great machine by the specs - but why did they made it so ugly? So angled! No good shape, no stylish design, just a simple square-cut as a shoe box
