      It depends, you'd need to score something that will either remain relevant, or will be relevant when you go to sell it. Plus you need to take the time to sell it, which could be less of a pay out depending on what you normally do with your time. I mean we're talking a slime profit margin (more than likely) at best, versus a very, very small cost to just buy a randomized plate.

    I really like the Irish reg plate system.
    “Year” - “County” - “Number”
    The year is the year of registration and since 2013 it also includes a 1 for January-June and a 2 for July-December.
    The county is the English abbreviation for the county it was registered in.
    The numbers are assigned in order. The first person to register a car in that county that year gets “1”, the second person gets “2” and so on.
    A random reg plate would look something like: “181-D-49267”
    for the 49267th car registered in the first six months of 2018 in county Dublin.

      The problem is that a very complicated number like that is impossible to remember, if someone sees a car involved in a crime which then drives away. License numbers need to follow a pattern which the average, uninformed person can understand and remember.

      @Xenuos Před 3 lety +1

      We use a system like
      [YY][2 random letters] [3 random letters]
      If the car is registered in the first half of the year it's just the last 2 year numbers, second half it's the last 2 + 50
      so last year there were cars like 69AR JEB
      main problem is when we reach 2050, but by then there probably wont be any registered cars that take the new number.

    But why the Japanese for Delaware and UAE? Although I only know Chinese and not Japanese, I can at least know that the Japanese titlecard for Delaware isn't correct: 最初の状態 does mean "original state", but specifically "the original particular condition something was in at a specific time", not as in "the first state in chronological terms that constituted the United States". I think the correct Japanese should be something like 第一の州 (correct me if I'm wrong, again I'm basing this off Chinese and not Japanese)
    For anyone wondering, Chinese-language speakers can at least read (mentally understand) Japanese kanji, even if they don't know how they're pronounced. Although not all Japanese kanji have the same meaning in Chinese, a very substantial portion does, which is why tourists from China and Taiwan sometimes can have Japanese locals understand them if they write out the Chinese characters
