The notification bell never works for me 🥲, that was a nice book haul.
There is a common saying in Arabic said in a funny way, roughly translated to "spend what's in your pocket and more would just come from nowhere" (اصرف ما في الجيب يأتيك ما في الغيب).
The book about the Rubaiyat reminded me how one of my goals is to learn Farsi, Urdu and hopefully one or two African languages, because since the last two to three years I've been thinking how because English is my foreign language I've viewed the world through a very 'western' lens and I know there is a lot of beautiful literature, poetry, philosophy and films that I want to experience and understand without translation/subtitles.

Honestly, I’m struggling with the notification bell as well.
Thank you for sharing that quote. I do feel we end up missing up on a lot of things because of the language barrier. All the best with the language learning 👍

Hi Reesha, I loved this video. You got some great books they sound so good. I picked up the book The Arabian Nights at a charity book sale the year before last but have yet to read it. I have also bought a few books this year, mainly for university. I bought Paradise Lost by John Milton, The Stranger by Albert Camus and Two Women In One by Nawal El- Saadawi. I also bought Our Of The Shadows byL.J Saunders, it's to do with Indigenous Australians & their fight for Native Totle& I was lucky to get a signed copy. The last book I bought was a Vintage Classic, The Diary Of A Nobody by George and Weedon Grossmith. I have also been interested in reading Plato, maybe we can discuss his work sometime?

So sorry, I 've just realized I 've made a very errors in my comment, please forgive me. I meant Native Title with relation to the Indigenous book, not totle.

You’ve got some good stuff there. Talking about Plato would be fun, hope I get to it soon. I was looking for some one on booktube who can shed some light on his work before I jump in blindly, lol

Wow, I was in Lee High Road only the other day, coincidentally to walk up to Blackheath to visit the secondhand bookshop there. I didn't realise I was so close to Halcyon Books. I know where I'll be going next week! William Morris was also a south Londoner for a while and you can visit his house, the Red House, in Bexleyheath.

There is a Japanese word 'tsundoku' that has found its way into the English language. The word means the practice of buying a lot of books and keeping them in a pile because you intend to read them but have not done so yet. It sounds like you may have a case of 'tsundoku'. I'm also guilty of tsundoku!
