I went to law school in Delaware right outside of Philly and the best class I took was organized crime. The prof was the assistant US attorney who prosecuted all of the big Philly mob cases in late 80s and 90s. It was amazing. Personally, I never did any of the reading because you didn’t need to. It was just show up for an hour of mob story time. Like firsthand stuff you’re never gonna see or hear. So great

I had a class similar where the teacher set up a crime scene in the classroom. We had to figure out what happened in what order and write a report 😂. It was one of the best classes I've ever had.

I knew a few “guys” back in the day that were deeply involved in the life. It was clear that they operated in a general sense in a fashion as to NEVER attract any attention to themselves in ANY public situation. If they went out to eat a some high end restaurant, that bill was paid along with an extremely gracious tip. Always making very gracious contributions to local charitable organizations, but never over the top unless it was an obvious connection to them personally for very obvious reasons (like when a relative got cancer and there was a local fundraiser for the family of that relative, etc.). This was to basically firm up local allegiance from even those outside of the criminal activities. It definitely worked. None of those guys ever had any legal hassles to deal with of any significance.

Not even regular ppl. Needing to scrap 1100$ from this guy and the 700$ from that guy. And the Skipper is not answering and doesn't want to pay over the 700$. I mean, these guys are absolute retards. They also never saved or properly invested their earnings accordingly when younger. They are probably living comfortably. But, in my opinion, its not worth it. Whoever is in it already, they're vested and that's that. But young guys like the kid Dom is a dope. Hes young and there's a million ways to make money nowadays. You do not need the mob no more. Caponigro was brutally killed as was his brother in law and cousin Alfred Salerno whose believed to have been the actual shooter. Others in the Philadelphia Family who were involved in the killing of Bruno also paid for it with their lives such as capos Frank Sindone who was going to be the underboss of the new regime and his cousin John Sindone.

1985, I worked at 7UP distributors in Elkton,MD. The manager tells me " go out back and sort bottles, the big boss is comin' down from Philly, stay outta sight". So I'm out behind the building tossing bottles in barrels, with a joint in my mouth, when this helicopter lands 15 feet away. No warning. 3 guys get out and it's obvious 1 is a mafia boss, dressed to the nines, and the other 2 bodyguards. Boss comes over and asks my name. Then asks if I'm Italian. Yeah half, Moms name was Sellare. He pats me on the shoulder and says " Good kid" and they go inside. When they leave the managers are all pale and acting weird. Everyone was laid off, management was moving to Philly. Wonder if the made it.

It was Chin Gigante who made Nicky Scarfo the boss of Philly.
